Mbusii Opens Up About Why He Is No Longer On Churchill Show: “There Was Always An Issue With Pay”

For a while now I haven’t seen Mbusii’s segment on Churchill Show and I was rather perturbed. But I was pushed to action admittedly by a Ghafla reader who was more perturbed than I was. He wanted to know exactly why Mbusii and Shix Kapyenga (WTF?!) haven’t been on the show representing for the hoods.

Well, I reached out to Mbusii who I must say is one of the most honest and straight shooting Kenyans I have ever had the pleasure of interacting with. He is a true blue honourable lad.
Anyway, I called him up and this is what he had to say:

Tuliambiwa tuchukuwe break kiasi ikakuwa kurudi ni shida. Bado tunangoja call back.”

Then I asked him in passing about whether the rumours are true about the comedians on the show being underpaid and he again shocked me with just how candid he is:

“Hiya ilikuwa inalingana na contract although kusema ukweli, ilikuwa ina delay.”

I reached out to Churchill Show’s PR officer and he was also refreshingly candid. He explained the entire affair thus;

“Sponsors pulled out because of the reviews of that segment so we had to get it plugged. You see, that segment had our guys going into some errrm… Rough areas and they were being endangered and so was the equipment which meant we needed security. From police escorts to private security so the budget became expensive. And about the pay, Nation has indeed signed the contract but there are usually delays in disbursement of the monies hence the delays in payment.”

I reached out to NMG for a comment. The receptionist turned me away but not before telling me that Churchill infact pays Nation for use of their platform. She then advised me to reach out to the producers of the Churchill Show -even after I explained that I had.

I didn’t know Nation Media Group receptions have the clearance level necessary to speak for the media entity…

So there you have it!
