Mama Lucy Kibaki’s Remains Arrive In The Country,President Announces Three Days Of National Mourning. (Photos)

A sombre mood engulfed the JKIA early this morning as the body of the late First Lady Mama Lucy Kibaki arrived from London.

Present to receive the body was the President of the Republic Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta,his deputy William Ruto,several other Government officials and Kibaki’s two other sons,Jimmy and David.

Former President Mwai Kibaki accompanied the body of his late wife accompanied by his son Anthony and other relatives.

A brief prayer service was conducted by Father Dominic Wamugunda at the JKIA.

President Kenyatta has announced a three-day mourning period in honor of the late First Lady. Flags,too,will fly at half mast during this period.

Mama Lucy will be buried on Saturday at her home in Othaya,Nyeri and her funeral is expected to draw thousands of people and top dignitaries from the Government,the Opposition and beyond.

Mama Lucy died at Bupa Cromwell Hospital on Tuesday after being unwell for about a month . Lucy, who was wife of former President Mwai Kibaki, died aged 82.
