There are clouds gathering over Ghetto radio. There are dark, ominous clouds a-gathering over the radio station and the bell seems to be tolling for the head of the station. Of whom do I speak? None other than Maji Maji. Reports just in from a source withing the station say some changes are afoot that will see the radio executive outed.

 

According to a source within the radio station, they were acquired by a new investor who was unimpressed by Maji maji’s resume and the work he has been putting in at the station as they have lost ground nationally to stations such as Radio Jambo ever since they lost Mbusi.

And then there is the fact Maji Maji has failed to counter the steps made by his station’s rivals to try and get a foothold in the lower LSM audience.

Radio Station Manager Overall purpose of the job. To lead, direct, develop and manage all the activities of the radio, with particular emphasis on
enhancing the company’s strategic direction. These specific duties include strategic
management, business development and financial management, relationship management, supervision and management of staff. As a Radio Station Manager you ensure the smooth daily operation of the Radio via your management team. You supervise the administrative, technical, program, and sales aspects of the station. As a radio station manager you must supervise and coordinate the schedules, workflow, and responsibilities of various departments.  You are also responsible for the success and profitability of the station. You determine and meet the financial goals of shareholders. You work with accountants and bookkeepers to track purchases, cash flow and profits, prepare budgets, and maintain accountability. You work closely with sales managers and initiate new commercial opportunities.  You have enough technical knowledge to understand the operation of all station equipment. You are charged with facilities management and must make decisions regarding the purchase of new equipment that may follow industry trends, according annual or quarterly budget guidelines. Hiring and training of new employees, interns and other personnel at the radio station

 
Networking with other businesses, organizations and agencies to prompt the radio station and increase the market for advertising

 
Developing budget plans, employee schedules and overseeing the daily operation of the station

Direct, coordinate the development and implementation of the business development plan, annual business-operating plan and budgets to ensure that the Radio achieves its goals. Business Development and management

 
Direct, Formulate and implement short and long term objectives, required for improvement and effective service delivery Relationship Management
