Latest Update From Garissa: 14 Confirmed Dead As Al Shabaab Claims Responsibility For The Garissa University Attack

 

The country woke up to very disturbing news that gunmen had stormed Moi University, Garissa Campus, shooting indiscriminately after killing guards at the gate and taking many hostage.

Reports reaching Ghafla Kenya now indicate that at least 14 people have been confirmed dead after the attack and more than 60 badly injured.

Al Shabaab has since released a statement claiming responsibility for the attacks, stating that it is at war with Kenya.

The Red Cross and military are at the scene of the crime and planes have landed to airlift casualties to Nairobi for specialized treatment.

Early on Police Inspector General Joseph Boinnet released a statement saying that the forces are doing all they can to nub the attackers. It was also reported that police and military had pushed the attackers to a corner in one of the university buildings as they pursued them.
