Larry Madowo & Peter Opondo Uncover Grand Voter Registration Fraud
Parties have to adhere to the Political Parties Act which was passed in 2009, part of which stipulates that all parties should have at least 200 members from every province.
Looks like most of the political outfits did not have time to advertise and woo members into their parties. It is now emerging that a lot of the names appearing as members are not only fake but pre-existing documents were used to do the registration without the users knowledge.
There were always reports of mischief but today two prominent Kenyan journalists, Larry Madowo and Peter Opondo, uncovered the fraud to a larger audience. They both discovered that they were members of parties that they had not registered as members.
“@PeterOpondo @murkomen I’ve just discovered that your party URP has me as a registered member in Nairobi County….that’s FRAUD.”
“@PeterOpondo This is FRAUD: Just noticed that according to Registrar of Political parties I am registered as a URP member. URP6214725—HOW and WHEN?“
“@LarryMadowo So ‘dark forces’ registered me as @TNAParty member number TNA7203818. Or was that a computer error @UKenyatta? Y’all did a fine job there“
“@LarryMadowo Dear @UKenyatta, how am I registered member of your party when I never did so? Is that the integrity we should expect from your presidency?“
“@LarryMadowo I’ve never joined any party yet @TNAParty STOLE my details & ILLEGALLY registered me to their party. Disgusting cheats!“
