Last Wednesday, The Star published a story about the Deputy President’s multi-billion shillings home on their front page.

“Ruto building sh1.2bn home in Uasin Gishu” was such a sweet headline on the front page of a leading newspaper that I found hard to resist.

The Deputy President was amused when he saw the amount he was allegedly spending to put up a ‘State House’ in the village.

Kenyans started trolling the deputy president after the news broke about his Kes 1.2 billion palatial home in Uasin Gishu County.

DP then decided to shed light on the whole 1.2 billion house thing after the Star’s story went viral. Ruto was equally shocked that he was coughing out Kes 1.2 billion to put up a house in a bush somewhere in Uasin Gishu while he could use the same amount to build a 100-bed hotel in Nairobi which would return his investment.

“A billion shillings can build a 100-bed hotel in Nairobi. Only a fool would take Sh1.2B to the village to build a house.” The DP tweeted.
