Kenya’s Arguably Biggest Wedding Ever Tom Mboya & Wife Pamela Nyowila Attended By The Queen’s Representative, A Regional King, Jomo Kenyatta, And Jaramogi Odinga (Photos)
There are moments when you get to Facebook and are pretty astounded by the links and shared stories which makes you grateful for your friends.
Then they are moments you get pissed off by the pettiness of all posts. Well, some time yesterday, I had the former experience when a friend, shared quite an awesome piece of the wedding of one of Kenya’s founding father’s the classy, forward thinking and greatly beloved Thomas Joseph Mboya. As far as epic weddings go this is surely up there.
It was not just for everyone but a regional event, with dignitaries from far and wide attended by who is who in the country and one which got covered by Ebony. Tom Mboya was 32 years then and the bride Pamela 23. This was Ebony’s Title;
Everyone from the governor to the then released Jomo Kenyatta and Jaramogi Oginga was in attendance and Njonjo, then holding the title of Queens counsel and the record of the first Kikuyu to be admitted to the bar was the best man and also provided the reception grounds. Here is a gallery of the day that saw over 2000 invited guests and almost all tribal traditional dances and basically anyone else who could get there a crowd of over 4000 out.
Julius Nyerere, the Aga Khan and The Pope John XXIII were among the close to 1000 who sent their wishes from world over. Here are photos of the day before the couple left for a 10 day honeymoon in Tel Aviv Israel
