Kenyans React After Learning One Of The Garissa Killers Was A Kenyan Lawyer…The Government Has Not Been Spared Either

Everybody was surprised on learning that one of the terrorists who claimed the lives of 147 innocent Kenyans was a Kenyan with a degree in law from the University of Nairobi.

Abdirahim Abdullahi schooled at school in South B, Nairobi and passed with an A- and joined the University of Nairobi where he studied law. He would later disappear and his parents reported his disappearance almost a year aggo.

Nobody knew his whereabouts until last Thursday when he returned to hurt his fellow countrymen by killing 147 of them.

And now the nation has bitterly reacted to the revelation that among the deadly killers was a son of the land who grew and schooled in Kenya.

Ghafla Kenya samples some of the reactions Kenyans gave when Larry Madowo posed the question: What makes a privileged, ‘brilliant upcoming lawyer’ like Abdirahim Abdullahi get radicalized and turn into a terrorist?”

Gakuu Derrick U study law or any other professional course,u do ur best and after it?job market mered by nepotism, limited opportunities, corruption ,poor wages….

Monicah Kimonge while terrosits are recruiting lawyers .. kenyan police force is busy recruiting guys with D+ n 32 teeth..kwani its a biting competion

Amor Kelvin My highschool teacher used to say Education without discpline makes you a #clever_devil

Jacob Man Muiru stop making this nigga a hero bcoz ati he is a lawyer…the heros r those students this moron killed..

Mulwa Mercy magu was a lawyer n sacrificed his family, big brains can think small too

Feisal S. Haji It’s the abnormality in human behaviour? What makes a Dad rape his own blood daughter? what drives a son to kill his own mother?

Kihono Kanja Not in any way supporting his devilish act but we must also address the system we live in. Let me ask you a question Larry, how many of your lawyer friends in Kenya would be willing to put down their career and go to fight for their Kenya? Since I presume your friends are quite a number and the answer is none then I’ll ask you “Why do you think none of Kenyan Lawyers who are very much socially conscious want to get out there and fight for Kenya?”. Does this mean our good lawyers love their country any less?

Why is it so hard for our young professionals to fight for their nation to a point where one of them offers willingly to fight against Kenya? What has Kenya done to them?

We tend to treat incidents like #GarissaAttack in isolation and bedevil the perpetrators (which we must) but if we step out alittle we will realize that this is indeed a microcosm of a larger massive breakdown of social fabric that we are witnessing in Kenya.

High end corruption guarantees nothing much for “brilliant lawyers” . The hustle is real. Instead of offering a better landing space for our graduates through job link programs and government backed recruitment agencies we eat all the money and reward fellow thugs.

The discontent at the bottom builds up. Disloyalty sets in. The people at the bottom begin to eat also (for the obvious reason that they must live in a system where hard work means so little).

That’s when the offer shows up. And I’m sure many here if offered kshs. 20million to betray their nation they’d willingly take the offer and run. Or even take themselves so that their folks can have a better lot in life.

We must bring back true brotherhood. We must care for each other as a government. We must stop corruption and guarantee fare distribution of opportunities. We must not allow disquiet and discontent at the bottom of the pyramid to build up much higher. We must recognize and reward our young graduates and offer them a better “counter-offer” than the one terrorists are offering them. We must fight for our children. We must reclaim our generation. We must act real, stand real, be real.

Then and only then will true patriotism stir up amongst the youth. That’s when our lawyers also will offer themselves to fight for our nation because it means so much to them. That’s when it’ll mean something to say “I Am Kenyan” because you know deep within that Kenya is your friend and stands up for your welfare.

But at the moment Kenya is a bleeding sucker that takes the juice out of everybody honest and true and gives it to the drug dealers, corrupt business magnates and corporate thieves. The latter become our leaders. The former walk the streets.

Ivyneema Shiroh Mungai Woiyee,Ngai ff,government is recruiting fake cops, while terrorists r recruiting lawyers….haki tumeisha!!!!

Generali Afrika Njogu THe gov needs to work on getting passionate and intelligent people on its forces. we are a nation which focuses more on strength rather than tactics. Strategy is all what will have us win. What we are doing at the moment is just being slaves of a false doctrine of mediocrity. Larry Madowo you are at a better chance to talk to the president. Old folk days are over we need fresh smart brains. Am sure the damages would have been less and also strategy and tactics would be well involved to the fullest. Adapting things like robots that look like insects which can scan and survey. Education is meant to be helping us but unfortunately we are more concerned at still following the old doctrinated paths and not investing more on talents and innovation which will help us as A nation.. The al shabab are taking up the best and spend more time scouting for great brains full of ideas and innovation. thats the most saddest thing.. Please Larry Madowo we love our country but its a high time we consider talent and innovation as our greatest tool. Unemployment also plays a greater role. Too many young talented and innovative and also educated guys are let out there with nothing to do. Uhuru Kenyatta please consider this our Prez all our hopes are in you.. I trust all will be well.
