Kenya Airways engineers join doctor’s strike and downed their tools as well

Before Kenyans have even gotten over the shock, of walking into empty hospitals as doctors and nurses strike reality begins to sink in, ‘poor wanjiku’ troubles have but doubled.
Just early this afternoon over 1 creating a nightmare for both the public and the government.
Now add this depressing news, Kenya Airways engineers downed their tools on Monday citing poor pay, lack of promotions and unfavourable shift patterns.

In a statement dated November 11, KQ engineers said they had made the complaints for a long time but that changes had not been made.
they complained in the letter to chairman Michael Joseph.
 
They added that some of their allowances were struck off and other amounts withdrawn after the national carrier sold some of its planes.

The engineers want technical director Martin Haines to resign immediately for not addressing their issues.
The engineers have vowed to carry on with the strike until the officials are removed.

This new developments comes just when Kenya Airways was beginning to recover from flight delays experienced last Saturday, after a plane from Somali crash landed on its runaway.
As a result of the go slow several passengers were stranded at the JKIA as flight were delayed.
KQ remaining staff had to put extra effort to avert a crisis and by late afternoon had manage to sort out flights delay according to a statement sent out through their twitter handle.
The national carrier also reassured passengers that they were consulting with the engineers to end the strike
the airline said in a statement.
