Woman stabs her sponsor to death then runs away in his car with two other men

A jury at Mold Crown Court in Wales is hearing the case of Mark Wilcox, 65, who was found stabbed to death in his home last November.

Prosecutors allege that Lauren Harris, 29, took advantage of Mr. Wilcox’s generosity after they met at a pub. Mr. Wilcox, described as a kind and giving person by his family, had recently retired and started a relationship with Harris. He allowed her to move into his home and lent her money on multiple occasions.

Harris is accused of inviting her two friends, David Webster, 43, and Thomas Whiteley, 33, to Mr. Wilcox’s house for a night of drinking and drugs. The prosecution claims the evening turned violent, with Harris stabbing Mr. Wilcox twice in the chest and stealing his car.

The stolen car was crashed less than a minute later. Harris and Webster fled the scene, with Harris allegedly admitting to stabbing the victim.

Police found Mr. Wilcox unresponsive in his home and later determined he had also suffered blows to the head. An empty vodka bottle believed to be the murder weapon was recovered at the scene.

All three defendants, Harris, Webster, and Whiteley, deny the charge of murder. The trial is ongoing.
