Woman Rescued After 40 Days of Being Tied to a Tree by her Husband

A harrowing ordeal has come to light as a 50-year-old American woman, Lalita Kayi Kumar, was rescued from a remote Indian jungle after being shackled to a tree for an estimated 40 days.

Discovered by a local shepherd on Saturday, Kumar was found severely dehydrated, unable to speak, and with a swollen leg from the iron chain binding her to the tree. Authorities believe she had been without food for an extended period.

Kumar, who is believed to have lived in India for the past decade with her husband, Satish, has accused him of abandoning her in the forest following a domestic dispute. Police have launched an attempted murder investigation against Satish, along with charges of endangering life and wrongful confinement.

Despite her weakened condition and initial inability to communicate, Kumar managed to write a note from her hospital bed corroborating her claims. Medical professionals have diagnosed her with psychiatric issues, which may be contributing to her ordeal.

Authorities are working diligently to piece together the events leading up to Kumar’s horrific experience. They are investigating her relationship with Satish, including the status of their marriage and her visa, which has expired.

As Kumar recovers, the world watches with shock and concern as the full extent of her suffering becomes clear.
