Eve Mungai recently launched a new YouTube podcast called *Hey Girl*, where she featured Willy Paul as a special guest.

Willy Paul began by sharing his views on the trending topic of “kugongewa” circulating on social media. “I can’t support that; it’s disgusting. It’s wrong, especially since people are normalizing it,” he said.

Eve then asked him about the past rape accusations that cost him many endorsements and how he managed the situation. He responded, “I generally have a forgiving heart, but this has been a struggle. People have advised me not to retaliate. I lost what I lost, but I trust God has His reasons.”

He expressed frustration that those who made the accusations showed no concern for his responsibilities toward his family. “They didn’t care that I have family relying on me. I won’t lie—I lost everything. I’m just a strong man, and no one saw my tears.”

Reflecting further, he added, “I could go through with a case, but I asked myself, what would it solve? Who would care for my kids if I took that path? I decided to let it go and leave it in God’s hands.”

On handling betrayal in the industry, Willy Paul explained that he distances himself when someone breaks his trust, making clear where everyone stands in his life.

He also mentioned why he rarely attends events, noting that many artists fear they’ll lose out by supporting others. “In Kenya, I’m rarely invited to shows or events because they know I’d outshine them at their own events, and that hurts some artists. But what do you lose by supporting a fellow Kenyan? Nothing. You’d be raising our flag, and if one Kenyan makes it globally, we all rise together.”
