Will Gachagua’s Mountain Prayers Save Kenya?
Current vice president Rigathi Gachagua is well known for his ‘prayerful’ nature, which he has been showcasing ever since his appointment as the deputy President.
In January, Gachagua trekked to Mt Kenya for prayers as senior government officials’ retreat was ongoing in Nanyuki, Laikipia county.
Gachagua disclosed that he faced Mt Kenya and prayed for President William Ruto.
Growing up in Mathira, Nyeri County, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua must have gazed at the imposing Mount Kenya with respect.
Perhaps he has meditated on the 1938 anthropology, Facing Mount Kenya, in which the country’s founding president Jomo Kenyatta described in detail the legends that made Mount Kenya a revered landmark.
We’re well aware of yesterday’s demonstrations; where Kenyans protested for the high cost of living. In tandem with Ruto, Gachagua hasn’t really helped to solve the issue. Netizens are looking forward to a brighter future; but the question remains; will his prayers really save our country. For all we know, prayer without action is dead.
