Trio Mio Discusses His Love For Tattoos & How Much He Spent On His Tats
In a recent interview, Kenyan artist Trio Mio opened up about his body art, revealing the cost and inspiration behind his tattoos.
Tattoos as a Personal Expression
Mio disclosed that his tattoos cost approximately 80,000 Kenyan shillings, including a map-inspired design on his right arm. This particular tattoo, he explained, stemmed from his love for geography and map work in high school. He wanted a permanent reminder of his passion for the subject. Another tattoo reads “Trust None,” which Mio admitted getting due to peer pressure from colleagues. When asked about the significant investment in his tattoos, Mio emphasized the importance of self-love. He believes that self-appreciation is essential before extending love to others.
He also acknowledged that he would have gotten tattoos sooner if he had the financial means in high school.
The Tattoo Experience
Describing the tattooing process, Mio emphasized its addictive nature. He revealed plans for future tattoos, while also cautioning potential recipients about the potential pain involved.
He shared his experience in Swahili, stating:
“This thing is addictive, like a drug. It’s also painful. Once you get one tattoo, you want to get more to feel complete.”
He further highlighted the discomfort associated with getting tattoos, mentioning the inevitable soreness and aftercare considerations.
Inspiration and Care Routine
Mio attributed his initial foray into tattoos to his brother, who had gotten one and inspired him to follow suit.
He also briefly mentioned his past tattoo aftercare routine, which involved using creams initially. However, he admitted to no longer following a strict regimen since the tattoos have healed.
