The woman who fell from a Ngong building has been laid to rest, while her family remains determined in their pursuit of justice.

A family is seeking justice after 24-year-old Daisy Waweru died from falling off the fourth floor of an apartment in Ngong, Kajiado County, on the night of July 31. The incident occurred at E Wings Apartments. A postmortem revealed that Daisy succumbed to multiple injuries to her head, chest, and abdomen, consistent with blunt force trauma. Specimens, including urine samples, vaginal swabs, and blood, were collected for further analysis, but the results have yet to be communicated to the family.

At the time of the incident, Daisy was with four individuals—two men and two women—who were promptly arrested for questioning. The suspects were later released as the investigation suggested they had no involvement in Daisy’s death, claiming the fall was accidental.

Police have stated that the investigation is ongoing, and they plan to forward the case file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions with recommendations. Despite this, Daisy’s family remains unconvinced, believing she was murdered and expressing concerns about the investigation, particularly regarding the release of the suspects. They also allege that authorities did not take their statements, instead advising them to focus on burial preparations and record statements later.

Daisy was laid to rest on Friday in an emotional ceremony at Lang’ata Cemetery in Nairobi. Her mother, Susan Mungai, has vowed to continue the fight for justice, questioning whether there is a cover-up in the investigation. Police have maintained that, given the family’s absence at the scene, their statements were not immediately necessary for the investigation.
