Tanzanian Singer Prof Jay Narrates Suffering Cardiac Arrest 3 Times

Tanzanian singer Joseph Mbilinyi, known by his stage name Prof Jay, has opened up about his harrowing health struggles, revealing his near-death experience and eventual recovery.

In an interview with CloudsFmTz, Prof Jay recounted his ordeal, disclosing that he suffered cardiac arrest three times while hospitalized. During one particularly critical episode, his heart stopped beating for 45 minutes, forcing doctors to frantically resuscitate him.

Facing the gravity of the situation, doctors summoned Prof Jay’s family and friends for a crisis meeting, informing them of both the good news and the bad news. According to Black Chatta, the Vice Chair of the Professor Jay Foundation, the doctors’ words sent shockwaves through the gathering.

Recalling the terrifying experience, Prof Jay admitted that it was indeed horrifying. He spent an astounding 127 days in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), battling for his life. “Being confined to the ICU for 127 days was no joke. I’ve witnessed things beyond imagination,” he confessed.

Driven by a desire to give back and help others facing similar health challenges, Prof Jay has established a foundation to raise funds for medical treatment. His own battle against illness incurred significant medical expenses, which were fortunately covered by the government.

“My entire body was riddled with wires,” Prof Jay vividly described.

His lowest moment came when multiple catheters were inserted into his mouth, nose, and stomach. “My body was a mess of wires. On that particular day, I felt my breath fading away. As you can imagine, the doctors had to put me to sleep to remove the blockage that had choked me. My lungs were filled with impurities. It was all God’s plan,” he reflected with gratitude.

Prof Jay’s hospitalization began in January 2022, with the exact cause of his illness kept under wraps. The hip-hop star further shared that he was often overwhelmed with horror when witnessing other sick individuals battling their own health struggles.

Prof Jay’s courage and resilience in the face of adversity serve as an inspiration to many. His journey of recovery is a testament to the power of hope and the unwavering will to live.
