YY recalled that his father, an alcoholic who was violent toward both him and his mother, passed away when he was in third grade. After his father’s death, his mother relocated to the village, closing her business and making life even harder for the family.

“I spent my early years in Nairobi until my dad passed away in Standard 3. He used to beat my mother severely, and I would try to step in to protect her,” YY shared during the emotional interview.

In a recent interview with Dr. Ofweneke, comedian YY shared candid details about his relationship with his ex-wife,Marya Okoth. The couple recently announced their separation, and YY is now offering his perspective on their time together.

Reflecting on their relationship, YY stressed the importance of having a clear plan and setting goals. He recalled meeting Marya when she was studying interior design and pursuing acting. Seeing her potential, YY decided to invest in her growth, even during financially uncertain times.

One such investment was in Marya’s YouTube channel. YY revealed that he spent approximately 40,000 Kenyan shillings on the early episodes. Despite initial lack of income, he believed in her talent and supported her dreams.

YY the comedian was recently on the mic cheque podcast where he was speaking about religion and African spirituality. He gave his opinion on the topic of Christianity which has recently become a heated debate given how pastors have been going viral for all manner of publicity stunts. YY asserted that he was a Believer in God but he believes Christianity itself is man made. 

“Christianity is man-made because God is not a god of contradictions. So he won’t say you do this like this but you do this like this.”

He brought up the topic of colonization which is also a big point in religious debates in Kenya

“If you look at history, when we talk about colonization and everything and we are asked what are some of the effects?  Some of the effects are that Christianity emerged.”Are those people going to perish? They are not. So that means that without Christianity there is still a way that you can still worship and get the thing that you want.”

Instead, they’d drive big cars and party in the city day and night. She also noted that some prominent people wouldn’t reciprocate their parent’s efforts in building their career.
