Where should gospel musicians draw the line?

Kush Tracey’s recent release with Kristoff and Yvonne Darcq dubbed Bash has elicited mixed reactions and left many wondering whether she’s still a gospel musician.

Earlier this year, the Ndulu hitmaker announced that she had seen the light and she has been releasing songs that glorify the man above until recently when she chose a different path.

Her outfits have also raised eyebrows. According to her critics, Kush Tracey’s recent dress code doesn’t reflect someone who is saved.

She’s not alone. Other gospel singers such as Nicah The Queen have also been faulted for their seductive dressing which many claim does not glorify God.

On the other hand, the likes of Willy Paul are often put on the spot for releasing songs that have little or nothing to do with spreading the word.

Others have previously been criticized for indulging in alcohol and/or drugs, visiting places that are not ‘holy’ such as clubs and sleeping around.

The actions of local gospel musicians makes anyone wonder whether there is a line that they can’t cross i.e. how far they are willing to go.

Ideally, they are supposed to lead their lives in a certain way so that people who look up to them desire to be like them but they don’t do that.

You would not be wrong if you said that modern-day gospel musicians are leading people away from the Lord instead of calling them to Him.

Looking at their lifestyles, you’ll realize they are just in it for the money. Nothing more. They just want to be known as gospel artists but there is nothing about their music that shows that they are saved.

It’s about time they realize that their actions don’t just reflect on them but also on the faith. They should not make Christianity look like a joke. Enough said.

P-Unit and Yvonne Darcq have linked up on ‘Bolingo’ and it’s a big tune (Video)

It’s such a beautiful time to be alive and the reason I’m saying this is because P-Unit, a group that most of us grew up listening to, is still churnfing out music. I mean, isn’t that enough reason to be happy?

Now, P-Unit – which is made of Bon Eye, Frasha and Gabu, has teamed up with the beautiful Yvonne Darcq on a new song and it slaps really hard! Like really.

The song dubbed Bolingo, which is a Lingala word that simply means love, has been receiving massive airplay since it was released a few days ago.

I don’t know what to make of this song. All I know that is I couldn’t stop listening to it. It has this mix of Lingala and ‘morderness’ that will get you on your feet dancing. Don’t even get me started on the energy that’s on the beat.

The second thing that I love is the hook. It’s too dope and easy to master. I could have written it here for you guys but my knowledge of French and Lingala is not worth talking about. Anyway, Yvonne Darcq totally aced it.

Of course, the P-Unit guys also delivered in this jam. I was not expecting anything less from them. However, if I had to chose one of them, I’ll honestly say that Frasha carried this one home, especially where he is singing in French.

The video was also on point. From the simple shoot locations to the styling to the choreography, I mean what’s there not to love?

Now that I’ve told you about all the things that I love about this jam, I can’t fail to point out that is sounds a lot like a collabo that P-Unit did with Alicious back in 2013 dubbed Mobimba. Look it up.

Yvonne Darcq has dropped a new banger ‘Chinjiana’ and we are feeling it (Video)

Sultry Kenyan singer Yvonne Darcq is back with another jam and believe you me, it’s one for the books.

Dubbed Chinjiana, which loosely translates to hit on one another, the song is all about flirting with someone that you really like and what follows after that. I believe you are all of age so I don’t really need to explain this.

This song epitomizes what happens in the modern society i.e. how conversations begin in Instagram DMs and before you know it, the two of you are hooking up.

I really loved the slow ragga/ dance-hall vibe in Chinjiana. In my opinion, it gave the song context and made it more appealing.

Of course, Yvonne Darcq’s sexy voice makes you want to listen to the song again and again. You almost feel like she is telling you slide into her DM. Okay, maybe I’m stretching it but you get my point, don’t you?

I also felt that her approach in this song is different from what we are all used to. While she’s still very seductive, it was awesome to see her vibing to a dance-hall beat.

Chinjiana was produced by the one and only Jegede and he did a commendable, while some may argue that this song is a bit slow, I still feel like it has a party vibe, think of it like a warm up song.

The song was directed by Ricky Bekko of Big Dreams Entertainment and to be honest, apart from the beautiful shots, especially in the club, I also loved the scene transitioning.

There were also claims that Yvonne Darcq was sponsoring Kristoff. The rapper addressed the claims during a recent interview with Word Is.

“We were friends with Yvonne Darcq and nothing else was going on between us. How do I have a younger sponsor? I would have gone for an older mama if I wanted a sponsor. I will get married in two years and my ideal woman is light-skinned and hardworking,” Kristoff said.
