Singer Vanessa Mdee, a Tanzanian, is set to take her country and the better part of East Africa international after signing a lucrative deal worth millions.
The singer, who is currently winding down her “In Love and Money Tour” together with her boyfriend Juma Jux, sisters Mimi Mars and Nancy Hebron formerly known as Tero Mdee, has now joined Universal Music Group, the largest music company in the world.
Africa is next
Her signing comes at a time when the record label is pushing it’s penetration in Africa and has started by signing a few Nigerians.
“We’ve seen huge success with Latin music going global and we believe the same can happen with African music,” said Adam Granite, Universal Music executive VP of market development.
