The pressure has now switched from DJs and presenters to State House Director of Brand Strategy and Events after president Uhuru Kenyatta asked for a meeting with entertainers following their recent appeal to increase local content in the media.
Speaking during Former Youth Enterprise Development Fund boss Bruce Odhiambo’s burial, Uhuru said that it’s time they solve these nagging issues that have being slowing the Kenyan music industry.
He asked State House Director of Brand Strategy and Events Big Ted to organise a meeting.
“Arrange and bring them to State House if that is what you want so that we can talk and discuss the future of the music industry in the country,” Uhuru said.
Another chance
It’s the second time the president has asked for such a meeting. Mid last year, Uhuru asked for a similar meeting during Joseph Kamaru’s burial.
The meeting was later canceled after fraudsters also listed themselves as artists in order to meet the president.
For over a month now, local musicians have been on the necks of radio presenters and DJs demanding for more airplay and level playing fields.
