TV 47 Hire Shatta Bway After Betty Kyallo’s Return To TV

TV47 is rolling out the red carpet for a familiar face – Betty Kyallo! After a four-year break, the popular media personality is back on screens. Fans can catch her on the Friday night show “News and Lifestyle,” airing at 9 p.m. This program promises a dynamic mix of informative headlines and engaging entertainment segments.

New Shows Join the Fun

But Betty isn’t the only new addition. TV47 is revamping its schedule with a variety of fresh offerings. Take a break and unwind with “TV47 Irie Vibes,” a reggae show hosted by Radio Citizen veteran Shatta Bway, which hits the airwaves Saturdays at 10 p.m. On the agricultural front, “TV47 Kilimo” will soon debut, offering insightful coverage on critical issues within the farming sector.

Willis Raburu Departs

These program additions come amidst the departure of Willis Raburu. After a whirlwind eight months at TV47, where he rose to the position of Director of Digital Services and Innovation, Raburu has moved on. His exit marks a turning point for the network.

Fathiya Mohamed Nur Embarks on New Chapter

Meanwhile, in the wider media world, former KTN News anchor Fathiya Mohamed Nur is setting sail on exciting new waters. She’s joined the China Global Television Network (CGTN) Africa as Commissioning Editor for “Faces of Africa.” Nur, who previously worked with CGTN in 2015-2016, expressed her enthusiasm on Twitter for diving into African storytelling and documentaries. Fans can expect enriching content highlighting the continent’s diverse narratives.

Awards Galore! TV 47 Bags Several Awards at KUZA 2021 Awards, Beats Rival Stations

TV47 has emerged among the big boys in the TV industry in the just concluded Kuza Awards, scooping four awards, beating some of the oldest TV stations in the country.

TV47 won the Compliance Award Commercial FTA TV and was the first runners up in the Upcoming Broadcaster Award TV and Copyright Award TV categories.

The station, which is considered as being in the upcoming category, also won the Uzalendo Award, which was awarded to all licensed and working broadcasters.

TV 47 is owned by Cape Media, a firm established by Mt Kenya University founder Prof. Simon Gicharu.

The Local Content Award FTA TV- Overall Local Content quota was won by Inooro TV, followed by Kameme TV and Ebru TV.

Big win! TV 47 news and shows ranked among most watched local programs

TV47 shows including its prime time news bulletin, soap operas Destiny and So Much Love and weekend entertainment show Bomba La Sanaa are among the most watched TV programs in Kenya.

Breakfast show Morning Cafe and Garden of Eden, which focuses on love and relationships, are also among the country’s most popular shows.

Since going live in 2019 the station has been clawing market share with a range of original shows and features in addition to breaking news.

The insights were revealed in new market research data from One Pulse Limited. One Pulse Kenya is the local arm of One Pulse UK, which has undertaken research for global brands including KFC, Coca-Cola, British Airways, LG and Heineken.

Market feedback was collected through One Pulse’s SaaS-based consumer insights platform, while the sample size was drawn from the company’s mobile app community with over 13,000+ potential respondents.

According to the survey, most TV47 viewers are in counties including Nairobi, Kisumu, West Pokot, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Nyeri, Kiambu, Nakuru, Machakos, Mombasa and Embu.

It also revealed interesting insights on the shows popular with different age brackets. Garden of Eden, which airs on Wednesday from 10 pm, for instance, is popular with 21-24 year olds with 58.06% of respondents watching the show.

18 to 20 year olds make up 40 per cent of the show’s viewership. 30.36% of respondents in the 25-34 demographic also said they watch the program.

TV47 News was also popular with 18 to 20 year olds, with 50 per cent watching it. 50 percent of respondents in the 18 to 20 age bracket also tune in to Morning Cafe and soap operas Destiny and So Much Love.

For the 21-24 age bracket; 33.3% watch news, Bomba La Cafe, Morning Cafe and the soap operas.

Destiny is the top show for the 25-34 age bracket, with 47.06 per cent watching the soap. The demographic also enjoys the news, political analysis and commentary offered on Morning Cafe.
