EMB record label is no more, an announcement made by founder, Bahati. The trolls, the hate, the backbiting have seen the gospel artiste close shop and venture into something different.
Bahati started EMB to support gospel artistes and evangelize the word of God to masses. Unfortunately, the same people he helped, later came back to fight him.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, the family man expressed deep sorrow of the ills of the gospel industry especially in the last 2 years.
He adds that when his haters felt that the backlash he was receiving was not ‘enough’ they decided to take it a step further and instead launch attacks on his wife, Diana Marua.
Fortunately, the trolls only helped garner her more followers on social media.
End of an Empire
Making his declaration, Bahati formally announced:
So today, I made one of the toughest decisions. And… that is…I am closing down EMB record label. This means I am officially terminating all the contracts I had with artistes and that is Weezdom, Denno and other new artiste that I was to support in 2020.
He revealed there was an artist from Rift valley he was set to sign into his record label but might no longer proceed with it.
The EMB record label CEO questioned:
What is the point of doing Ministry, while the same Ministry is being translated wrongly always, leaving you with a bad name. Is there any need to do this? Honestly speaking, in the last 2 years in Kenya, I have become one of the most talked about artist, receiving all the hate. But what is the need of receiving hate from the people I have supported from scratch?
It pained Bahati so deep to see that the same people he was feeding, were actually biting his hand.
Artistes who had grown into brands, through his assistance, would be the same people coming back to poke their noses in his business.
He called out:
Wickedness! Pretenders! The Bible says ‘pretenders are worse than murderers’.
Speaking of the Kenyan gospel industry that has not being doing well in recent years, Bahati attested it all to the division among gospel artistes.
Cautioning that if gospel artistes failed to watch out, they would eventually get outshined by kinds like the young gengetone artistes today.
The gospel industry is not doing good. That’s why Willy Paul alituhepa. Gengetone itatake over kabisa because they are united.
Justifying:
That is why I collaborate with the likes of gengetone artists, Mejja, rather than singing with a gospel artist dressed in sheep’s clothing.
Next venture
After dropping EMB record label, the father of 3 will now be taking up philanthropic acts.
As for Bahati, guys from now henceforth, I will not be signing any artist. Maybe 2021/22 when God gives me the grace. For now, I will be doing an official launch of Bahati Tena Foundation that will be dealing with street kids and orphans and it will be up and running soon. My biggest vision is to take as many street kids as possible, back to school. That’s my new ministry.
Brushing off that despite losing so much by terminating EMB, his new vision is way bigger and better.
You just fought this vision and God gave me a bigger vision. My children’s home will carry more than 2,000 kids.
And to his fellow gospel artistes:
Let’s cut that crap and go back to God.
Closing off:
The best is yet to come. I love you all, God bless you.
