“Eight years ago, on October 26th, my life changed unexpectedly due to a retrenchment exercise. However, this year, for the first time, I completely forgot the anniversary! 🎊🎊🎊 In the past, this day brought a mix of heavy and hopeful emotions, but this year I feel free, excited, and genuinely moving forward! Here are some lessons I’ve learned along the way:”

**Here’s what I’d do differently (and what I live by today):**

📍 **Pursue further education immediately—and keep going.** Learning is a powerful tool for resilience.

📍 **Seek mentorship and coaching.** Invest in yourself by learning from those who have been through similar experiences.

📍 **Start each day with purpose.** Get out of bed, dress well, and carry yourself with confidence.

📍 **Adopt a growth mindset.** View each challenge as a step forward rather than a setback.

📍 **Cultivate a strong support network.** Be intentional about your mentors and surround yourself with uplifting and inspiring individuals.

Terryanne emphasized the importance of trusting the process. “Celebrate small victories. Progress can often be subtle and deserves recognition.

**Trust the journey.** Not every day will be perfect, but consistency is essential. Regularly revisit and set new goals to keep your vision fresh and forward-looking.

Prioritize self-care and mental well-being. A resilient mind is crucial for success. Remember your ‘why’ and let your purpose motivate you on tougher days. These lessons serve as reminders to keep growing, striving, and reaching for new heights.”

Media personality Terryanne Chebet is approaching her 45th birthday with a clear vision for 2024, expressing a desire to focus on more professional endeavors. As she considers herself at the halfway mark of her most productive years, she aims to intensify her work efforts in the next five years, recognizing that beyond 50, she prefers not to engage in excessive hustling.

During a tour of her current home with the KTN Art of Living show, the CNBC Strategic Development lead opened up about her dreams and emphasized the importance of having ambitious goals, even if they take time to materialize.

Terryanne also shared that she is currently dating and, with a playful demeanor, mentioned having someone special in her life. While initially caught off guard by the unexpected question, she acknowledged the joy of being back in the dating scene.

When asked about the qualities she appreciates in her partner, Terryanne took a deep sigh and described him as present, serious about building a future, and enjoyable to be around. As she tried to conclude the conversation, she emphasized these aspects without delving into further details.

As a single mother of two girls, Terryanne expressed that she has no plans for additional children, firmly stating, “Absolutely not. Why? The world does not need any more kids.”

Terryanne Chebet a heavy alcohol drinker? She defends herself

Did you by any chance know that Terryanne Chebet likes her liquor? Actually we have every reason to believe that she enjoys drinking abit too much and thanks to a QnA – the former business anchor says she does it for fun.

From her response to a QnA post where a fan wrote asking;

Maureen Waititu and Terryanne Chebet

Do you get concerned that the amount of alcohol you consume is dangerous to your health?

A question that seems harmless but when you read it again
the meaning kinda changes. It’s like the person asking about Terryanne’s alcohol consumption – knows her on a personal level.

Alcohol is to be enjoyed

Well – seeing how Terryanne responded to this post somehow proves that there is something maybe we haven’t been told about the mum of two.

However according to her, Alcohol is beverage to be enjoyed not abused
.but then, everyone has there limits – there are those who can take 2 bottles or whiskey to feel ‘the high’ others more or less
.so question is what is her limit in this case?

I mean it wouldn’t be thaaaaaat polite to a point a fan has to ask about her alcohol consumption right? There’s more to it.

Anyway responding to the fan, Terryanne wrote;

No I don’t!

Alcohol is to be enjoyed not to be abused. I advocate for alcohol drinking. Drink better not more, you know?

Terryanne Chebet Turns Down Job Offer To Man Who Confessed Undying Love For Her

Media personality Terryanne Chebet has exposed a man who slid in her DM to shoot his shot before applying for a job at her company. Terryanne has taken  to her social media to scold the man for shooting his shot while he was actively searching for a job.

Double Loss!

She shared screenshots of the young man trying to convince her to be his woman. According to Terryanne, the move by the man was unethical. Even though he had good credentials that made him the perfect fit for the job, she had to turn him down.

Terryanne wrote on her twitter;

”A very short story. I’m all about shooting your shot, but not when you’re actively job hunting. Got an inbox, good candidate, mailed him to book an interview, only to scroll up on IG to see messages he’d been sending me, which I hadn’t seen. The End. Like, The End”

Most people have reacted to tweet. Some say that it’s not peculiar for a potential employee to shoot his shot to his employer; while some are sorry for the young man for losing an opportunity because of his thirst.

10 Kenyan celebrity journalists who took to self-employment after years of working with giant media corporates

Cases of retrenchments and mass firings from local media conglomerates almost became the order of the day especially after Coronavirus hit.

Terryanne Chebet finally reveals 10 survival tips that kept her financially stable soon after being fired

Veteran business journalist, Terryanne Chebet was forced to cut down on her spending and luxury life the minute she was shown the door at Citizen TV in what was termed a “restructuring” process.

She termed her firing as an unprecedented and unplanned-for event that put more pressure on her as her children’s sole breadwinner.

However, the current Covid-19 pandemic has shown a side of the media industry that no Kenyan let alone media professional ever foresaw. But it has been done and masses have been sent home with a tomorrow that remains unknown.

Speaking from experience, Terryanne has admitted:

The feelings can be very intense, and confusing. The shock, betrayal, anger and even denial very quickly toss us into a world that’s constantly spiraling.

She has decided to give a message of hope and a foundation to stand on, to her now-affected colleagues. These are the key lessons her job loss has since taught her over the years:

1. Take control of your budget

This translates into accounting for every activity that compells you to dive into your pocket. Right from food, to transport, to rent and even entertainment and luxuries that are not a must-do. Have your budget at your finger tips!

2. Down-size

Having gone through your budget, Terryanne believes all non-essentials should be out. Whether it is your customary drinking or eating out, moving to a cheaper house…name it!

But it will save you a lot if you first share this with your family and explain why it has to happen.

3. Restructure your debt

For cases of bank loans, set an appointment with your bank immediately and ask to set up a payment plan.

For those that you owe, give them a heads-up of your current situation but never go silent on them, if anything, keep in touch because communication changes everything.

4. Health insurance/Savings

At the least, ensure you have a health cover for your family, just in case things turn out for the worst.

However, soon as money starts flowing in, structure a savings or pension plan as this inculcates in you, financial discipline.

5. Re-write your own strategic plan

Sit down and make a projection of who you want to be in the next 5-10 years. Evaluate your career, what you are good at and start working on it immediately as you do some job hunting.

Question is: What can you do to generate income?

6. Update and clean up your CV on online presence

Good example being on LinkedIn. Terryanne believes this is the perfect time to work on your CV, touch it up and let recruiters know you are open for hiring.

Meanwhile, as you wait, work on trends in your industry to ensure you stay afloat in your professional line and to remain visible.

7. Network with industry peers

For this, reach out to influential people in your career line, attend webinars, online forums, prepare prior to the session and make sure you have one or two questions to raise because this sets you apart and shows you are engaged.

8. Build your personal brand

What do people think about you? Are you visible? Reliable? This should be a great time to work on and build your personal brand and stay up-to-date with trends in your industry.

9. Get physically active

Just like the title suggests, remain physically fit because this not only improves your brain health but your memory as well. Start slow and get better with time. The trick is to start.

10. Tell your story

Lastly, it is vital to open up, tell the truth, give your story as it is, no matter how uncomfortable it may get, the truth should be told. Tell it as many times as you can so that in the end, you can tell it well and comfortably.

Fateful moment Terryanne Chebet embarrassingly got stripped off her title at a public event

Seasoned Kenyan media personality, Terryanne Chebet once faced her big axe at Royal Media Services, that caused her sleepless nights but one that well-equipped her with life lessons that she can proudly speak of today.

Recalling that fateful day, the TV beauty revealed it was about 2pm on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, when her boss called her into the office and informed her of the restructuring exercise.

Remember, at the time, she was busy preparing for her Citizen TV evening show, The Business Centre. But viewers had just been robbed of the chance to ever see Terryanne on their screens during the Business segment.

In a matter of minutes I had lost a very well paying and prestigious job as a TV host in the country’s leading media house. As a sole breadwinner, I was completely anxious about the future. I was scared!

The mother of two could not sleep knowing she had a bank loan, school fees, rent and other home essentials to take care of. But here she was, no longer on a payroll.

The torment

However, nothing was more haunting for her than the fact that to every event she went, she needed to introduce herself and ofcos, that tags along where you work. But what was she going to say this time around?

I remember being at a cocktail even one evening and I didn’t know how to introduce myself. I always introduced myself as a News anchor and now the introduction itself was always followed by questions about what happened.

Mother of two, Terryanne Chebet

But this had become part of who she is, this was her story and the only way through, was to tell her story. However, painful, however heartbreaking, it had to be told and she braved up and faced her fears.

No matter how uncomfortable, tell it until you feel better about sharing the story.

“Earlier today. With @lilmuli @victoria_rubadiri @sheshimu & @wanguingechu. We had difficult conversations about the media industry. Glad I was part of this conversation. Shaming & hating may seem fun but consider that no matter how thick someone’s skin might be, being KIND and empathetic costs you nothing. Positive criticism often works better and just as well. Be the better person. You don’t have to shame someone to make a point. Always know that everyone is dealing with something despite the glam. ✌?,” wrote Terryanne Chebet.

Chebet has done more ever since she left Citizen TV – she bought her dream car and her business is booming. But some people don’t know about this, they thinks she is struggling.

“Until today, I walk in places and even the security guards tell me ‘Terryanne, aki pole sana. Usijali, Mungu ako na plan’. I would get strong, then I get into the car and the tears come, but I had to look strong at that time. It has taken a long while but I have had a very strong support from some group of friends, and my family was right there for me from the beginning. It was difficult and the most emotional period I have ever gone through in my life,” said Terryanne Chebet.

Fallback plan

Terryanne was not adversely affected by the October 2016 retrenchment. She reveals that she had two businesses which cushioned her when she was shown the door.

Dreams are valid. Terryanne Chebet has finally brought her baby home after five long years of waiting. The former Citizen TV anchor is the owner of brand new Range Rover Evoque Santorini Black.

Terryanne Chebet has been posting photos of Range Rover Evoque on her Instagram handle for years. The former TV girl openly expressed her desire to own the British machine.

“I spent some time this afternoon getting inspired by powerful automobiles at @RMAKenya The 5 door #Evoque continues to steal my heart, always a #Rovergirl…I saw some beautiful jaguars as well. My heart beats for this 2.0 litre compact SUV ( ok and imani, and the farmer, and…never mind?)I digress. The #Evoque is both sexy & powerful… though my fellow petrolhead Ramah Nyang @rnyang thinks the #Fpace would be the better bet … What do you think? The Evoque or the Jaguar F-Pace? #Rangerover #jaguar #carsofinstagram #rover” Terryanne Chebet wrote on August 31st 2017.

The former Citizen TV anchor has been saving to buy her dream car. She opened up about her bucket list on October 9th 2017.

Dream become reality

Terryanne dream of owning Range Rover Evoque finally became real over the past weekend. The mother of two announced she had finally bought the British machine.

“In 2012 while on a working trip to Beijing I chanced upon news that Victoria Beckham was also in Beijing to launch the special edition #Evoque. There, as a young( ish) journalist my over ambitious dreams to own one were born. To say that dreams come true is an understatement. The Santorini Black may have taken forever to come home, but not once did I give up on believing I would one day own it. #Blackonblack. #Godwins at @rmakenya #RangeRoverEvoque ? @photographybyjunejuly ? @zara ? Mocha  Baby: Mine. ?,” Terryanne Chebet wrote.

The former Citizen TV anchor parted with millions of shillings to buy the British machine. Evoque retails at Kes 5.4 million on international market but in Kenya the figure is much higher.

“Because I love you Larry” Terryanne Chebet and Larry Madowo publicly flirt with each other

Harusi tunayo hatuna? Larry Madowo chickened out like a naive virgin when Terryanne Chebet opened up about her undying love for him.

So many people want to see Larry Madowo introduce his beautiful sweetheart. But wait a minute, is he even seeing anyone really?

Online trolls have told Larry a zillion times to marry. Critics even argue that he has everything a woman needs to be a happy wife.

Because I love you

Terryanne Chebet shared an old photo of Larry and her when they were in Rome, Italy. Terryanne is seen enfolding Larry in her arms in the old photo.

The former Citizen TV anchor however says that it was just a press tour, nothing romantic like anyone would have want to imagine.

“Throwback to a trip to Rome with @larrymadowo, nothing too fancy, just a press tour. ???,” Terryanne captioned the photo she shared on IG.

Larry commented on Terryanne’s photo on IG. He jokingly asks the former anchor why she is embarrassing him sharing the photo online.

“Why would you do this to me? ?,” wrote Larry Madowo.

Terryanne responds telling Larry that she loves him that’s why she posted the photo. She posts love emojis and also says that Larry was so young when they were in Rome.

“@larrymadowo Because I love you ??? Gosh you were so young!” Terryanne responded to Larry.

Nothing serious guys. Terryanne and Larry were just goofing around.

Terryanne Chebet shares first photo of her newborn baby who was born exactly a year after Citizen TV fired her

Terryanne Chebet delivered a bouncing baby girl three weeks ago. The former Citizen TV anchor says God has an incredible sense of humor because her daughter was born exactly a year after she was fired from Citizen TV.

Royal Media Services (RMS) carried out a major restructuring in October 2016. Over 100 employees were sent packing as the media house said difficult business environment in the broadcast industry had cut revenues.

Terryanne Chebet was among RMS journalists laid off in the restructuring. The retrenchment saw the likes of Kirigo Ng’arua also sent packing.

Contrasting coincidence

October 26th 2016 was the day Terryanne received retrenchment letter from Citizen TV. October 26th 2017 was the day Terryanne gave birth to her second daughter.

The mother of two can’t help but laugh at the contrasting coincidence. The October 26th date reminded her of the retrenchment until her daughter was born on the same date a year later.

“A mother’s joy begins when new life is stirring inside
When a tiny heartbeat is heard for the very first time, and a playful kick reminds her that she is never alone…. She arrived on the 26th of October. On the exact date last year I received a letter informing me of my retrenchment. Is it just a co-incidence? God does have an incredible sense of humour. I am truly and deeply thankful,” wrote Terryanne Chebet.
