The age when a woman was expected to be a housewife while the man wore a suit to work everyday, has been overtaken by time and events.

And for those still forcing wives into that culture, it is considered retrogressive of you.

Tanasha Donna found herself in a new setting – different customs and practices, different beliefs and traditions – the day she locked hands with Tanzanian singer, Diamond Platnumz.

Hailing from neighbor country, Kenya and bred in Italy, before flying in to Belgium for her University Degree, Tanasha is not the basic African girl.

However, life got tough on her in Tanzania with a mother-in-law, Sandra Dangote who expected her to wake up and cook.

Unfortunately, that is just not how the model had been raised.

I was giving my all. Sometimes I would be judged a lot because I am not your typical cultural Tanzanian woman. I don’t stay at home, wake up and cook. I love cooking but if I can hire a chef why not? I faced a lot of obstacles. A lot of people did not want us together including people from the team and family.

Career

The young Kenyan entrepreneur who is not new in the music industry, was considered a competition to her lover, Diamond Platnumz.

Having been a video vixen before and had a couple of music releases, Tanasha Donna’s career was edged towards the art industry in the last couple of years.

However, this did not sit well with Diamond’s mother. Thus, making it difficult for the bongo artist to make up his mind on whose side he would stand on.

I think the fact that I was doing music was a hindrance. The question he would get was ‘mwanamke anafanya music si mtashindana?’ (with a woman also doing music, won’t she be your competition?) ‘I think he was caught in a tug of war. People who had helped him on his way up and had been with him for ten years were telling him one thing on one side and I was the woman who loved him on the other.

Well, we all know who he eventually picked – his family, leaving Tanasha out to dry.

Either way, our Kenyan darling holds no grudges because probably, the love was just not as strong.

I will not blame him for choosing to listen to them. Unfortunately, love was not as strong as I thought. But I won’t use that as an excuse. I don’t blame anyone specifically. It is life. People are brought up differently.

She had fought for ‘their love’ all the while but it got to a point she realized, she could no longer do it alone.

I could fight all those people but I realized I couldn’t fight alone.

Kenya´s Tanasha Donna Oketch is one beautiful soul whose work of art is breathtaking but she reveals the journey has been filled with potholes but still soldiers on.

Diamond´s lover, Tanasha, has been a popular name for the radio waves and less of the music scene but her recent club banger has driven her to impeccable heights.

Her dream

The Kenyan beauty however discloses that music has been her dreams since time immemorial, she just lacked the courage to face it all.

Im just starting on the industry I’m trying to venture into.

But my oh my have I had these dreams for years down the line.

Just never had the courage to actually take the risk because of HOW BIG my dreams were up until about 2 years ago.

Fortunate enough for her, once passion is in her for a certain thing, she faces it head on.

Passion

Tanasha reminisces days when singing was her daily routine and is therefore not going to let the talent in her just slip away.

One thing about me is that WHEN IM PASSIONATE ABOUT WHAT I DO.

Especially if its something I’ve been passionate about since I was 6 years old, (makes me think of those old cassettes my mom had of me performing and singing in my living room every weekend, definitely gonna post those soon ????????) I make sure I give it my all, as in 110%

It becomes her obligation to ensure that plans have been set as she awaits execution.

I plan weeks/months ahead, I plan every single concept down to the detail, as in every tiny little detail, I make sure I’m involved.

Well, couple stuff go missing or drop off on the way reason being, those might not have been well thought of.

I may take time with some projects, some I started and didnt even finish or release because I was still trying to figure out what I really wanted.

I dont know it all, FAR FROM IT.

Comeback

However, she affirms she is back on track, with an amazing team of people who will hopefully see her through her music dreams.

And thats why I have an amazing team (that I just recently put together,) amazing people, friends, family.

Pitfalls

Like every other road we are bound to take in life, it is expected to get rocky and Tanasha´s experience is no different.

Its not easy.

Especially when you’re meant to be focused on other big and important changes in life, when it starts affecting you physically, mentally and emotionally

It is disappointing to know that people hardly wish you well and all they care about is to see you crumble.

Or when people try bring you down.

It affects one´s entire being and cripples your journey to success.

However, like any other Lioness that gets pricked then pounces back up, she gets back to her feet and keeps the Focus.

But when I think of the END GOAL, I FOCUS ,

CONTINUE PUSHING AND KEEP PRAYING HARD FOR MY PASSION AND DREAM TO BE REALIZED.

Additionally, the commercial model believes this is her path to take and does not intend to fall back any time soon.

I dont intend on stopping anytime soon either.

´Kenya to the World´ remains her slogan as she ventures into the lucrative yet slippery world of music.

I have a country to represent and so does everyone else with a passion all over Kenya and all over the world.

The recording artist however utters she is not perfect but welcomes the growth.
