Sauti Sol fires yet another artist from Sol Generation

Sauti Sol’s lead singer Bien Aime Baraza has come out to announce yet another exit of a member from their Sol Generation music label!

Speaking about Sol Generation, Bien has once again revealed the exit of yet another member; just a few months after Crystal was kicked out of the group for unknown reasons.

According to Bien, the latest member to exit the group is Kaskazini. A few fans had already noticed the changes as the young man did not feature in Midnight Train album dropped which dropped on June 5th.

Bien who always seems to have an explanation for everything went on to say;

It’s been so difficult. We started with four, and now there are two,” he said, referring to the exit of Crystal Asige and Kaskazini. “Right now we have Nviiri and Bensoul. They are the future of Kenyan music. It’s just business, and also about meeting our needs and their needs

Crystal opens up about exiting Sol Generation

Speaking about her exit from Sol Generation; Ms Crystal told K24’s Chit Chat hosts that she had no idea why the management kicked her out! She said;

Back in November they told me that they wanted me to leave, they don’t want me to be in the group anymore and so I left. That’s literally the beginning and the end of the story.

Bien on the other hand revealed that they had a few issues here and there; making it hard to work with the female singer.

We are not working with crystal anymore and this came with a lot of complications. It was an amicable break and we are glad we gave her a platform.

Well it could be that both Crystal and Kaskazini couldn’t deliver the type of vibe Sauti Sol delivers in their songs; therefore making it hard to continue investing in the two.

However Nviiri and Bensoul continue to make headlines thanks to their addictive vocal cords and catchy lyrics!

Bensoul showcases his vocal range on his latest release Salama

Bensoul, one of the signees to Sauti Sol’s record label Sol Generation is back at it again, sharing with you and yours his musical offering of Salama.
The jam is an acoustic song devoid of the bells and whistles of hit song productions, featuring only a piano and his vocals.

The best way to describe this song is to say it is similar to a church worship song with a feel that your pastor is about to hop on to the stage so the choir is trying to get you into the spirit.

Bensoul pours out his heart in latest single ‘No Kisses’ (Video)

The jam is the third acoustic offering off a special series Bensoul has created for his fans to help alleviate the boredom pangs of quarantine, aptly named QuaranTUNES. The jams will go up every Thursday and was produced by himself but mixed and mastered by Trevor Magak.

The best thing about this series is it showcases not just Bensoul’s vocal range but his versatility too, allowing him to show us what he is made off especially when he writes and performs his own tracks and doesn’t feature on Sauti Sol’s hit songs.

Allow me to share the lyrics of the song below so you can sing along as you listen to the song:

Jua la saa saba Limewaka sana Linavyo nichoma Ndivyo nakazana Juu siwezi lala njaa Nikitazama Ninaondoka Nirudishe salama
Giza la saa moja Limenipata kwa shamba Ninaogopa Polisi na wakora Siwezi lala njaa Nikitazama Ninaondoka Nirudishe salama.

Sol Generation closes 2019 with Sauti Sol on Ukiwa Mbali

As we approach the end of 2019, Sol Generation in collaboration with Sauti Sol are ending it in style. The duo has teamed for a new super jam Ukiwa Mabli.

According to them, the song is a thank you note to their fans. Sol Generation are all trying to recall the events of 2019 and what they did.

Sol Generation closes 2019 with Sauti Sol on Ukiwa Mbali

Ukiwa Mbali brings onboard Crystal Asige and Nviiri The Storyteller who were among the Extravaganza team. This is a Christmas song where the duo is praising God for going this far.

Ukiwa mbali(Mbali mama) Umoja natamani(Natamani) Sijui nitafanyeje  Christmass nile na wewe. To start with, the beauty in this chorus will blow your mind.

It is well written and there are questions on what one should to celebrate with the other.

Sol Generation closes 2019 with Sauti Sol on Ukiwa Mbali

Sol Generation wishes all well during Christmas

Sol Generation and the Sauti Sol team are in a party as it appears in the video. There is actually a stanza in which they ask people to have fun.

To add on; Siku hizi kuwa na sherehe bila wewe Mpenzi harakisha usichelewe Nilizaliwa Disemba kama wewe Njoo njoo unibembeleze.

There is the spirit of sharing in the above stanza. Being a festive season, the duo wants all to be happy. There is that line that talks of others going to the church and others in the club.

Also in this stanza ; Moyoni ni mengi ninatarajiaga Na — mbinguni na dunia Ili niwe na wewe muda unawadia Njoo nile rhumba na wewe.

Without dwelling more into the song, Sol Generation and Sauti Sol have done a great thing. Ukiwa Mbali is a song that has no restricted audience.

There is that stanza performed by Crystal Asige and it is just fire. One would think Ukiwa Mbali is their last album but it is only for 2019.

In conclusion, the coming together os Sauti Sol and Sol Generation was a great idea. Ukiwa Mbali gets a rating of 7/10.

Kaskazini from Sol Generation ‘If I had Your Number’ you’ll love it

Kaskazini performing If I Had Your Number off ”1919 to Forever” album by KLM Kenya. The album is a collaboration between KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Sol Generation to mark their 100 years of flying high.

This is such a powerful tune that will keep replaying this song. Good music is always paying for real. To start with, the mixture of languages and acknowledgement of Kenya’s cultural languages just draws it close to the heart.

Kaskazini from Sol Generation 'If I had Your Number'

The way they have pronounced that word girl in Kikuyu and Luo is just so real. Honestly, Sol generation is the real people in music in this country as they always find a way to win.

If I Had Your Number is such an amazing tune

Kaskazini is such a great writer and the fact that he knows where to have the right words is such a lyrist.  Come to think of the voices now, how is one so perfect like this? I mean they are just in sync with the beats. I personally feel like the bye was so strong even if it was in a song.

Whoever thought this If I Had Your Number as a way to advertise an airline is such a hero. How will you even miss to board such with this kind of music?

Kaskazini from Sol Generation 'If I had Your Number'

Honestly, the airline just won because whatever comes from Sol generation is already accepted in our hearts, soul and mind.

In addition to the great lyrics and voices, the artwork that is the sound, and the beats plus video have been given the best treatment.

There was creativity and one is not struggling to get the words as they easily flow. Also, the video is just super creative. Looking at the colours used to show the real meaning of the song, you easily adapt the message.

The producer and the director did their work and this accords them much respect. This jam made my day.

Nviiri the storytelle goes all sensual in “Overdose” (video)

Sol generation seems to be taking over the Kenyan music scene. Now as one of Sol generation’s talents Nviiri the story story teller is clearly one to watch out for.

After “Pombe Sigara” he now brings us another sensation dubbed “Overdose”.

Overdose

In this song Nviiri brings out the RnB sensation that clearly  is missing in most Kenyan artists- aside from Ben Sol.

Overdose is a song that the singer describes how much he loves his woman such that he feels it’s an “Overdose”.

In every aspect of romance and out put he did well, especially with the lyrics. He started of all descriptive with the kind of love he feels for his woman. Love is a beautiful thing.

He says, “Overdose hapo nyuma umeoverload Umetosha gari ligi yako ni ya 4 by 4 Zile vitu unafanya home Sitaziongea mi hujionea……”

Nviiri makes most of us rethink the kind of love we have with our so called partners.

Further as he goes on his vocals bring out the sensualism that blends so well with the song’s beats.

Lyrics

Considering he has been the song writer for boy band Sauti Sol, he did justice to his own song. He brings in the song the song the poetic aspect of it as he says , “Sasa nacheza defense Everyone is my witness”.

Not only that, but also the resonance in his voice is priceless. This to tell you that Kenyan artist also know what RnB  music should sound like.

On the other hand trust Nviiri when it comes to being all naughty and metaphorical. Towards the end of the song he goes on to tell us of what his woman does to him.

I am not breaking it down but will let you do the interpreting , lest it gets banned! Smh.

“Nimeonjeshwa mmh hmm(I like it) Umenifanya mmh hmm(I like it) Kwanza unapo mmh hmm(I like it) Unaniwezanga(I like it)”

Production

If for anything I must give it up to the Sol generation team. Why? There is so much creativity put in it. Simple but clear delivery of message. No need to struggle to understand.

The video production and the songs lyrics  blend so well and for  that  thumbs up. Well, some us will be addicted to these song as this is clearly an “overdose“. Nviiri thank you for such music.

The song was written by Nviiri hismself helped by Wuod Omollo and Bienaime Baraza. It was  produced by Wuod Omollo, FancyFingers. Basically it was done by the Sol Generation. Kenyan music to the world.

For rating I will give this 8/10. Watch and tell us what you think.

Nviiri the Story teller goes Biblical in Raunchy new Jam

Whoever told Nviiri the Story teller, of Sol Generation to get out the comfort zone was a genius. Initially he was just writing songs for Sauti Sol.

The Kenyan songwriter seems to be  having a good year after his breakthrough especially after standing out in the Sol Generation Jam Extravaganza.

Now we know the guy got game. Nviiri is back on the scene with a new  single dubbed ” Pombe Sigara”.

Pombe Sigara

This is a feel good song that carries semblance to RnB. However we love the artistry that Nviiri posses.

It breaks down the kind of interest that he has in women to an extent he feels that its a curse. Really!!!

….ohh pombe sigara,Naweza wacha bila kung’ang’ana, lakini hawa wasichana vile nawapenda ni kama laana….

Will talk about the logic in the sentence later. Anyway the Story teller takes us through the lyrics with his vocals well put.

Being a story teller, the poetry in song is just on another level. To create relation, he invokes the Bible on how Samson was tempted by a woman to disclose the source of  his strength.

Further he goes on to tell about Solomon of the many Wives and concubines.

Team mafisi now found ‘mtetezi wa maslahi yao” in Nviiri.

The visuals in the song are also not bad to the eye.Though raunchy but the sauce adds the juice to the song. The production was done by Sol Greneration label.

The message

From their Youtube channel the message is on how everyone has addiction. Pombe Sigara is a song about a guy’s obsession with women and how easy it is for him to do without drugs as compared to women.

Giving credit where  its due, Nviiri is the new guy to watch out for,the musician posses raw talent that has been caged for way too long. In short, Mr. Storyteller we want some more music, more juice to dance to and more artistry.

For rating i give our Kenyan boy 8/10.Below is the Video watch and tell us what you think.
