Miracle Baby explains why Sailors Gang fell apart

The debate over what caused Gengetone to end has been resurrected by Peter Miracle Baby of the former Sailors Gang.

Peter stated that Gengetone is dead in his YouTube video and blamed cartels for his death. However, many Kenyans disagree with the singer.

According to Miracle Baby, the contracts they signed were what first led to their demise as a music group.

The popular Kenyan music group Sailors has been at the center of controversy since one of its members, Peter Miracle Baby, alleged that the group’s downfall can be attributed to a record label deal they entered into.

According to Miracle Baby, an international label offered free audio and video production to Gengetone groups in exchange for signing with them. This led Sailors to part ways with their manager, media personality Mwalimu Rachel.

In his revelation, Miracle Baby claims that a group of industry insiders, referred to as “cartels,” noticed the rising popularity of Gengetone music and decided to invest in the genre. They offered financial support for audio and video production to Gengetone artists, including Sailors, as part of a signing deal.

However, the consequences of this decision led to unforeseen challenges and the ultimate demise of the group.

Mwalimu Rachel has denied Miracle Baby’s allegations, stating that she was never involved in any shady dealings. She has also pointed out that she was falsely accused of theft and sabotaging the group’s career.

Despite these accusations, Mwalimu Rachel has remained resilient and focused on clearing her name. She has also spoken out about the difficulties she faced during this period, including threats to her life and her son’s.

The Sailors controversy is a cautionary tale about the dangers of greed and betrayal. It is also a reminder that the music industry is not always a fair or just place.

Sailors Gang Ex-Member Lexxy Yung Asks For Advice On How To Stop Craving For Drugs After Opting For Gospel Music

After gaining popularity with the popular Gengetone group ‘Sailors’, Lexxy Yung decided to part ways with them and has opted to move from secular music to Gospel.

The group gained popularity after the release of ‘Wamlambez’ over a year ago.

In an Instagram post, Lexxie Yung seems to be asking for advice on how to stop doing drugs,

” The struggle is real,, anyone with any advice on how to cure craving za mafegi na magwai.”

This comes after the young lad acted maturely and hailed Mwalimu Rachael for building the group.

He addressed the public beef that they had last year. He gave an example of how families quarrel and asked for her forgiveness on behalf of Sailors.

“Nataka kuapologisia madam mmoja anaitwa Mwalimu Rachael ametufikisha hapa kama group, amenijenga kama Lexxy Yung…Beef zilikuwa mingi last year…Tumetoana mbali, wasee huzozana, familia pia huzozana…Kama tulikuhurt teacher bana me naweza sema pole, hope unaweza niforgive, hope unaweza forgive mabro zangu…We are still young and making mistakes and learning from them.”

Last year, Mwalimu Rachael clashed with the group after they allegedly decided to sign under a record label without informing her.

Mwalimu Rachael was disappointed by the move and withheld the login details to their social media accounts. She also withheld the group’s YouTube channel logins, forcing them to create new ones.

Mwalimu Rachael later parted ways with them officially. She wished the group all the best under their new management.

Renowned media personality Mwalimu Rachel couldn’t hold back her tears while explaining to Jalang’o how she had helped Sailors Gang grow and how they had chosen to stab her in the back.

The NRG Radio presenter, who is currently embroiled in a war of words with the Wamlambez hitmakers, revealed that she was first approached by Shalkido who later introduced her to the other members of the group.

They then informed her that they had recorded a song dubbed Wamlambez and needed her help popularizing it on radio as well as YouTube. Fortunately, she agreed to help them.

Mwalimu Rachel and Sailors Gang enjoyed a good working relationship and trouble started sometime last year when Miracle Baby met representatives of Black Market Records and signed a deal with them on behalf of the group.

She revealed that the record label promised them many things like paying their rent, giving them money and other good things when they signed a deal with them. However, she was in the dark about all this.

“Without my knowledge, Miracle Baby met them and signed a deal. I did not know about it until someone from the label came up to me and told me that it was a done deal,” she explained.

Mwalimu Rachel disclosed that she was really hurt because she had put a her heart and soul into building the group from the ground.

“I was being abused every time when someone felt like they did not like the progress that Sailors was making, they were attacking me not the group. As a human being and a mother, how was I supposed to take it,” she explained amidst tears.

Sailors Gang’s Miracle Baby has come clean on reports that he is a member of Illuminati.

The popular Gengetone artist was suspected to have gotten to where he is through Freemasonry which he allegedly uses to finance his lifestyle.

Not once, not twice have fans been suspicious of his kind of fame and what got him there. Reports he has finally come out to address after it became too much.

Through his Instagram, the kid shared a screenshot of his private chat with a close friend who needed connections to join the popular cult.

Not sure what the unidentified sender meant, Peter asked him what that meant only to be told “Illuminati, ju I wanna be like you”.

According to the sender, they had had enough of suffering and struggling with poverty but since they know Miracle Baby is part of the cult, then they hoped that he would help them join in.

Before clarifying that nothing but God has been his source of light and breakthrough in his music career and life.

This comes barely days after the Gengetone artist narrated his dark past, days when he worked as a mortuary attendant to put food on the table.

Further disclosing strange details of how a stranger left a child in a basin outside his door, never to be seen again but he instead took them in as his own.

Miracle baby is now a proud father of 5 (4 his biological children and 1 adopted).

Radio presenter Mwalimu has not been having an easy time with the Sailors Gang gang especially now that there is beef. This comes as a big surprise considering the fact that she discovered the boys; back when Gengetone had just become a thing in the entertainment industry.

A few months later, the presenter and Sailors Gang gang apparently can’t see eye to eye due to a few reasons here and there. The whole drama however started after Mwalimu Rachel was accused of squeezing one of Sailors gang friend’s balls.

Yes, this was more than drama but a real case that saw the presenter present her self in court for the hearing. Since then, nothing has been the same between the former manager and the Gengetone artists.

Accused of refusing with their YouTube logins

Well, this past weekend rumor spread around claiming that Mwalimu Rachel had refused to hand over Sailors Gang Gang Youtube channel. According to reports, the presenter asked for Ksh1.5 million in order for her to grant them access; now that they are under the Blackmarket record.

She tweeted;

The presenter went on to add;

Of course, this makes the NRG presenter look selfish and greedy; but after coming across her latest Tweets, we also understand that this was more of a business for her.

Having the boys walk out on her with no agreement – might be the reason why they now feel that she is taking advantage of the situation. However, truth is one way or another both parties will have to benefit if they decide to head to court.

Over the weekend, Sailors Gang revealed that they had fallen out with their manager Mwalimu Rachel and that she was demanding a total sum of KSh 1.5 million from them.

The worst thing about this whole story in my opinion is that she has taken hostage of their YouTube channel so they had to start a new one.

This story is saddening especially if you remember that when the Wamlambez hitmakers were starting off, they had to post the music on Mwalimu Rachel’s YouTube channel until the public protested and asked her to allow them to have their own channel.

As we speak, Mwalimu Rachel’s channel is at 126,000 subscribers, which is largely because off Sailors Gang’s effort because her own videos used to get dismal views until she started posting their music.

Interestingly, the channel that the media personality is now holding hostage also has 126,000 subscribers and I believe they could be more if Mwalimu Rachel had allowed them to have their own account from the get-go.

The channel that they have now started only has 1,020 subscribers and this pains me because they have struggled to build both channels and now they have to start over.

Although I don’t know more details about the fall out, I believe that Mwalimu Rachel who was using them is now mistreating them for no apparent reason.

Granted, Sailors Gang approached her when they were starting out but that does not necessarily mean that she made them who they are today.

She may have helped them in one way or another but they got to where they are today not just because they are talented but because they pushed themselves hard.

For some reason, managers feel entitled to a big fraction of artists earnings because they are the ones who do help them plan or open certain doors but this is utterly wrong, the best word that describes this in greed.

We’ve seen many artists falling out with their managers after they become big or have a big hit because of the same greed that I’m talking about.

From the very beginning, artists need to lay out the terms of the agreement between them and the managers if they don’t want to see such ugly scenarios. They should seek the services of a lawyer if necessary.

This sense of entitlement by managers must also stop. If you want to help someone in their career because you think that they are talented, then do so without a hidden agenda. Enough said.

KRG the Don hits back at Benzema, refers to him as a rapist!

Benzema recently had an interview with one of Jalang’o TV’s presenters; and among the things the ngwatiology artist talked about is KRG the Don and one, Arrow boy.

Well according to Benzema, the type of music these two make music can never compare to his music. He went on to back his statement up by giving an example of the stats on YouTube.

Well, it now appears that KRG happened to come across the video which angered him to a point of referring Benzema as a rapist. He went on to post saying;

The ongoing beef between Kenyan hitmakers Sailors Gang and KRG the Don might not be going anywhere anytime soon especially after 19-year old wannabe socialite, Shakilla decided to trash Sailors Gang.

It started with what KRG termed a diss by the young gengetone group, before he hit back with his “mnataka meli na mnaishi kwa vumbi?” comment. The push and pull dragged on as recent as this morning but what has fueled it further is Shakilla’s nasty insults on the same.

Sailors Gang has really come a long way

A few days ago, I was stalking Sailors Gang on their YouTube channel and it struck me that the group that is made up of Miracle Baby, Qoqosjuma, Masilver, Shalkido and Lexxy Yung has really come a long way.

If you compare the song that they broke out in the local music industry with, Wamlambez, and their latest jam titled Weekendy, you’ll realize that they have really grown over the past one year.

When we first knew them, they were just some boys who accidentally shot to fame because they released a song that had a lot of sexual innuendo, but now they are regional stars.

From how they put the ‘product’ together to whom they pick to do the video and audio to how it is packaged. Each of these steps is well-thought out. Nothing ever goes amiss.

Sailors Gang has also moved from using risque words in songs, which has largely defined Gengetone, to making jams which are about having a good time and living your life to the fullest.

I actually like their shift. People had gotten tired of dirty songs and to add to that distributing them has become hard after COVID lockdown because clubs played a huge role in popularizing them.

There’s a common saying/quote about making lemonade when someone hands you a lemon nothing that embodies this more than Sailors Gangs re-invention.

I’m also glad they they have a good team behind them i.e. Mwalimu Rachel and our friends at Black Market Records. My only wish is that they should not let fame get into their heads.

One of the things that is the top at my to-do list when the president lifts the lockdown is attending a concert by these young chaps because they are really good at what they do.

Why the group approach has really favored Gengetone artists

Almost all the successful new-age artists are members of a group but have have you ever wondered why?

It’s pretty simple. You are probably thinking about it as you read this article. The reason Sailors Gang, Boondocks Gang, Ochunglo Family, Rico Gang, and the likes are fast gaining traction is because of diversity. That’s it.

You see, by belonging to a group, that is made of up between three to six people, they can offer their fans a mixutre of talent. Think of it like a mouth-watering burger combo, okay maybe not but I know you get my point.

Truth is, in a music group you’ll find someone whose style you relate to. At the same time, you will also feel like you don’t understand some of the members or perceive them as weaklings.

Interestingly, this varies from one person to the next. For instance, I hold the opinion that Benzema and Seska are the best lyricists in Ochunglo Family and Ethic respectively because I like their flow.

However, a good majority say that Nelly The Goon and Rekless are the best songsmiths in the two groups.

This explains why the group approach is favouring the new-age musicians. At the end of the day, you’ll find someone who’s style you really appreciate and it varies from one person to the next.

While you might not neccesarily hate the other group members, you’ll just have this one person who’s verse you can’t wait to hear.

The difference between a group and a solo singer is that once you hate an individual’s approach, then it’s a done deal. However, in a group you are literally spoilt for choice.

Local music fans should brace themseleves for the emergence of more music groups because upcoming musicians have realized that this approach is working.

Peter Miracle Baby, who is one fifth of Wamlambez hitmakers Sailors Gang, recently caused an online stir after he posted a video that showed him getting cozy with an unidentified lady.

In the video, the Miracle Baby and the lass are seen holding each other while listening to one of Samidoh’s jams. At some point, it seemed like he wanted to plant a kiss on her.

The way the were so comfortable around each other led most of Miracle Baby’s fans to conclude that they are dating, others took a swipe at the lady claiming that she is not appealing to the eye.

One of his fans did not mince his words and told him that the lady in question is handsome which can be interpreted as she is not beautiful but then again, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, doesn’t it?

Why are Gengetone in a hurry to release new music?

If you are keen, which I believe you are, I am sure you’ve noticed that there are some Kenyan artists who always have a new song every week or every fortnight.

Lately, I’ve been wondering whether this strategy really works vis-à-vis what we, the fans, want i.e. would they prefer to listen to one song and get bored with it before their favourite artist releases a new one?

Or would do they want their favourite artists to churn out as many tracks as possible so that they can select what they want to listen to? Sometimes I really wonder.

Truth be told, the habit of releasing many jams in a short span of time was almost non-existent before the emergence of new-age artists.

A few years back, an artist would release a song and let it marinate for some months before they drop another one. In a way, this worked to their advantage as it allowed them to study the industry and plan their releases accordingly.

But times really have changed. These days a song is recorded, the video is shot and edited within two days or less. In simple terms, the whole process is hurried and this, in most cases, leads to poor output.

The emergence of Gengetone is to blame for this because it has made us compromise on quality. The truth is that we have gotten used to consuming mediocre content to a point that we don’t even care anymore but why?

I understand that there is a lot of competition among new-age artists for instance Boondocks Gang could be worried if Ethic has two new songs and they are yet to release any.

So what do they ordinarily do? They rush to studio and release two jams in a day without giving a hoot about quality, market trends and whatnot. Who is to blame when these songs don’t get traction? It’s entirely them.

If you ask me, the old way of doing this was better. As much as there’s so much demand for new music from new-age artists, rushing the whole process is just dangerous. Enough said.

Kenyan artists need to think outside the box

The emergence of of the new crop of Kenyan musicians is good proof that all the players in the local entertainment industry should think outside the box. It is what it is.

Every time you listen to a song by Zzero Sufuri, Ochunglo Family, Sailors Gang, Boondocks Gang, Rico Gang and the likes you should remember that we would not be here today if Ethic didn’t look at music from a different perspective.

For a long time, Kenya had a copy paste approach to music. Musicians would wait for the likes of Nonini, Jua Cali and Nameless to release a song then they would hit the studio and release a song that is similar to the ones by these artists.

Back then, Genge and Kapuka were the in-thing. Funny enough, nobody thought they should invent a new sound and own it until Ethic came along with Lamba Lolo in 2018 and changed the game.

Interestingly, the same thing is now happening with the Kenyan sound. Every artist, even the established ones, is now making music that you can tell borrows a lot from the sound that Ethic introduced us to.

This is a good sign that most Kenyan artists are afraid of thinking outside the box. Instead of copying a sound that already exists why don’t they come up with a distinct sound that they can own?

The Kenyan industry can only grow if we diversify i.e. have different approaches to music so that even the people who don’t feel the wamlambez and lamba lolo vibe can have something that they can listen to.

Octopizzo should pull up his socks before it’s too late

If you’ve been following discussions on social media over this past week, I’m sure you noticed that one of the subjects that people could not stop talking about is rapper Henry Ohanga, better known as Octopizzo.

He released a song titled Che Che featuring Barak Jacuzzi and most people felt that it’s below par and to be honest, it is. To make matters worse, people discovered that he had copy pasted Pop Smoke’s Welcome To The Party.

If you compare and contrast the two songs, you’ll realize that everything is pretty much the same. From the concept, the style and the execution is exactly the same. Even the beat and instrumentation were lifted.

But this is not the first time Octopizzo has done this. A jam that he released with Sailors Gang titled Wakiritho some time last year was later discovered to be exactly the same as Tyga’s Loco Contigo. I’m sure there others as well.

You know, when he started off, the Kibera-bred rapper was really good but of late not so much. I’m sure that even if you are his die-hard fan you agree with this assertion to some extent.

Of late, he is not only not unoriginal (I am trying to restrain myself from using the word fake) but his lyrics are also uninspired. When you listen to some of his recent songs, you are left wondering what the heck?

I get it that an artist won’t be the same as when you first hear his music – with time they will fade out but why can’t he try out a new style instead of copy pasting songs unashamedly?

Remaining relevant in the Kenyan music industry is not as easy as most people think but you would expect someone who has been around for more than a decade like Octopizzo to have known how to maneuver.

I’ve been trying to wrap my head around Octopizzo’s latest approach but I can’t. All I can say that he needs to shape up or ship out. Enough said.

Boondocks Gang drops new hit titled ‘Kawazim’ alongside Sailors and Magix Enga (Video)

One of the collabos that many people, including yours truly, have really been looking forward to since the Gengetone sound emerged is between Sailors Gang and Boondocks Gang.

We’ve longed for the day when the two groups which have been instrumental in pushing the new Kenyan sound will come together on one song and after what seemed like a never-ending wait, that that day is finally here.

A few days ago, Boondocks Gang released a track dubbed Kawazim in which they have featured Sailors Gang and the award-winning producer Magix Enga and it’s getting a lot of love from their fans.

This jam is impeccable. As you listen to it, you get to appreciate the sheer creativity of these youngsters as well as the evolution of the Kenyan sound.

Although all the artists on this jam had some dope verses, if I was asked to pick one who I think really aced it then I’d go for Magix Enga. He has a good flow s much so that I kept rewinding his part.

Other than him, I was also impressed by Miracle Baby and of course Odi Wa Murang’a. I am not saying the rest were whack, it’s just that I resonated with the three aforementioned artists.

The beat on this jam is also infectious. Anyway, I was not expecting anything less seeing as it was produced by Magix Enga himself. Believe you me, you can’t resist the urge to dance as you listen to track.

Sailors Gang release highly-anticipated collabo with Nadia Mukami titled ‘Ni Tekenye’ (Video)

The much-anticipated collabo between Sailors Gang and sensational songstress Nadia Mukami is finally out and it is getting a lot of love from their fans.

The jam titled Ni Tekenya has been ruling the airwaves since it was released a few days ago and by the look of things it is going to be one of the biggest songs in 2020. Do you want to bet?

When I first heard that Sailors Gang and Nadia Mukami were in studio, I was really pessimistic. Actually, I was a bit worried because I thought it would be risqué.

I was mostly scared for Nadia because unlike Sailors Gang, she has gained a legion of followers because of her ‘clean’ songs, the kind that you can listen to even when an elderly person is around.

When Ni Tekenye finally came out on Tuesday, I was really impressed. I love the fact that it’s not only ‘clean’ but also a love ballad of sorts. Who thought we would ever see this day?

This jam is so infectious. Once you start listening to it, you’ll keep hitting the replay button until kingdom come. All I am saying that it’s really catchy.

Sailors Gang members i.e. Miracle Baby, Shalkido, Lexxy Yung, Qoqosjuma and Masilver did a good job. They might have just proven that Gengetone is here to stay.

Other than the gibberish that Miracle Baby says in the hook, I loved Masilver’s verse in this track followed closely by that of Shalkido. But hey, who is ranking them? Not me.

As expected, Nadia Mukami really came through on this jam. She spiced it up with her beautiful voice and sexy dance moves because let’s be honest, who does not want to see the Si Rahisi hitmaker dancing by the beach?

The beat – which was produced by the legendary Vicky Pon Dis, is also on point. It puts you in a party mood from the moment you hit the play button.

The video is so dope. Apart from the beautiful shots, I was also impressed by the styling, flawless scene transitioning and of course the sexy video vixens. Props to Kevin Provoke.

Boondocks Gang drops new jam ‘Kamweretho’ alongside Sailors Gang’s Shalkido and Vuva (Video)

Boondocks Gang – the group that became a household name in Kenya after releasing Rieng in December 2018 – have released a new track alongside Shalkido (Sailors Gang) and Vuva (34 GVNG) and it’s a big tune.

The song dubbed Kamweretho, which is a Kikuyu word that means disappearing without a trace, has been ruling the airwaves since it came out a few hours ago.

Although this is a party tune, you have to love the creativity of the musicians who have been featured in it. They have a unique ability of playing around with words and this results in some very dope rhymes.

For instance, I think Joefes’ had a tight verse. His flow is also smooth and he makes it look so easy. I am sure that it won’t take long before Kenyans notice his talent.

As you’d expect, Odi Wa Murang’a also nailed it. The truth is that I’m yet to decide what between his hoarse voice or impeccable rhymes make him interesting to listen to, perhaps it’s the latter. You tell me.

The hook on this jam is so catchy and easy to master. After listening to this song twice, or maybe thrice, you will just find yourself singing along to it and that’s not a bad thing or is it?

The beat, which was produced by Jesse, is also impeccable. Believe you me, this is one song that you can not listen to while seated down. However hard you try, you won’t resist the urge to dance along to it.

Kenyan musicians have so much to learn from their Tanzanian counterparts

I’m not a fan of Bongo music. I only listen to Tanzanian songs when I have to, for instance when I am doing a review or when they are randomly played at a club, party or in a matatu.

On the flip side, I admire so many Tanzanian artists not for any other reason but because they really work their asses off. I could list them but their names would take up all this space. So, I’ll save you the agony.

Bongo music has always been big deal  not only in Tanzania but across the continent and it’s bout time we – or rather our artists – borrowed a leaf from them.

They should ask themselves questions like,”What can we learn from Tanzanian musicians?”, “What areas should we work on?” and “What are they doing differently?”

One of the Bongo artists that I really admire, just like most of you is Diamond Platnumz. Despite being accomplished and all, he has never been content with his success. He keeps pushing each and every day.

Since the year begun he has released more than 30 songs, perhaps more, including collabos. As a result, he is always at the top of people’s minds.

It always seems like he is a pacesetter for the Tanzanian music industry since most people – including his stablemates – like Rayvanny, Lava Lava, Mbosso and Queen Darleen want to keep up with him.

The local music industry lacks a someone who keeps artists on their toes as is the case with Tanzania and this means that very few musicians, if any, give a hoot about consistency.

The truth is that people get bored very fast. I doubt if any of the people who are reading this article can have a jam in their playlists for more than a week and this means that artists need to release more music. There is no other way.

Many of you will be quick to point out that new age artists such as; Sailors Gang, Boondocks Gang, Ochunglo Family, 34 GVNG, Gwaash, etc. are constantly releasing music but let’s be honest, that is not serious music.

In as much as we find the songs by these youngins catchy, they rarely transcend our borders. It’s what it is. To add to that, the quality is always wanting.

I’m talking about the likes of Nyashinski, Nadia Mukami, Octopizzo, Khaligraph, King Kaka, Redsan, Nameless, Jua Cali, Avril etc. Will they ever wake up from their deep slumber? If so, when? Enough said.

Mwalimu Rachael says she’s monitoring Sailors song to avoid angering Ezekiel Mutua

Radio host Mwalimu Racheal of NRG Radio has revealed that she’s closely monitoring songs from her team Sailors Gang to avoid trouble from moral parties.

Ezekiel Mutua and other moral parties have been working hard in controlling the music industry and have been pushing for songs that are dirty to be pulled down and artists to get punished.

In a tweet, Mwalimu revealed she actually stops some of the lyrics and also ensures raunchy parts of the music videos are edited out.

“I too have had to stop certain lyrics from appearing on Sailors tracks and even why a part of a video has to be edited out. I go a step forward to explain to Sailors why that has to be done,” Mwalimu Rachael wrote.

Her statement comes after Ethics released Tarimbo which Kenyans claimed advocated for rape.

Sailors Gang has dropped a new song exactly a week after KFCB CEO Ezekiel Mutua banned their hit song Wamlambez from being played in public spaces.

The new song dubbed Wainame is all about having the time of your life when you are the club or wherever you may deem fit.

Wainame loosely translates to ‘let them bend over’. As the title suggests, this song is clarion call to well-endowed lasses to let their derrieres do the talking.

I must admit that I was really impressed by the witty rhymes and wordplay by Miracle Baby, Shalkido and Masilver. (Side note: Where the h*ck is Lexxy Yung?)

However, Miracle Baby’s verse was a cut above the rest, especially the part where he is singing in Kikuyu. I kept nodding my head although I could not understand a thing.

This jam also has some mad energy in it, even if you are in low spirits you won’t resist the urge to say, “aaaah we wainame.” Trust me!

The beat, which was produced by the one and only Magix Enga, is also on point. You’ll get instant FOMO once you play the song. But then again, maybe it’s just me.

Interestingly, Magix Enga also shot and directed the video for this song and I think he really tried. Not so bad for a first-timer.

Banning songs is just pointless

Every so often, you’ll hear that Kenya Films Classification Board (KFCB) CEO Ezekiel Mutua has banned a song for one reason or the other. The latest casualties are Sailors Gang’s Wamlambez and Tetema by Diamond Platnumz and Rayvanny. He restricted the songs from being played in public places and termed them as pure pornography.

I find this interesting because apart from the fact that you can’t really ban a song, it’s also just pointless because you end up making them popular. Think of it though, news about the ban was carried on the dailies and people who didn’t know about the song now know about it and probably went on YouTube to watch it.

Secondly, it’s really hard to enforce such a ban. Say you are caught playing the song outside a club, would you be arrested? And if you were apprehended what would you be charged with? Which law have you broken? You see, for such a ban to be effective, it has to be published in a gazette notice and I don’t think anyone in government is that idle.

The third reason is why now? I just kept wondering. Truth is Wamlambez and Tetema are not new songs, the former was released in April while the latter came out in February – which is six months ago. Say the song are dirty as we have been told, then why weren’t they banned as soon as they were released?

In my opinion, people should be left to decide the kind of songs that they want to listen to. If you feel that a certain song is lewd the truth is you don’t have to listen to it, no one will force you to consume it. The same way you should not stop people from listening to songs because you seem them in a certain way. Enough said.

We don’t care about Ezekiel Mutua’s ban- Wamlambez hit makers reveal

Sailor Gang, the crew behind the controversial Wamlambez hit, has finally responded to KFCB Boss Ezekiel Mutua banning the viral and addictive song.

The group spoke to Opera News and revealed that they don’t care much about the ban of their son.

“What do you guys have to say about the ban of the song?’ Opera News asked to which they replied: “Nothing really. You can catch our shows on the weekend, it shall be business as usual.”  

Mutua early this week said the song, together with Diamond’s Tetema, was banned because of pornographic lyrics.

“Tetema and Wamlambez songs are strictly forbidden outside of clubs and bars. It’s embarrassing to see even national leaders singing and dancing to the obscenity in public. The lyrics are dirty and not suitable for public consumption, especially children. @InfoKfcb” he said.

Sailors Gang, the boy group that became a household name after releasing Wamlambez and Pekejeng, is back with a new jam and it’s getting a lot of love from local music fans.

Dubbed Queen B, the song praises lasses who are endowed with a bee-like figure i.e. what most people refer to as a Coca Cola shape. Do you get it? I hope you do.

As expected, Miracle Baby, Shalkido, Masilver and Lexy Yung really came through with some dope verses in this jam. Well, you’ll only notice that if you don’t focus on the raunchiness of their lyrics.

For one reason on the other, I was really impressed by Masilver’s lines. I have a feeling some of you might disagree with me but it is what it is. I feel he did better in Queen B than their two previous releases.

This jam is very infectious. The part where Miracle Baby says, “Kako na Queen B machine sema Queen machine,” and then the others respond “uuuuuh Queen B machine” will stick on your mind the first time you listen to this jam. Dabonge style to the world!

The video, which was directed by Irush, was also on point. They shoot location is a club and they picked some voluptuous vixens who can really twerk afterall that’s what the song is all about.

I also loved the beat and how it blended with the lyrics. It has a dancehall vibe and at the same time it has a hint of Genge. At some point I almost thought I was listening to Boomba Train. Big up to Kwesh, the producer, he outdid himself.

Rekless Vs Nelly The Goon Vs Miracle Baby: Who is the best lyricist?

In the last one year or so, we’ve witnessed the emergence or groups or individuals who’s music approach is different from the norm.

They have treated us to many good songs so much so that you would be right to say that they breathed new life into the local music industry. Didn’t they though?

Out of the many groups of new-age artists, three stand out not for any other reason but because they are made up of super-talented individuals. They are; Ethic Entertianment, Ochunglo Family and Sailors Gang.

If you are keen, then I’m sure you’ve noticed that each of these three groups has an individual who is hailed for his lyrical prowess every time they release a new song. It’s just what it is.

In my opinion, the three are; Rekless (Ethic), Nelly The Goon (Ochunglo Family) and Miracle Baby (Sailors Gang).

For starters, let’s agree that all of them are exceptional. However, we’d still like to know who, acccording to you, is the best lyricist among the three.

His verses are always flawless. You can tell that he puts some thought into his each line. He really wowed his fans in Ehic’s latest release dubbed Figa.

Nelly The Goon

His verses are effortless but outstanding. He says random things but the end result is always impeccable. According to many people, he really outdid himself in Ochunglo Family’s latest release dubbed Kaa Na Mama Yako.

Although Sailors Gang has only released two songs to date, Miracle Baby has been on everyon’s lips because of his lit verses. He really did a great job in thier latest jam dubbed Pekejeng.

The wamlambez wave is unstoppable!

If you are an avid social media user, even if you are not, I’m sure you’ve noticed how people have been going crazy over the debut single by Sailors Gang dubbed Wamlambez in the last few days.

From apartments, to lecture halls to people in the diaspora, to people walking along the streets everyone is taking on the challenge so much so that if you don’t love the song you’ll just force yourself to. Truth be told, you don’t even have a choice.

The song has turned into an national anthem of sorts, it’s almost equivalent to what Kiasi by Jua Cali or Tuendelee by Kleptomaniax or Mos Mos by E-Sir was about a decade ago. A song that reasonates with people across all ages and it is played wherever you go to, even in the unlikeliest places.

You see, the truth is the Kenyan music revolution is here with us and even if you don’t like it, you have no choice but to embrace it because wishing it away will not help you or anyone.  Think of it along the lines of, if you can’t beat them, join them.

When Wamlambez came out in April this year, very few people were feeling that vibe. It was not what they had been used to hearing, the music approach was new but we eventually warmed up to it because it’s what’s popular. It’s what is being played heavily on local TV and radio stations.

I really pity people who for one reason or the other dislike the song or Sailors Gang’s music approach because the truth is, this wave is unstoppable, you are likely to be swept away if you stand in it’s way and you would have no one to blame.

Sailors Gang will continue to dominate the charts not for any other reason but because they have a fresh sound which they refer to as Dabonge style i.e. someone speaks and you respond. If you don’t like it then I just don’t know.
