Redsan opens up about his 4 children that many know nothing about

Dancehall artist Swabri Mohammed aka Redsan has managed to keep his celebrity life away from his private life; hence limiting fans on what they can and cannot know about this singer.

Unlike most celebrities we have in the country, Redsan chose to have a low key wedding and since then he has not only kept his wife off his pages; but also his 4 kids that most of his fans knew nothing about.

However speaking with Churchill during Churchill shows season 10 episode 16; the husband and father for the first time went on to disclose unknown information about his family. According the artist his children are as talented as he is; but being a parent who wants the best for his kids, therefore he prefers encouraging them to work harder in school. He said;

There is one who rhymes. I tell him soma kwanza, sitaki noma. Kwanza the way the industry is hard, I tell him school first.

Having 3 daughters has not only been a blessing for him; but has become a source of joy having to raise the 3 princesses. He however went on to add that his youngest child is a 2 year old boy who has been one of his biggest challenges; since the young man keeps the entire family on their toes.

The firstborn is turning nine, then there is a six-year-old and then a four-year-old, and the lastborn is two years. The lastborn is a boy, he pelekas me mbio. He is into TV and music, but mazee, I tell him to hold on.

Speaking about why he has chosen to keep them under wraps for so many years; Redsan went on to reveal that his wife already advised him against publicizing the kids due to cyberbullying. He went on to say;

There is so much disadvantage, especially kwanza huku East Africa, sijui ni nini mbaya. You might decide to expose your family then people compare and criticize them.

And lastly speaking about the family issue, he said:

Things like your outfit can be a topic. She [wife] always tells me to keep my family life away from social media, to post my work and nothing else. She says the family and my work should be two very different entities.

Happy Birthday South C’s Finest Rapper and Lyricist, E-Sir…

It’s a short cryptic name. It’s like a fig.  A fig is a tiny seed, but grows to gigantic proportions. From humble, feeble beginnings to a towering, overshadowing stature in total indifference to numerous challenges and pitfalls along the journey.

Perhaps, in nature a fig seed would best animate the life of Kenya’s most celebrated fallen Hip Hop artist, Issah Mmari Wangui, fondly known as E-Sir.

Today, in better circumstances, E-Sir would be marking 19 years in the Hip Hop industry. However, that bubbly candle was snuffed out in a grisly road accident on a chilly Sunday morning – 16th March, 2003 aged just 21.

Just why E-Sir fondly remains in the hearts and minds of Hip Hop fans? His was a soul born before his time – a dynamic fusion of unique talent, entrepreneurial mindset and a burning desire to be the best in the industry.

A casual online search of the republic’s most iconic musicians has E-Sir cheekily tacked in between regional musical entities – Daudi Kabaka, Les Wanyika, Them Mushrooms, et al – all with eventful careers spanning decades. E-Sir’s case is different.

In two short years, 2001 – 2003, E-sir had grown from ‘South C’s Finest’ – winning freestyle rap sessions on street corners – to a star with a huge national following.

E-Sir had an easy-flowing lyrical flow, often in flawless Swahili and became one of the pioneers of Kapuka. Signed to the label Ogopa DJs, E-Sir’s peers on the Kapuka Beat includes Nameless, Redsan, Mr. Lenny, Vinnie Banton, amongst others.

In 2003, local Hip Hop faced a daunting task to penetrate the market, as Western Hip hop had a fanatical following. Remember The East vs. West beef? Yeah, that’s what E-Sir and fellow stars had to over shadow…..

And, Oh Boy! They did it in style!

E-Sir’s ageless hits include Bamba ft. Big Pin and K-Rupt (Deceased), Mos Mos ft. Brenda, Saree, and the soulful Hamnitishi ft. Talia – which, loved ones believe has a deeper message that foresaw his imminent demise. Up to date, E-sir’s greatest hit, Bumba Train alongside close friend nameless still enjoys massive airplay on radio.

E-Sir’s musical dream still lives on with his younger brother, Habib still in the industry.

Magix Enga links up with Redsan on ‘Bus’ (Video)

Magix Enga, who is arguably the most sought after producer in Kenya at the moment, has dropped a new track with award-winning dancehall singer Redsan and it’s a big tune ladies and gentlemen.

The jam dubbed Bus is the second track off his forthcoming album Velocity and it has been ruling the airwaves since it came out a few days ago and to be honest, we are also feeling it.

Basically, this song is all about how they are having a party in a bus that is moving from town to town so Magix Enga is asking people to come with the ladies so that they can have a good time.

I absolutely love this jam. I have listened to it a couple of times since it was released and every time I play it, it’s like I am hearing it for the very first time. Yup, it’s that good.

If you are a fan of Magix Enga like I am then I am sure you know that this lad is a good singer. He has a unique voice that really sets him apart and he proved to us that this is a fact in this jam.

To add to that, he also has a good flow and perhaps the most amazing thing about that is the fact that his rhymes will make you scratch your head as you try to make sense of it all.

As expected, Redsan also brought his A-game. He spiced up Bus by introducing the dancehall element in it. His voice and that of Magix Enga also blend perfectly.

The beat was produced by Magix Enga himself and they are impeccable. However, I am sure some people are not too happy because it has a slow tempo. Anyway, I still think that it’s dope.

Kenyan musicians have so much to learn from their Tanzanian counterparts

I’m not a fan of Bongo music. I only listen to Tanzanian songs when I have to, for instance when I am doing a review or when they are randomly played at a club, party or in a matatu.

On the flip side, I admire so many Tanzanian artists not for any other reason but because they really work their asses off. I could list them but their names would take up all this space. So, I’ll save you the agony.

Bongo music has always been big deal  not only in Tanzania but across the continent and it’s bout time we – or rather our artists – borrowed a leaf from them.

They should ask themselves questions like,”What can we learn from Tanzanian musicians?”, “What areas should we work on?” and “What are they doing differently?”

One of the Bongo artists that I really admire, just like most of you is Diamond Platnumz. Despite being accomplished and all, he has never been content with his success. He keeps pushing each and every day.

Since the year begun he has released more than 30 songs, perhaps more, including collabos. As a result, he is always at the top of people’s minds.

It always seems like he is a pacesetter for the Tanzanian music industry since most people – including his stablemates – like Rayvanny, Lava Lava, Mbosso and Queen Darleen want to keep up with him.

The local music industry lacks a someone who keeps artists on their toes as is the case with Tanzania and this means that very few musicians, if any, give a hoot about consistency.

The truth is that people get bored very fast. I doubt if any of the people who are reading this article can have a jam in their playlists for more than a week and this means that artists need to release more music. There is no other way.

Many of you will be quick to point out that new age artists such as; Sailors Gang, Boondocks Gang, Ochunglo Family, 34 GVNG, Gwaash, etc. are constantly releasing music but let’s be honest, that is not serious music.

In as much as we find the songs by these youngins catchy, they rarely transcend our borders. It’s what it is. To add to that, the quality is always wanting.

I’m talking about the likes of Nyashinski, Nadia Mukami, Octopizzo, Khaligraph, King Kaka, Redsan, Nameless, Jua Cali, Avril etc. Will they ever wake up from their deep slumber? If so, when? Enough said.

Redsan finally speaks after his fight with producer, Sappy

Redsan and producer Sappy left many talking after their small fight that saw the two trend in East Africa.

Apparently Redsan is said to have walked in on Sappy at the studio to inquire why he had not finished producing his album; something that that led Redsan to beat up his producer, Sappy.

Speaking during an interview, Redsan held back from revealing too much details about what exactly happened but went on to reveal that the incident is forgiven and forgotten since he reconciled with the producer.

That issue was resolved ’cause me and him are good right now.

Althiugh he is not proud of what he did, Redsan is happy that he created some ‘jobs’ for  meme graphers and DJ’s who made use of the famous term ‘Soja tumevamiwa!’

Sappy on the other hand says that all is well between him and Redsan since they already reconciled. Speaking to Mambo Mseto, Sappy said;

Redsan amenipigia simu akasema ilikuwa ni hasira…Issues za kupigana sina kinyongo na Redsan na tumesameheana.

Veteran music artist Redsan has revealed that he’s now on good terms with his producer after the two hit the trending lists following an ugly fight.

Redans and his producer Dr. Sappy became a viral meme after their nasty fight was recorded and posted on social media in form of an audio.

“That issue was resolved ’cause me and him are good right now,” he said.

Redsan went on to joke about the fight saying at least it created some employment.

“Soja Tunavamiwa”, the ‘Shoulder Back‘ hitmaker said, “At least I created jobs for some people, they released songs through that.”

The fight happened sometime last year. Redsan was accused of being ungrateful, after having the entire album made for him without any payment being made. Sappy vowed not to give him the album in which forced Redsan to take it forcefully.

If you are in your 20s or older then I’m sure you have nostalgia when you remember the kind of songs that rules the airwaves in the early 2000s.

Genge music had just emerged and almost every artist was releasing a song that was inclined towards the genre.

However, others decided to steer their own paths and their songs were received well by fans nevertheless.

Put simply, it was a beautiful time for Kenyan music. It’s almost similar to the music revolution that is being witnessed in the country at the moment.

Among the male artists that were such a big deal at the time were; Pilipili, Flexx, E-Sir, Jimwat, Nonini, Klepto, Czars, Longombas, Redsan, Deux Vultures, Historians, Prezzo, Wyre, Mr. Lenny, Jua Cali and Nameless.

Today, we will focus on the last two names i.e Nameless and Jua Cali simply because they are big deal up to this very day, aren’t they though?

We want to find out who between the two made your childhood memorable and the song that brings back the good old memories.

Old School Vs New School: Which ratchet music is more enjoyable?

The emergence of the new crop of Kenyan musicians has resulted into people comparing them with their older peers i.e. those who have been in the game for longer, say a decade or so.

While the new-age artists are spontaneous, the older folk are more ‘calculative’ which means that they think every move through carefully and perhaps this works to their detriment.

There is also the obvious fact that the younger folk are very ratchet going by the words that they use in their songs and their videos. On the other hand, old school artists are kind of reserved.

Most of the older folk are still using the Tanzanian approach of singing about dirty things i.e stuff is hidden and coming at a time when almost everyone is being raunchy, this doesn’t serve in their best interest or does it?

If you are keen, then I’m sure that you’ve noticed that the likes of Jua Cali, Redsan, Nameless, Wyre and Nonini don’t get much as they used to back it they day.

We have reached a point where they are almost unheard of and the truth is that this has a lot to do with the new crop of Kenyan artists because they are literally hogging the spotlight.

Unlike their older peers, they don’t wait for a song to ‘marinate’ before they drop another one, they are always on toes. This way, they are always on people’s lips.

At the end of the day, when all is said and done, if you are a big fan of Kenyan music like yours truly then you have to decide where your loyalty really lies.

Are you sticking with the old school music that is more reserved but enjoyable and you wouldn’t be shy to listen to in front of your parents.

Or are you an ardent fan of new-school music with all it raunchiness and you can live with the fact that you have to cover your face in shame when it comes on and an elder person is around.

Kenyans don’t appreciate Redsan at all

I honestly feel like Kenyans don’t really appreciate Swabri Mohammed, alias Redsan. We can debate about this until the cows come home but it’s a fact.

In my opinion, Redsan is one most hardworking artists not only in Kenya but in the East African region as well. His work really stands out.

Somehow, people don’t appreciate his craft yet his music approach is unique. If you asked anyone about any reggae or dance hall artist from East Africa, they’ll probably mention Redsan first.

Unlike many Kenyan artists, Redsan actually goes an extra mile and does not use controversy to market his music or acquire a fan base.

Until last year when he beat up his producer for delaying his album, there was no controversial story about Redsan. I digress.

If you look at his latest releases including Rio, Back it Up, Pon Di Corner – where Kendi featured him, you’ll realize that he puts so much work into his music.

Take for example Rio. I honestly feel that it’s Redsan’s best work yet. He really went out of his way in that jam. The song was shot by Sesan – who is one of the best video directors in the continent.

That aside, Rio such a beautiful composition. Redsan is actually spitting bars in Portuguese or is Mexican? Anyway, that song is dope.

Funny enough, the song only garnered 130,000 views on YouTube, which is a dismal performance by any standards since the song was released more than two months ago.

His other releases including Pon Di Corner barely garnered 50,000 views  and why is this  the case? Do we as Kenyans feel that Redsan is not doing enough?

I honestly feel that it’s about time we started appreciating Redsan, because why not? Is he putting effort? Hell yes!

Redsan the king of hiphop is back with ‘Back It Up’ video

Redsan the Hiphop king does not disappoint. Back it up is his new single. It comes after his latest collaboration with Kendi on Pon Di Corner. This guy is just talented. He has a great voice. Back It Up comes with a lot of energy. Am sure it is what you need to train your waist. Was this an Eid treat? And if so we need more Eid’s. The Kenyan hiphop singer has dominated the hiphop industry for a long time and he is still doing great.

Back It Up is a success. The production crew did a good thing. It was directed by the super director Sesan. I must say that this video is good. The choice of background is in line with the song. Come to think of the effect it has on the song. Looking for the dancehall mood? You just need to watch Back It Up.

Video quality is of International standards and the audio is worth it. There is enough creativity and a lot of work brought out in this video.

There is no doubt that Redsan is creative. The kind of artwork he has used in Back It Up is good. He has delivered the lyrics so well. Listen on how he flows. Repetition is evident in the stanza. The style gives the song life. It is in the repetition that we grasp the title of the song.

His choice of words is always unique. I would compare him to Jamaican Dance-hall artists. The way he uses swahili and English in his work and you can only notice this if you are keen on the lyrics.

In conclusion, Redsan is a very talented artist who has thrived in hip-hop for so long now. Back It Up is a jam that targets the youths and also club fans. You can always dance to the tune. Back It Up gets a rating of 7/10.

So let me whine “Pon Di Corner” Kendi featuring Redsan. Best Collabo Ever.  This is part of her first album  which is planned for release in October 2019.  This banger just shows how Kendi is talented in singing and composing of songs. This is her third release in 2019. This collaboration is just amazing. The duo has just shown that they can work together for better things. Although the song is so good, it can only be played in a club. It is a jam worth listening too. Redsan is just so great in what he does.

Pon Di Corner was composed and written by Redsan. The audio was produced by Scotch Fingazz Mixed and mastered by Lucas. Also the video was directed and shot by a super director Jordan Hoechlin,  Co-produced and released by Belazzo Entertainment and Don Palazzo.Looking   at the video, it was given the required attention. The set was well designed and costume is in line with the target of the song which seems to be that of a club. Redsan and Kendi just gave the song all the energy required more so with their voices which fit in very well. The beats to the song are so attractive, am sure when you listen to the song you will want to keep dancing. The background identifies with the song. It was shot in a club and the choice of vixens does not dissappoint.

The jam, Pon Di Corner has good artwork. The lyrics are so good and all you wanna do is keep replying the jam. “So let me whine “Pon Di Corner”.  Just look at how the booty goes down, you will love it. This verse being the chorus is done so well  and Kendi brings it out so well. I like the part where Redsan sings in Swahili and English; “Mi napenda unavyo whine on my body girl, mwili wako so natural, wacha nikushow how special you are.” This guy got talent.

Redsan should go on and do more collabos, they seem to be working for him. I give the song a rating of 8/10. This jam is so great from the beats to the voices.

“Have mad respect for him” Khaligraph Jones comments on Redsan’s assault on producer Dr Sappy

Redsan has been wagging on people’s tongues after he clobbered popular producer Dr Sappy. In a leaked audio, the dancehall star is heard arguing with the producer before pouncing on him.

Sappy later on shared photos showing the injuries he sustained after Redsan beat him up. According to the producer, Redsan stormed the studio were he was working and started assaulting him without him.

Khaligraph Jones has weighed in on Redsan’s assault on Sappy. The rapper was keen not to squarely blame Redsan but he indicated that artists are being frustrated by producers.

“Inachekesha. That is the G. we have a song coming out together. Mad respect. When I saw that and I see people leaving comments, ohhh msanii hafai kufanay hivyo. they don’t know the amount of frustration wasanii hupitia with producers,” Khaligraph told Mpasho.

Deserve to be beaten

Khaligraph also hinted that some producers need to be beaten up. He claimed that some producers deliberately refuse to release musicians’ songs even after the recording is done.

“Wajua wasanii wanapigia producer na hashikii simu. Umefanya na mtu ngoma, ushaambia fans nyimbo inatoka, producer hatoi nyimbo. Wewe! Utapigwa!” said Khaligraph.

 

Shame! Tiwa Savage reveals how Kenyan event organizers left her stranded after Redsan’s gig

Tiwa savage among other top artists were in the country this past weekend to attend Redsan’s album launch. However, turns out that everything did not run as smoothly as we thought.

Earlier this morning Nigerian song bird came out to expose the event organizers behind Redsan’s event for ignoring her just after the gig was over.

Apparently they did not pay for her hotel room and neither did they provide a car to take her to the airport. The annoyed singer revealed this through her Twitter page leaving many shocked.

Tiwa Savage went on to reveal that the organizers switched off their phones now that the event was done.

According to Tiwa Savage these same organizers used to blow up her phone begging her to show up and now they disappeared leaving her with a hotel bill to Carter for. She wrote saying;

Dancehall star Swabri Mohammed popularly known as Redsan as revealed why he decided to keep his family off social media completely.

Speaking during an exclusive interview with Nation, Redsan explains that he decided to keep his family off social media so as to protect them from cyber-attacks from haters who can’t get to him.

“I am married but you’ll never see my family, not even on social media. I’m very private when it comes to them because there are times they would want to be themselves and they can’t do that with me in public. I love spending time with them at home since I tour a lot, and they keep me grounded. I don’t want them to be victims of cyber-attacks from haters who can’t get to me,” said Redsan

The dancehall star however revealed that he is a father to three children – a son and two daughters. He also disclosed that he is expecting a fourth child soon.

“My wife is Kenyan and very beautiful. We have three kids; a son and two daughters. We are also expecting another child. We will know his or her sex after birth because we love the surprise.”

Redsan is releasing a fifth album ‘The Baddest’ this coming Saturday September 15th, the album launch will be graced by among others, Jamaica’s Demarco and Nigeria’s Tiwa Savage.

The Kenyan dancehall star also opened up about being signed to the same record label with music stars like Alikiba and Wizkid. (Kiba was signed by Sony Music in 2016, he is however being managed by ROCKSTAR4000).

“I’m the first Kenyan releasing an album under a major record label, Alikiba and Wizkid are my label mates. I’d like for other Kenyans to try and tap into that avenue,” said Redsan.

 

Millionaire dancehall artist KRG teams up with Redsan for a new song

KRG a popular and quite rich Kenyan dancehall artists has teamed up with Redsan for his new project set to be dropped soon.

The two artists are said to have flown all the way to Dubai where they shot the video. Judging from the photos shared on their social media pages seems like the video is going to be quite interesting.

Redsan and KRG did their best while picking out the video vixen who will give many a reason to watch the music video. In the past KRG we have heard fellow artists claiming that the dancehall singer is quite generous when it comes to making his videos.

Anyway, as for now all we know is that the much anticipated video will be out by December.

King Kaka: Sauti Sol hawajasaidia industry

Zero chills! King Kaka has fired shots at Kenya’s music heavyweights whom he accuses of doing little to grow the 254 music industry.

Speaking in an interview with Radio Maisha to promote his new song ‘Run Ting’ with Fena Gitu, King Kaka sensationally claimed the likes of Nameless, Redsan and Sauti Sol hadn’t done enough to push for the growth of Kenya’s music industry.

“They (Sauti Sol) are at the top. Hao ndio number one nawa respect, I give them total respect…but ni ukweli. Hawajasaidia industry,” said King Kaka during the interview.

“Nameless pia ako kwa hiyo list. Redsan sasa hata hajasaidia, amesaidia Chameleone uko,” he added when asked about Redsan and Nameless.

Juacali is the only artiste that King Kaka hailed for his contribution to the growth of Kenyan music industry, he said the King of Genge groomed the likes of Mejja.

The sultry Victoria Kimani was paired up with Redsan in a new song that is already causing tongues to wag. Yes, she did her magic in the song.

Crème De La Crème featured Redsan and Victoria Kimani to release a new hit dubbed ‘Live It Up’. But it is only Redsan and Victoria who sing in the song.

Crème is emulating American record producer DJ Khaled who is known to bring together music heavyweights to feature in his songs even though he doesn’t sing in those songs.

‘Live It Up’ was officially launched on the Trend last Friday June 30th by Crème but the video was only uploaded on YouTube on Tuesday July 4th.

Redsan and Victoria Kimani did justice in the song, perfect. Victoria charmed her male fans with her titillating dance and dress, she simply oozed sexiness.  Watch the video below:

Dancehall artist Redsan shares a never seen before photo of his son, meet the handsome boy!

There is no doubt that Redsan is the king of dancehall music in Kenya. He however likes to keep his life on the low to avoid people meddling in his business – an art most celebrities in the country have mastered.

However, not everybody knows that he is married to Delilah, a renowned model who also happens to be the mother of his kid(s).

Anyway, just recently the artist shared a photo hanging out with his adorable son then later pulled down the photo but luckily I managed to get a screenshot making rounds on social media.

Looking at the photo there is no doubt that the small boy took after his dad’s handsome looks. He is one handsome boy who is probably 4 or 5 years now. This was however the first time the fella shared his baby’s photo introducing him to his online family.
