Raila Junior, a man who had promised to sponsor rap group Ethic in shooting their videos, has come out to reveal that he’s not a fan of their new song because of the message.
His words come just days after KFCB boss Ezekiel Mutua urged Kenyans to boycott the group’s new song dubbed Tarimbo which he claims advocates for rape.
Guidance
In his statement, Junior said that although he promised to sponsor their songs, he didn’t want them to go into such direction. He added that urge to have Youtube views might have forced them into that direction.
“For those unaware in the past I have praised Ethic for their creativity and unique sound that’s original and fresh, however, I feel in trying to outdo themselves while chasing ratings they may have overstepped the bold line of what is ethically correct,” he stated.
Raila Junior added that he will be talking to the music group and the manager so that he can offer his guide and advise on some issues.
“I will seek to guide rather than condemn them as I feel they hold the key to reaching what may be an already marginalized and isolated part of society of young urban inner-city youth,” he wrote.
Being new to the limelight they #ethic need to be made aware of their spear of influence on impressionable young Kenyans. #Tarimbo . pic.twitter.com/h5bKV2JeZ6
