Saumu Mbuvi rubs shoulders with Rachel Shebesh as they meet in New York (Photos)

Saumu Mbuvi warmed up to Rachel Shebesh when they met in New York. The former Nairobi Women Representative has had a frosty relationship with Saumu’s dad.

Last year during campaigns Mike Sonko accused Rachel Shebesh of almost ruining his marriage. Of course they later on mend fences and went back to being friends.

No beef

Saumu does not harbor ill feelings towards Shebesh. The two warmed up to each other on the sidelines of United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW62) summit in New York.

Saumu and her mother traveled to America to attend the 12 day summit. CSW62 is UN’s largest gathering on gender equality. The summit focuses on the theme, “Challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls”.

Rachel Shebesh’s husband Franklin Ambundo shoots himself

Rachel Shebesh’s husband shot himself with his personal rifle at his home in Nairobi. The 52 year old is currently receiving treatment at Nairobi Hospital.

Apparently Franklin Ambundo accidentally shot himself while he was servicing his Glock 17 gun on Tuesday. Nation reports that police got wind of Ambundo’s alleged accident when he sought treatment at Nairobi hospital.

Police have since determined that Ambundo is a licensed gun holder. Shebesh’s husband is however under investigation to determine whether his story holds water.

Police report indicate that Ambudo’s gunshot wound is on his leg slightly above his knees. This report is contrary to rumors on social media that Shebesh’s husband was attempting suicide.

Sonko and Shebesh have mend fences, the two lawmakers had a beef since 2013 when they had an altercation within parliament building.

Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko and Nairobi Women Rep Rachel Shebesh were tight in the run-up to 2013 general election, but they split after a bitter quarrel in September 2013.

The row between Sonko and Shebesh spilled into the public domain with reports that the two were embroiled in a fight within Parliament buildings on September 26th 2013. This was before the two were said to have a confrontation at Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Sonko and Shebesh were said to have an affair after a series of photos were leaked online

Then came Sonko’s revelation in Kariokor in January 2017; the Nairobi Senator indirectly said that Shebesh almost broke his marriage while addressing a gathering in Kariokor.

“Mimi nawaheshimu wamama sana. Lakini kuna mama mmoja ambaye mlimchagua afanyie wamama kazi, mlipomtuma nyinyi wamama, vijana na watu wa Nairobi kule. Amefika kule sasa yeye kwa ile miaka minne alikuwa ananyang’anya wamama wengine mabwana. Hata mimi nakumbuka siku moja karibu avunje nyumba yangu. Saa hii amechukua MCA mwingine kule… amemnyang’anya MCA. Sisi ni watu tunamcha Mungu sana, tunaogopa Mungu. Wamama wengine waheshimiwe,” Sonko said.

Talk of history having a funny way of repeating itself, Sonko and Shebesh have now settled their differences– just a few weeks into August 8th general election.

The Nairobi Senator was in hospital when Shebesh was being discharged. The Nairobi Women Rep was admitted at Nairobi Hospital weeks ago after she sustained a leg injury.

Sonko carried Shebesh’s handbag, posed for photos with her, escorted her to the car, opened the door for her to get in…such a gentleman.

“Our Women rep Hon. Rachel Shebesh has been discharged from hospital. We did our first strategy meeting as Team TRIPPLE ‘S’ today. I wish her a quick recovery,” Sonko said after Shebesh was discharged from hospital.

Nairobi Women Representative Rachel Shebesh has defused tension caused by the raising political temperature in the country.

Shebesh is recuperating at Nairobi Hospital where she was admitted last week after she sustained a leg injury. The Nairobi Women Rep melted the hearts of all Kenyans when she was seen embracing her fiercest political rival Esther Passaris when she visited her at the hospital.

The Nairobi Women Rep also caused tongues to wag when she showed unfaltering energy and determination; she was transported in an ambulance to Stadion Hotel Kasarani to seek IEBC clearance.

Shebesh was accompanied by medics who pushed her on a wheelchair to have her documents verified by IEBC so that she could be cleared to vie for Nairobi Women Rep seat on a Jubilee ticket.

Her situation reminded Kenyans of 2002, when former president Mwai Kibaki also on a wheelchair presented his papers to the then ECK to be cleared to run for the presidency.
