Telani, popularly known as Queen P, has finally addressed the questions her fans had about her relationship with Willy Paul and her departure from his record label, Saldido International Records. In an interview with Kenya Online Media on July 29, Telani shared insights into her music career, which began long before she joined Saldido, where she was known under a different name and produced various genres that suited her style.

Upon signing with Saldido in November 2021, Telani felt uneasy about adapting to a different musical direction. She expressed a desire to return to her original sound, which led her to rebrand herself as Telani. “I want to be known as Telani… to take that as my brand name forever,” she said, describing her music as a mix of Afropop, dancehall, and other influences.
Telani, the daughter of renowned Mugiithi musician Mike Rua, also cited her education as a reason for leaving the record label after less than a year. She clarified that her working relationship with Willy Paul was positive and that she left to focus on her studies, a decision supported by her family.

Reflecting on her time at Saldido, Telani mentioned learning valuable skills, including beat-making, and praised Willy Paul’s work ethic. She denied having any negative experiences while working with him and expressed openness to future collaborations, noting that despite the many accusations against him, her experience was positive.
Telani is now ready to balance her education with her passion for music, bringing her unique blend of styles to the forefront once again.
