Kenyan rapper Jackson Ngechu, widely known as CMB Prezzo, has turned from secular music to embrace a gospel path.

Prezzo made his debut gospel performance live at the Empowerment Christian Church (ECC) in Nairobi, where he released his first gospel song. Seated in the front row, Rev. Natasha watched with pride as he sang.

CMB Prezzo opens up about challenges with fame, women, and cocaine addiction

Veteran rapper Jackson ‘CMB Prezzo’ Ngechu, now 44, has opened up about the challenges he faced with fame. Gaining prominence in 2004, when his music career took off, Prezzo reflects on how fame negatively influenced his life.

“Fame brings a lot of chaos – distractions, women, drugs – everything. I’m not going to lie, I’ve used drugs. I still smoke weed occasionally. I used to do yayo (cocaine), but I eventually gained control over it. There are some drugs that made me lose myself, and I never touched them again after sobering up,” he confessed.

Yayo is slang for cocaine, which also goes by other names like nose candy, coke, and snow.

Prezzo credits his strong mindset for helping him overcome drug addiction. “I’ve done drugs, but I thank God I never had to go to rehab. I have a strong mind – the drugs never controlled me, I controlled them. I could do drugs and still be at work by 8 a.m. I went on Big Brother Africa (in 2012) for 90 days, and I was fine because the only substances there were cigarettes and alcohol.”

Fame wasn’t just about battling addiction for Prezzo; he also struggled with depression after his highly publicized marriage ended. In 2008, at the peak of his career, he married Diasy Kiplagat, but their marriage only lasted three years. When Diasy filed for divorce in 2012, she accused Prezzo of being a violent, adulterous drug user. Prezzo, who spent KSh 4.5 million on the wedding, blamed fame for the fallout but proudly notes how he has since turned his life around, thanking God for guiding him.

“I’ve been shot in the head at close range and survived. I overdosed on cocaine and spent a week in ICU at Nairobi Hospital, but I’m still here. “Prezzo Says ‘I Told You So!’ as He Reiterates His Claim About Kasmuel Mcoure Being a Clout Chaser”

Prezzo previously labeled Kasmuel Mcoure a clout chaser, accusing him of pretending to champion Gen Z’s interests while seeking personal fame.

“I think he’s just chasing clout. Anyone thinking clearly can see the nonsense this guy is pulling. He’s just out for attention,” Prezzo remarked.

At the time, his comments led some to accuse him of being a hater, with a number of Gen Z supporters defending Kasmuel as a future leader they believed in.

In response, Kasmuel dismissed Prezzo’s claims, suggesting the rapper was too intoxicated by alleged drug use to understand the political landscape.

“What has kept him relevant apart from a hit song he made when I was two or three years old? The only reason Prezzo’s name is back in circulation is because he’s talking about me,” Kasmuel said, later adding, “These are rich kids with no substance,” before correcting himself to “rich kids with substances.”

Now, barely a month later, Prezzo has returned to assert that his original assessment was correct. Following accusations that Kasmuel Mcoure had betrayed the Kenyan public by aligning with the current government, Prezzo posted a smug “I told you so,” saying:

“I gave my opinion and y’all came for me. Now look, your ‘messiah’ has sold you out for perks from the likes of Zakayo. That’s life,” Prezzo wrote.

Prezzo speaks out after collapsing at Bahati’s show launch

Rapper Prezzo has addressed the incident where he fainted on the red carpet during the launch of Bahati’s new reality TV show, “The Bahati Empire.”

In a reassuring message to his fans, Prezzo confirmed that he is fine and explained that the incident was due to fatigue from overworking.

“Contrary to the news circulating on social media about my health and the red carpet incident last night, I want to let everyone know that I am well. Remember, it’s not easy being the President 😉. The rapper mentioned that he plans to take a break from his busy schedule to rest and spend quality time with his family.

He also thanked Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who publicly expressed his admiration for Prezzo’s music.

“For now, I just want to take some time out and relax with my family. Congrats to Bahati Empire for the excellent job. I also want to thank His Excellency Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for the accolades and for supporting an industry we built with blood, sweat, and tears. The future is bright for the industry as a whole. Blessed weekend and, as always… I love you all! Prezz,” Prezzo added.

The incident occurred on Thursday, June 6, when Prezzo fainted during an interview with online media. He was quickly assisted by those nearby and recovered within a few minutes. After resting briefly, he rejoined the event and was acknowledged by DP Gachagua as a pioneer in the Kenyan music industry.

This isn’t the first time a musician has fainted in public. Recently, fellow artist Stivo Simple Boy experienced a similar situation during an appearance on the 10 Over 10 show on Citizen TV. Stivo Simple Boy later explained that he felt stressed during the interview and attributed his collapse to overwhelming pressure.

Prezzo opens up about dating Goldie

Kenyan rapper Prezzo has revealed the serendipitous beginnings of his relationship with the late Big Brother star Goldie, who tragically passed away at the age of 31.

During an appearance on the Iko Nini Podcast, Prezzo recounted how their connection emerged from lighthearted banter and evolved into a genuine fondness for one another. “In the beginning, it was all fun and games, but 90 days is a long time,” he explained. “We developed a deep affection for each other, but God loved her more and took her away.

Prezzo expressed his gratitude to Big Brother for bringing them together, acknowledging that their paths would never have crossed without the show.

In February 2013, shortly after returning to Nigeria from attending the Grammy Awards in the US, Goldie, then 31, experienced a severe headache. She was rushed to a Lagos hospital, where she was sadly pronounced dead.

An autopsy revealed that Goldie succumbed to a combination of hypertensive heart disease and intracerebellar hemorrhage. This revelation dispelled rumors that her death was due to complications from doping.

Prezzo and Goldie both participated in Big Brother Africa in 2013. The show ran for 91 days, commencing on May 26, 2013, and concluding on August 25, 2013.

Their connection, forged within the confines of the Big Brother house, blossomed into a meaningful bond that was tragically cut short by Goldie’s untimely demise. Prezzo’s heartfelt reflections serve as a testament to their unique relationship and the lasting impact Goldie left on his life.

Kenyan Rapper Prezzo Confesses To Past Affiliation With Mungiki Sect

In a shocking revelation, acclaimed Kenyan rapper Jackson Ngechu Makini, popularly known as Prezzo, has admitted to his past involvement with the notorious Mungiki sect. During a candid interview on YouTube, Prezzo recounted his nine-year stint as a youth leader within the sect, under the leadership of former sect leader Maina Njenga.

Prezzo’s journey into the Mungiki sect began during a period of deep depression. He received a call from a brother named Andrew, who informed him that Maina Njenga wanted to meet him. Despite his initial reluctance, Prezzo agreed to the meeting and traveled to Njenga’s Karen residence.

At the meeting, Njenga offered Prezzo a position as a youth leader within the Mungiki-like movement. Feeling vulnerable and seeking a sense of purpose, Prezzo accepted the position, despite harboring doubts about the sect’s activities.

Prezzo’s involvement with Mungiki lasted for nine years, during which he played a significant role in the sect’s operations. However, disillusioned by the sect’s violent and illegal activities, he eventually made the difficult decision to leave.

Prezzo’s revelation has sparked a wave of reactions in Kenya, prompting discussions about cult recruitment tactics, the impact of depression on individuals’ decision-making, and the importance of seeking help during challenging times. His story serves as a cautionary tale, highlighting the need for individuals to make informed choices about their affiliations and to reach out for support when facing personal struggles.

Prezzo reveals he was a Mungiki youth leader

Prezzo, a Kenyan rapper, has narrated how he ended up being recruited into the Mungiki group, a feared criminal gang in Kenya. Prezzo was battling depression at the time.

In a revealing YouTube interview, Prezzo recounted how he received a call from Andrew, the brother of Mungiki leader Maina Njenga. Andrew told Prezzo that Njenga wanted to meet him, and Prezzo asked why. Andrew simply replied to come to Karen, where everything was ready for him.

Prezzo went to Karen and met with Njenga. Njenga told Prezzo that he knew he was going through a lot, and that he wanted to help him. He offered Prezzo a place to stay, food, and money. Prezzo was desperate, so he accepted Njenga’s offer.

Prezzo soon realized that he had made a mistake. The Mungiki group was involved in all sorts of criminal activities, including extortion, murder, and rape. Prezzo was forced to participate in these activities, and he lived in constant fear.

After a while, Prezzo managed to escape from the Mungiki group. He has since spoken out against the group, and he is now a vocal advocate for mental health awareness.

Prezzo’s story is a cautionary tale about the dangers of gangs and the importance of seeking help for depression. It is also a story of hope and resilience. Prezzo was able to overcome his challenges and build a better life for himself.

Why You Might Regret Splashing Millions In Wedding Your Spouse

Most people who fancy weddings end up splashing loads of cash to make the ceremony a lavish one. For some, ‘come we stay’ is the way to go while others would simply have their signatures on marriage certificates without necessarily holding a lavish wedding ceremony.

Numerous celebrities globally have managed to pull off brilliant wedding ceremonies. A good epitome is Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who spent ($45.8 million)- approximately Ksh 5,791,410,000.00

This is among the most expensive wedding ceremonies in history.

For some like legendary Kenyan rapper, CMB Prezzo; splashing millions on his wedding with his ex-wife Daisy Kiplagat is a big regret.

The rapper recently expressed his remorse over the exorbitant amount he spent on his wedding with his ex-wife.

The wedding cost him a whopping Sh4.6 million, and looking back, he wishes he had done things differently. Prezzo shared his regrets during an interview on the POV podcast with Cate Rira.

“I spent around Sh4.6 million for my wedding… you live and you learn. Life teaches you some things. If I could do it again, I would do some things differently,” said Prezzo.

Prezzo’s wedding was highly publicized and was all over- including Magazines and on TV.

But Prezzo now claims all that has besmirched his name after his fall-out with his ex-wife.

Failed Marriages

Like Prezzo, so many other people have invested heftily in their weddings; which eventually ended in a cul de sac. These are among the numerous risks that are involved when you invest heavily on someone you’re not sure with.

5 male celebrities we hope to see settle down before the end of 2021

Kenyan men are quite reluctant when it comes to settling down; and I’m thinking this is because the ration between the boy and girl child is 1:4. However does this mean that despite all the years the celebrities listed below have never fallen in love even once?

Anyway below are just a few celebrities we hope to see settle down at least by the end of 2021. No pressure so don’t get me wrong with this!

Sleepy

Sleepy David

Apart from that time he was rumored to be Jacky Vike’s baby daddy; honestly Sleepy has not introduced any of the women he has dated and broken up with in years. If I am not wrong, very few know anything about this young man’s girlfriend or partner. But looking at his agemates, most seem to have started children as they continue to chase the paper; meaning Sleepy can do this too.

DNG

DNG with ex, Yvette

At least we know DNG married and divorced his ex really fast. Their reason for their break up remains unknown to the public; but judging from a post shared by DNG back then – he made many believe that his ex wife was the problem. He wrote;

“I dumped a really hot chic (Yvette) who had a really dark heart and a shitty personality,”

And 4 years down the line DNG is being accused of being a fisi who has been exposed severally on social media. So between him and ex wife, who really had the problem? But hey, the clock is ticking!

Prezzo

CMB Prezzo

Apart from being a father of many, rapper Prezzo should by now be thinking of settling down. At 40 ‘something’ this man should now be a family man. His ex Michelle Yola already settled down with a French man who is now the father of her 2 daughters.

However, since Yola left there are no signs of the fella settling down – but hopefully he too will meet someone soon.

Mustafa Colonel

Marya and Colonel Mustafa

After Noti Flow exposed Colonel Mustafa for being being… Im not sure whether we should be talking about marriage since same sex marriage is prohibited in Kenya. But hey, he also dates women meaning Mustafa can also settle down if he wishes.

After his break up with Marya (whose marriage to Kevin was shaky) Mustafa has not thought of having his own family. Right now he must be in his early 40’s and still no family to show like his peers i.e Nyashinski, Nonini, Jua Cali among others.

Fundi Frank

Fundi Frank

Just to be safe, ill start by saying Fundi Frank who was quite popular back in the day has never introduced his family on social media; leave alone being spotted with a woman suspected to be his lover.

This could be because he is a low key fella; but hey, even just once? Anyway lets not judge what we can’t see but honestly he should give us a reason to talk. Right?

P Unit’s collabo with Prezzo was long overdue!

You may or may not know this but about a week ago, P Unit dropped a new jam with Prezzo dubbed Hop Step and it’s so good that it left me wondering why they had never gotten into studio before.

Also read: Prezzo deserves to have a docu-series made about his life

I don’t know why but I have always assumed that P Unit has a track with Prezzo but as it turns out that is not the case. However, the latter featured in Here We Go which had the likes of Gabu, Kristoff and Magix Enga.

P Unit

Prezzo really came through on their collabo. He has a somewhat hoarse voice that really spices up a song and makes you want to listen to it over and over.

Of course, he also has a good flow and that Swahili accent is the reason why some of us won’t stop listening to that jam anytime soon.

P Unit also did  good job on this track. Although Bon Eye was conspicuously missing, Frasha and Gabu did a decent job and if you are not so keen you would not even notice that the former is not on this jam.

Prezzo
Prezzo

Just like Prezzo, Frasha has a unique voice and that is why the hook for this jam sounds so good. Notably, Gabu also had a sick verse, I was really impressed by the wordplay.

I can only hope that they will release more projects in future. Also if you are reading this Prezzo, we need new music from you man. It’s been a minute!

Watch Hop Step below.

Eric Musyoka, the iconic producer who took Kenyan music to greater heights

It’s hard to talk about Kenyan music without mentioning the name of Decimal Records CEO Eric Musyoka, popularly known as Musyox. He has been very instrumental in shaping the Kenyan sound.

Also read: Stop looking for content from new-age musicians!

In the early to mid 2000s when Calif Records and Ogopa Deejays were beefing, the award-winning producer, who is now 38, was working at Homeboyz Entertianment.

Musyoka

While at the stable which is owned by the Rabar family, Musyoka produced songs for the musicians like; Prezzo, TID, Mr Lenny, Nameless, AY, Wyre, Peter Miles, Nikki, Nonini, just to name a few.

He then took a break and went for further studies at the SAE Institute in the US in 2006. Upon his return, he formed Decimal Records and signed P-Unit.

If you ask me, I will tell you that the group that was made up Frasha, Bon Eye and Gabu is one of Musyoka’s greatest achievements to this day. He literally propelled them to greater heights.

Musyoka and Bon Eye

What most people do not know is that the three started off as Nonini’s dancers and back-up singers and by 2010 they had won several awards including a MTV Africa Music Award (MAMA). Take a moment and let that sink in.

At Decimal, Musyoka has also worked with Just A Band, Juliani, Daddy Owen, Sauti Sol, Elani, Octopizzo and many more. Put simply, there is a high chance that he has produced a jam for your favourite Kenyan artist.

When all is said and done, he will be remembered for nurturing talents and taking Kenyan music to the continental stage because he started  producing music at a time when most artists were just focusing on their local audiences.

Musyoka is one of the producers who changed the game by ensuring our music could transcend our borders and this led to artists getting so many shows outside the country.

He’s a legend in his own right and it saddens me that most people will realize this after he hangs up his boots because as they say, you never miss something until it’s gone.

Watch one of his most popular jams dubbed Furahi Day by Nonini and Nameless below.

Prezzo celebrates 40th birthday! Here are 7 photos that prove he has been aging like fine wine over the years

Prezzo is finally on the 4th floor and so far, he has no regrets but thankful for everything life has given him.

To celebrate the great milestone, Prezzo recently revealed that he will be throwing a lit birthday party that will see most of his celebrity friends attend.

Although he seems to have taken some time off releasing new music (or retired) the fella continues to wow his fans with his amazing and youthful style that will definitely not be fading anytime soon.

Prezzo the good father

Anyway apart from his businesses and music career; Prezzo is everything that defines a good father, that is judging from his social media posts.

During his free time the fella prefers hanging out with his daughter who seems to have taken after him. The two are inseparable and their bond keeps getting stronger especially now that he is aging and getting wiser.

Check out some of his amazing photos below!

Prezzo refutes claims that he was hospitalized after being rapped by 3 women

Rapper Prezzo has come out to defend himself from a story claiming he is currently receiving treatment at the Karen hospital after being drugged and raped by several women.

Rapper Prezzo

The story which was first highlighted by a Tanzanian blog has left many shocked with the news as it claims Prezzo got assaulted by 3 unknown women.

Swahili Times went on to announce the news saying;

Prezzo

Prezzo refutes

Prezzo has however denied the story as he says this is a fabricated story.

Not quite sure where Swahili Times got the story from, but it seems that Prezzo is doing just fine!

Prezzo’s new collabo with Kenyan EC dubbed ‘Nitakupata’ is a big tune (Video)

Rapper Jackson Ngechu Makini, alias Prezzo has teamed up with upcoming singer Kenyan EC on his latest release dubbed Nitakupata and we are really feeling it.

Nitakupata is a Swahili word that means I’ll get you and as the title suggests, this song is about a guy who wants to convince a certain lass that he is really interested in her. As such, he assures her that he will win eventually.

Prezzo proves that he’s still got in this jam with his witty rhymes. There’s a part where he says, “Nitakushika, nitaku pakasa, ntakupeleka cloud tisa utupe rada na kisha utanchorea saba.” You guy.

Prezzo
Prezzo

Kenyan EC did not disappoint either. In my opinion, he did well for an upcoming singer. Maybe, just maybe we will hear more greatness from him soon.

The beat for this jam is simple. However, that does not mean that you can not bump to it. As I was listening to it, I could visualize people dancing to it in a club.

The video for this jam is an animation. However, it was terribly executed. There’s nothing to write home about it.

Listen to Nitakupata below and tell us what you think. You better get some good earphones.

Wish time could be turned back! Huddah Monroe regrets sleeping with Prezzo

Huddah Monroe and Prezzo dated long ago before she became rich and famous. The petite socialite however regrets her sweet moments with the bad boy rapper.

For starters, Prezzo is the lucky guy who took away Huddah’s innocence. Last year in a post on social media, Huddah saluted the rapper for popping her cherry.

“Buried the hatchet…. And the once love of my life ….The nigga that broke my virginity (T.M.I???) will be coming thru to HUDDAH MILLION PARTY ? … El Presidente @prezzo254 ?? WE DONT TURN UP ⬆️…. WE TURN OVER ↗️…….??? #HuddahMillionParty #huddahlove,” wrote Huddah.

A source close to the socialite told Tanzanian daily Ijumaa Wikienda that Lulu was knocked up by her boyfriend a while back when she stayed with him in Nairobi.

Apparently Lulu terminated the pregnancy before the baby bump became visible. The source further reveals that the socialite didn’t even tell Prezzo she was expectant.

“Unajua Amber alipopata ujauzito huo nahisi alikuwa hana maelewano mazuri na Prezzo akaona amfiche kwanza kusikilizia kama wataelewana,” the source told Ijumaa Wikienda.

Prezzo hints he has stopped drinking alcohol years after frustrating Betty Kyallo live on KTN

Prezzo has been a slave of alcohol for years. The rapper is best remembered for the January 2016 incident at KTN when he sparked national uproar.

Prezzo turned up at KTN for interview with Betty Kyallo while drunk like a fish. The rapper started flirting with Betty who at the time was still married to Dennis Okari.

He even fondled Betty on live broadcast prompting the KTN anchor to call for a commercial break just to get away from Prezzo.

No more alcohol?

Prezzo has hinted he has stopped drinking liquor for good. The rapper shared a message on social media urging people to stop drinking alcohol.
