Former Tahidi High actor Omosh Kizangila has opened up about his struggles with alcohol and drug addiction. In a recent interview with Obinna TV, Omosh shared his journey from his first encounter with alcohol after finishing high school to his eventual recovery.
Omosh, whose real name is Joseph Kamau, described how his life changed after he started drinking. He attributed his fall into addiction to the influence of friends who introduced him to alcohol and cigarettes.

He reflected on how the friends he chose played a significant role in shaping his future, saying, “In life, if there’s anyone who decides your future, it’s not the teacher or the parent, but the friends you choose in life…they are the ones who define your destiny.”
Omosh recounted how he funded his addiction through his job as a conductor after high school and struggled with his drinking habits throughout his college years, which he ultimately could not complete due to his addiction. His alcohol abuse led to severe health issues, including ulcers, and required surgery.
Despite his recovery from surgery, he fell back into drinking due to peer pressure. His alcohol dependency became so severe that he could not eat without drinking first. “A large percentage of my blood was alcohol…I couldn’t eat unless I drank first,” Omosh admitted.

After numerous failed attempts to quit, Omosh eventually overcame his addiction through personal resolve and has since embraced sobriety and Christianity. He now advises young people to steer clear of alcohol due to its detrimental effects. Omosh, a father of three daughters, has left his past habits behind and is focusing on his new path.
