‘One day I woke up and I have no voice’ Ommy Dimpoz shares how mysterious sickness almost ended his career

Tanzanian Bongo Fleva star Ommy Dimpoz was in and out of the hospital for the better part of last year following a throat infection.

The singer revealed the difficult journey he walked through the sickness saying that his music career almost went up in flames.

Complications

Dimpos revealed how he panicked when he woke up one day and found out that he could not speak. His voice was lost and he could not sing.

“One day I woke up and I have no voice, I went to the doctor and he told me that one of my Vocal code was paralysed. To make it worse the doctor said that the vocal code could fail completely or come back. I was very frustrated. I could not sing. When I asked the doctor he said that I could have been poisoned.  It has been the most difficult season of my life because of the many surgeries i had to go through. However, I thank God for the healing and the fans who were there for me.” he said. 

The ‘Nai Nai’ hitmaker developed serious complications on his throat while attending Alikiba’s wedding in Mombasa in April last year.

He underwent major surgery in South Africa sometimes in June 2018. He was operated on his throat in a procedure that that lasted for 12 long hours.

Singer Ommy Dimpoz has made his first public appearance since last year December following his returned to Kenya after his second stint in hospital in Germany.

The Bongo singer had been taken to hospital for a second time for check up after he developed complications in his throat. In the beginning of 2018, the singer was in South Africa for throat surgery in a process that saw him spend about 15 days in hospital.

He was then later taken to Germany in December for check up a thing that started rumors that the singer had passed away.

His manager, together with Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, however, refuted the claims saying that singer was flown for a routine check up after the surgery.

It seems the surgery was successful and now the singer is back looking better. He has even gained some weight meaning the surgry has really helped.

Singer Willy Paul shared a photo with him and soon, if everything goes as planned, it seems Ommy will be back on his feet and ready to make beautiful music allover again.

Tanzanian singer Ommy Dimpoz’s dad has revealed the type of woman his son and younger men in general should strive to get.

Faraji Nyembo shared some of the qualities men should look for in woman and not just to be blinded by her beauty like most are today.

Nyembo went on to list qualities such as fear of God, great planning skills, wisdom and home-making abilities as what men should consider.

“You know Dimpoz is his mother’s only child, and his mother is now late. When looking for a woman to settle down with, he should get a God-fearing one, who will be proud of him and be a good partner to him. He should tie the knot with a woman who will be like a mother to him. He shouldn’t prioritise a woman’s physique, facial features or celebrity status,” said Nyembo.

Just a hug

His statement comes less than a month after Dimpoz was spotted with Zari Hassan and rumors started swirling that the two might be having something.

Zari, however, later came out to shoot down the rumors saying the two are friends and just shared a passionate hug that led to the rumors.
