The beauty of love is that it knows no boundary nor does it recognize age. Well, we have confirmed this after coming across new wedding photos of mama OJ aka Dennis Mugo who got married on Tuesday, 27th April.
According to OJ who made the announcement through his Instagram page; the former actor celebrated his 60 something year old mum for finally settling down with the love of her life. From the photos, it’s also clear to see that this was a low key white wedding; that saw close friends and relatives attend.
Through his IG page, the former actor shared a couple of photos and a video from the wedding ceremony to which he captioned;
My mother got married today she kedo 60. Love such a wonderful thing. #nevertoolate. cheers mama ????
Never too late

Friends of OJ could also not hold back from celebrating their ‘mum’ for the new milestone. A close friend of OJ, Abel Mutua also wrote a congratulatory message saying;

Former Tahidi High actor OJ has been having it rough ever since he became a famous actor. According to him, being a celebrity made him overlook the fact that life is always changing as time goes by.
The 35 year old media personality opened up about his past life through his YouTube show. Speaking for the first time, OJ admitted to having been an alcoholic and unfortunately all the money he made during his acting days was squandered in alcohol.
According the fella, during this phase he never thought of putting anything on the side; or even setting up a business to ensure all his earnings are invested somewhere.
Uceleb nayo ikacome through, nayo mimi nilikuwa Celeb big fish, Nivea sijui wako na show kuja. Na uceleb ikaingia kwa akili. Now you can imagine you are an alcoholic, you are a celebrity, kila mtu ukipita tao anakujua…
To him, the fame came and went; but it only changed his life for the worst. He became a full blown alcoholic and lost a loving wife who had given him a handsome son. He went on to add;
but it came and went. As fast as it came as fast as it left. But as soon as it went, I went into a downwards spiral…then I went into drinking, at that time nimeget my son Ethan, Baby Mama. Siku hizi ni baby mama hizo time alikuwanga wife but akaniacha Sababu ya hii alcoholism. Na depression ya jamaa kuwa top huko A-list to ground zero” posed OJ.
But thanks to his friends from back in the day and a strong support system; OJ has finally managed to pick up the pieces and is currently working on himself.
Actress Catherine Kamau and her team continue to support one of their own, OJ aka Dennis Mugo who had been drowning in alcoholism for years. Unlike many know, OJ had a tough time battling with his addiction that led to his downfall a few years back.
Speaking through his Youtube show dubbed ‘AKI SI POA’ OJ popularly known for his role on Tahidi High; went on to open up revealing unknown details about his life behind the cameras.
According to him life wasn’t as easy as many thought, this is because he had already started using alcohol and cigarettes at the age of 15 and 16 years. So by the time he landed his role on Tahidi High, his skills in partaking alcohol and smoking was on a different level.
I started smoking in Form 2 and in Form 3, I started taking alcohol. From chang’aa to anything I would get along.
For the very first time OJ admitted to having wasted his potential; and of curse a lot of time trying to figure himself by using alcohol. OJ went on to confess this by saying;
“The habit has affected me years down the line. I’m turning 35 years but I have been hiding from the mess.”
Catherine Kamau’s message
Being in the same industry and having seen where OJ has come from; Catherine Kamau joined the many fans encouraging OJ not to give up! Through her instagram, the actress who is married to Phil Karanja went on to write;
It takes loads of courage to tell your story while still on the journey to becoming the best version of yourself. I am proud of you @dennismugooj , you are about to save a generation by telling this story , keep going ???????? …
Phil Karanja being a close friend to OJ, I am pretty sure they have seen this hit rock bottom; and now that he is finally realizing himself – all they can do is support his new projects!
Actor OJ had already established a name for himself back in the day when he was featured as the main star on TV show, Tahidi High. Back then, the fella was untouchable and thanks to his acting career; he managed to make his first million!
However speaking on his latest episode on YouTube, OJ went on to reveal how the world taught him the hard way; right after letting the idea of being a celebrity take over his head.
According to the fella, most his money was squandered on alcohol and smoking. With a million shillings at such a young age, this made it possible for the actor to enjoy life on the fast lane; something he still regrets till date.
I learnt alcoholism and smoking. I started smoking in Form 2 and in Form 3, I started taking alcohol. From chang’aa to anything I would get along. The habit has affected me years down the line. I’m turning 35 years but I have been hiding from the mess. I made my first million, but what did I do with it? Nothing,”
Regrets after the fall
According to OJ at the time he was making this money; he had no idea what to do with it – a silly decision he continues to regret till date.
Do you ever look at your friends and get jealous of their growth, especially when you look at where you are and how focused they were back then?
His former Tahidi High co stars i.e Abel Mutua have however invested wisely and currently run a production company with Phil the director.
I didn’t invest well because of bad habits, which till today hit me. I got to a point I fell into depression. I could cover it with alcohol, humour and cigarettes.
He went on to add;
The celebrity mentality got into my head. I was a big name and the fame left as fast as it came. After the show ended, I started to wonder why the people who were calling me for jobs were not looking for me anymore,
And lastly…right after making some good money; the former actor says he decided to settle down but unfortunately his marriage did not last for long. This is because his wife walked out on him after realizing that he had a problem with alcoholism.
