Octopizzo is not wrong about Kenyans not supporting our own but…

Octopizzo has spoken out in defence of Otile Brown and other Kenyan artists who he feels are not fully appreciated by Kenyans. You see, all this started with Kenyans celebrating the news that Diamond Platnumz latest song “Waah” had set some record although I have a friend who pointed out that it had not broken Davido’s record for his jam “Fem“. But anyway, this is what got Namba Nane’s finest going.

Octopizzo bashes Kenyans for supporting Diamond Platnumz while ignoring Otile Brown, they respond swiftly

You see, what happened was that Kenyans took to social media cheering Diamond Platnumz’recent win yet just a few weeks ago, Otile Brown had scored a major win for the Kenyan entertainment scene and Kenyans were silent about the matter. This is something that got Octopizzo’s blood boiling and trust that he had a lot to say about the matter.

Octopizzo has a new jam dubbed Kanye
Octopizzo criticized Kenyans

Through his Twitter account, he said,

Octopizzo makes history, becomes first Kenyan rapper to make it to the Grammy Awards Consideration List

“MFs out here Gassing Diamond but will not support Otile Brown. The mediocrity on this platforms.”

Octopizzo Knaye singer born and raised in Kibera
Octopizzo is right about the way Kenyans celebrate foreign acts

Thing is, regardless of what you think about Octopizzo, he does have a point and I have raised it here before. You see before an artist can become a full-fledged star, he or she has to have their homegrown support network. Before Otile Brown can really conquer Africa, he has to first get the unwavering support of Kenyans. And I do not care what anyone says, Otile Brown is one of the leading lights interms of talent in Kenya. And he has been amassing a following but in truth, Kenyans are ashamed to publicly declare their support of their own and this is problematic.

“Unafanya handshake?” Fans react to Octopizzo’s congratulatory message to Khaligraph Jones

And while everyone wants to take aim at Octopizzo for being a hypocrite for saying this while he is still beefing with Khaligraph Jones, I would argue that he is one but for a different reason altogether. You see, at the height of his fame and popularity, Octopizzo would routinely refuse to collaborate and build up local acts.

Octopizzo
Octopizzo has carried on his beef with Khaligraph Jones

He was a spotlight hog and while he did indeed collaborate with a few artists, they were usually the exception to his rule. Whenever Octopizzo was asked to support a local artist, he would refuse to but in a coy manner, never mind that he didn’t even have a project he was dropping. And Kenyans picked up on his energy. As a result, they refuse to have him be the one to champion the cause of Kenyan artists.

Octopizzo made a fool of himself by supporting MCSK

It is true, we are a garbage tier fandom and fanbase but it should not be one who routinely refused to build up with other fellow, compatriot artists telling us where we have messed up. It should be someone who is impartial about dolling out the barbs and bouquets like me. Infact, it should always be me and not Octopizzo. Atleast my criticism is positive and constructive. And only Maureen waititu would debate this last statement.

Siasa moto moto: Octopizzo vs Khaligraph Jones fight over ending Covid19 lockdown

Octopizzo has decided to be the consummate contrarian and has begun attacking Khaligraph Jones for his stand on whether or not to open the country and whether or not to open up the economy to allow Kenyans to get back to earning a living.

Octopizzo is not wrong about Kenyans not supporting our own but…

You see, in all fairness, they both have great reasons backing their arguments. Khaligraph Jones wants to alleviate entertainers’ financial suffering which would also allow all the people who work within the entertainment sector to get back to gainful employment.

Octopizzo
Octopizzo

Octopizzo, on the other hand, seems to be intimately familiar with 50 grandmothers in Kibera who have succumbed to the deaths being caused by Covid19. And so to him, the country is under lockdown for the sake of such “at-risk” demographies.

“Unafanya handshake?” Fans react to Octopizzo’s congratulatory message to Khaligraph Jones

But the truth as they say, is somewhere in between both arguments. Yes, the elderly are indeed dying in droves when exposed to Covid19 but at the same time, the millennial generation and a lot of Gen Z members who aren’t susceptible to Covid19 unless there are underlying circumstances that exacerbate their health situations when exposed to it are more at risk from financial ruin.

Khaligraph Jones
Khaligraph Jones wants to see an end to the lockdown

So what is one to do? Where should one lean in this clash of the titans? With Octopizzo or Khaligraph Jones? Should we expose the youth to financial ruin or should we instead leave the responsibility to take care of themselves to the elderly and obese?

Octopizzo made a fool of himself by supporting MCSK

I am of the opinion that there is both a shallow and deeper reason for the Octopizzo and Khaligraph schism of thought on the matter and how to handle things. For starters, Octo is salty that he was not invited by the OG to be part of the think tank formed to chart a course for how entertainers can be aided. That is the petty reason. And as a result, he is selfishly allowing his fee-fees and ego to lead him on.

Khaligraph Jones, King Kaka
Khaligraph Jones has also found his stance opposed by King Kaka who took shots at the Kayole rapper

The other reason is the clear political lines being drawn up for the elections due next year. Khaligrapph Jones reached out to both Raila Odinga and William Ruto but it was the latter who reached out and not the former who is a member of his ethnic community. Octopizzo on the other hand is leaning towards the argument being pushed by Raila Odinga.

Did Khaligraph Jones sell out or is this smart political play?

I suspect they are both (whether knowingly or ignorantly) entrenching themselves as features of the political schism that will play out between these two principle figures. Octopizzo will try and ingratiate himself to Raila thinking that was what Khaligraph Jones was doing with Ruto.

Octopizzo can pretend to having lofty reasons for standing by Covid19 lockdowns but he doesn’t really make money from the local Kenyan entertainment scene. He has international donors who keep him financially afloat. Khaligraph Jones is the more popular of the two and he makes his money from the local entertainment scene. Perhaps this tidbit of information will help you further understand why the two cannot see things from the same point of view. But at the end of the day, while Khaligraph has attempted to provide a way forward, all Octo has done is complain and bitch. So if all you like doing is to complain, you know with whom you stand.

Did Khaligraph Jones sell out or is this smart political play?

Khaligraph Jones recently cried out to both William Ruto and Raila Odinga for help with the ramifications of the poorly thought out Covid19 lockdown measures that were instituted by Uhuru Kenyatta who doesn’t seem to give a damn about the economy or the suffering these measures have unleashed on Kenyans.

Khaligraph Jones has shown a keen understanding of how politics should be handled

You see, these lockdown measures are bullshit because they fail to take into account the fact that Kenya has no social welfare programs that take care of the underprivileged and affected Kenyans who are struggling to pay rent or earn a living.

khaligraph jones
Khaligraph Jones cried out to the most powerful politicians for help

And entertainers are some of the most affected as their source of livelihood was inordinately targeted and Khaligraph Jones was unhappy that he has been exposed to ruinous circumstances because his main source of income is affected.

It’s about to get lit! Khaligraph Jones and Nyashinski spotted together at unknown recording studio – sparking collabo rumors

When he called out for help, Raila Odinga ignored him but Ruto decided to try and meet up with him and his fellow artists so that they can discuss how best to help the affected artists, DJs, comedians and other entertainers.

Khaligraph has been called out by afew artists for selling out

But now Khaligraph Jones is faced with some measure of blowback from other artists who feel that he has sold out by turning to one of the people who a lot of Kenyans rightfully feel is responsible for putting us in this garbage situation.

Prophecy foretold? Khaligraph Jones’ words of wisdom come back to haunt Shakilla, 2 years later (Video)

King Kaka and Octopizzo are the most vocal in declaring their disagreement with Khaligraph Jones’ approach and I am not too sure why they are pontificating and bellyaching instead of looking for a solution.

King Kaka
Kenyan rapper King Kaka mocked Khaligraph Jones

You see, Khaligraph Jones is an artist but he is also a father and husband. An entire family depends on him to provide for them. And as such, he has to do anything he can to improve his situation so he can get back to earning as much as he possibly can.

Why King Kaka’s plus size video vixen stunt backfired

When it comes to fixing situations, we have to understand that while some might not agree with his approach, they cannot do anything but shut up until they find some course of action that they implement. Activity trounces opinions and suggestions.

Octopizzo
Octopizzo decided to also call out his long-standing nemesis

If Khaligraph Jones is to be condemned for trying to alleviate his personal suffering, it will not be from artists who have done absolutely nothing to solve their own headaches. We cannot foster a culture in which grown men would rather complain and whine than be proactive and take action.

If Octopizzo and King Kaka want to show Khaligraph Jones up, it will only be through action. Them sharing their feelings on social media will not be doing anything because we are in a put up or shut up situation. But time will tell whether or not

Octopizzo made a fool of himself by supporting MCSK

Does anyone remember when Octopizzo came out to vociferously defend MCSK after artists had taken up arms against the body when they previously declared paltry royalties for them?

Octopizzo defends MCSK over ‘peanut’ payments, partly blames Diamond [Interview]

I know Khaligraph Jones and Otile brown remember. I do too. And now he is left looking not only foolish but a lot like someone who was compromised. And that is the worst thing you can ever seem to be in a fraternity that depends on their unity for a collective bargaining agreement to be struck.

Octopizzo
Octopizzo

The turncoat has since been silent and I would have preferred to see Octopizzo come out and own his misspoken statements and perhaps even begin to build a bridge because, at the end of the day, he too is affected by the mismanagement of funds over at MCSK.

Octopizzo, several other artists join MCSK to celebrate collective management day

With all the information coming to light, it could be easy for him to decide that silence is his ally but in reality, it is nothing close. Namba Nane‘s finest needs to actually take responsibility for his statements which went as far as to call out his peers and colleagues. Or perhaps he was misinformed and as a result he spoke off erroneous facts? Whatever the case may be, he needs to lend his voice to the collective cacophony of noises being made in protest over what MCSK has been exposed as having continued -graft.

Octopizzo

Homie legitimately needs to read the room and decide to stand on the right side of history. When you have your peers making heartfelt pleas like the one Otile Brown made:

“Usiwahi post picha yangu mbovu,” an angry Octopizzo publicly blasts King Kaka

Octopizzo’s rant over Conje’s heartbreaking condition should be a wakeup call for the state

One of Kenya’s leading freestyle rapper is in the news again, but for a noble cause.

Octopizzo is a self-made entertainer and rapper with roots in the sprawling Kibera Slums, Nairobi. He has steadily risen to win awards, and command an enviable following in hip hop as a recording and performing artist.

The artist’s roots have hugely influenced an entrepreneur spirit, and notably, his passion in humanitarian activities.

No wonder, then, that the deplorable condition of one of Kenya’s best female pugilists has drawn his attention.

Conjestina Achieng is a former Kenya champion before a gradual but steady slide into obscurity. For a few years now, Conje has battled depression and a mental breakdown that has seen her attend rehabilitation stints. She has repeatedly slid back into the dark abyss, and her present condition is heartbreaking.

Conjestina popularly known as ‘Hands of Stone’ has an impressive boxing record, and boasts one of the most detailed Wikipedia page in the world of sports. She has had 27 fights, winning 17 with 8 wins by knockouts. She has drawn in 4 fights, and lost narrowly in 6 fights.

Conje is without doubt one of the greatest female boxers Kenya has ever had. Or, perhaps, ever have. What then, went down?

Rapper Octopizzo took this issue at hand, on an engaging Twitter thread. In the post, Octopizzo slams the government for ignoring a retired sports icon – after building, branding and feeding off her exploits in the ring for years.

The rapper particularly took issue with the indifference the government treats legends, in favor of ineffectual matters – The infamous Githeri Man case, for instance. The individual shot to fame in the last elections when a camera man captured him on a queue with boiled githeri in a paper bag.

The Githeri Man received a Head of State Commendation (HSC) Award.

The thread has raised an uproar. A large section of Kenyans blamed her downfall on a lot of issues, and non-issues bordering on tribe, and politics.

A few public personalities have been assisting the ailing boxer for a while. The Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko has at a point funded her rehabilitation. Recently, sports journalist Carol Radull has been making personal visits to the former champion.

Rapper King Kaka also joined the discussion, and seeks suggestions for a lasting, sustainable solution to the Conjestina problem.

Kenya owes a lot to Conjestina Achieng, and she deserves a bit of attention. It’s not an armchair discussion of the choices, or lack of, she made during her career.

How Khaligraph Jones completely pummeled Octopizzo in their beef

Khaligraph Jones dominated Octopizzo in the last half of their beef and he did it so definitively that he even went as far as to try to make peace with his former foe, acknowledging that the beef was his doing just to gain some clout.

Savage! Ethic ranks Octopizzo among top female hiphop artists in Kenya

Whatever the case may be and whomever you side with on the matter, the fact still remains that Octopizzo was blown out of the water by Khaligraph. Why you ask? Because at the height of his fame, he never got to the levels Khaligraph Jones is currently at.

khaligraph Jones
Kenya´s illest rapper, Khaligraph Jones

You see, when the beef started, Octopizzo was at critical mass, he was at the point where his ascendancy was just beginning. he came through with a slew of hits, even putting Vicmas Luodollar on the map with their collaboration but he got to a point where he couldn’t ascend any further.

Octopizzo should pull up his socks before it’s too late

Khaligraph Jones, on the other hand, has steadily been climbing to the pinnacle and even while he at the top of the totem pole at the moment he still seems to find new nooks and crannies to get himself into that make his star shine brighter.

Khaligraph Jones and Masauti defend artistes in 'Hao"

That is why when you look at the views of their music, when it comes to clout and fame across the border, Khaligraph Jones has it all. When it comes to the influence over the culture, especially in this space of influence over culture, Khaligraph is tops.

“I will rap about marijuana until it gets legalized!” Octopizzo declares

He has managed to get to a level where Octopizzo never did. And the thing is, they are both pretty similar. Both are from the same ethnic community, both are from similar, impoverished backgrounds and both have cultivated the personal of assholes.

khaligraph jones
Rapper, Khaligraph Jones

And make no mistake about it, this isn’t my way of saying that Octopizzo was never a superstar he was. To the point, he even got mzungu attention and got invited into their spaces and was made a Un Ambassador for something. But perhaps this is where he lost his edge. Inorder for Octopizzo, Namba Nanae’s Finest, to ascend into those spaces, he had to shed his uncultured behaviours and personas. that cost him with the average Kenyan music fan who themselves are uncultured in their tastes.

Khaligraph Jones addresses rumors linking him to using steroids to gain muscles

Khaligraph, on the other hand, came onto the scene with a fake accent. That was what everyone used to troll him but beyond that, he kept it uncultured. And when he explained the accent, Kenyans could understand why he had adopted it to begin with. To see whether it would open doors. And Kenyans could relate.

octopizzo
Kenyan hip-hop artist, Octopizzo

Also, while Octo shied away from doing heavy collaborations with fellow Kenyan acts, preferring instead to keep his music down to only having his voice and adlibs, Khaligraph Jones tactfully collaborated with people to the extent of having playful beefs with individuals.

“Chungeni sana ama niwafagilie nyinyi wote!” Khaligraph Jones warns Wasafi Records Mbosso and Lava Lava

And as a result, people gravitated more to Khaligraph. And that was how he won his beef. But whatever the case may be, can you imagine how heavy some collaborative work between the two would be?

Why a collaboration between Octopizzo and Khaligraph might be a big flop

It was just the other day when Khaligraph Jones called out on Octopizzo for a collabo in his new song “Yes Bana”.

In that song that he featured Sauti Sol’s Bien Baraza, the self declared OG asks Octo why they ain’t in talking terms.

He goes ahead and says,” Na mi sina beef na Ohanga (Spendii)
Ohanga hunitakii kwa nini? (Yes bana)
Mbona usifanye traki na mimi? (Yes bana)
Tutop hizi chart za mjini (Yes bana)
After that you will be happy amini (Yes bana)

Well, this is the thing these two chaps are incredible Kenyan rappers with two different styles of rap.

I mean we all know how Khali does his thing, fast-paced kind of rap, while Mr. Ohanga is much slower. But that is not the point.

Khaligraph

These lads have a diverse audience Khali does music that is more of the street than just any other artists.

Having created a basis on the African scene one can argue that the OG is actually the best right now. Especially after he declared himself the best rapper in Nigeria. The guts!!

Also read: Octopizzo Vs Khaligraph: Whose music approach is better?

On the other hand, Octopizzo has his style that cleary has that international market target feel. His music seems cannot be put off entirely ideally because he is a Kenyan artist.

Octopizzo

But again as they say home is best and I feel he should also try focus home kidogo.

Collaboration flop in the offing?

Now with all that perspective in one place, the duo can do good music, yes but it will not be well received by fans.

In fact, it will only elicit conversations among netizens then that’s it and we will all go back to hoping for better.

A collabo should be sweet and easy for fans to relate with. So for one, this will highly be a disappointment to fans especially if does not top charts as Khaligraph would hope for. However it’s a wait and see thing.

Octopizzo closes the year with new hit Kamikaze

Octopizzo is back with a new tune Kamikaze. The Kibera born star is closing the year with a super dope hit. This comes after his latest collaboration with Gengetone artistes Sailors Gang.

Octopizzo is known for his great work in art and even in Kamikaze, he has not fallen short. The song is lit and from the production, one can tell it is worth.

Kamikaze is a song in which Octopizzo praises himself and talks only about business. According to the star, he is in the game to win and earn.

Octopizzo closes the year with new hit Kamikaze

Octopizzo is all business in Kamikaze

To start with, in the chorus he talks on how he will accept cash deposits and cheques.

Although Kamikaze might appear like there is only one idea, the star goes ahead to talk about a girl whom he refers to as the baby.

Baby look look look, look at me I be ushered when you look at me What do you see? Pizzo the King.

Akili nywele we kipara Mheshimiwa hii idara Msupa cheza chini bana Hizo haga nazidara. My people, the rate at which Nambananne is getting to the gengetone vibe is alarming.

Octopizzo closes the year with new hit Kamikaze

Actually, in the line above, he introduces it so well and that is a very common saying. Things go south when he starts to mention asses and how he is going to caress them. I mean he is past this BS.

Namba nane kamikaze Hao wengine wajikaze Hii ni mboka niko kazi Cash check madeposits. Also, it is evident from this chorus that every man for himself. One needs to what they gonna eat.

Although some lines are not very interesting, Octopizzo has done a great job in his production work. I must say that it meets the international selection criteria.

Octopizzo is a lyrical master and Kamikaze confirms it all. In conclusion, he gets a rating of 6/10.

Wife material! Octopizzo’s new ‘feminine’ hairstyle leaves social media on fire

Rapper Octopizzo recently found himself trending for rather some awkward reason after stepping out in an expected hairdo.

The rapper appeared on 10-over-10 show with his new hairdo while speaking about the current state of music in Kenya and social media hated it.

Kenyans trolled the “Kanye” rapper calling his hairstyle feminine and all other kinds of names.

Other artists.

Octopizzo is not the first to be trolled for having rather unexpected hairdo.

Artists like Willy Paul, Mr Seed, Rayvanny, Diamond Platnumz have all faced the wrath of their fans after going for these screaming hairstyles.

Octoppizo calls out Nas following his ‘Living like third world brothers’ comment

Rapper Octopizzo has called out American rapper Nas following his recent comments that black Americans live like their brothers in third world countries.

Nas in post mourning rapper Nipsey Hussle who was shot six teams on Sunday, said that blacks in the US are fighting like they are in Africa.

We are at a great loss today. This hurts. Straight to the point. It’s dangerous to be an MC. Dangerous to be a b-ball player. It’s dangerous to have money. Dangerous To Be A Black Man. So much hatred. We live like our brothers and sisters in third world countries live. Right in America. Decisions we make about our own life be based on decisions cuz we might not live. It’s so deep rooted. It’s not a easy fix. Hard to fix anything when kids are still living in poverty. I ain’t shutting up though, Nipsey is a True voice. He will never be silenced. He still is A stand up General for the People who never left his people. He is loved by the people. Prayers for his family. Let’s keep pushing Truth for The Man. Love You King Nipsey Hussle/ Ermias Asghedom Respectfully, Nasir Jones,” wrote Nas.

Peaceful

Octopizzo didn’t like his comments and took to his comment section to blast the rapper assuring him that Africa is a peaceful comment unlike what they show on Western media.

“@nas This was a dope caption till you said “Brothers and Sisters in the third world” all we do here is spread love and try to come together to address social injustice and advocate for equality, you need to take a trip down to any country in Africa and see the difference, don’t believe on the “violence” and misrepresentation that western media give Africa, we have problems yes which are mostly orchestrated by greedy tribalistic politicians but we don’t have “black on black” gun violence. Its time all you guys come back home and invest in a Place of Love. RIP NIPSEY HUSSLE,” wrote Octopizzo.
