However this seems to have changed during his latest performance in LA; where he undeniably gave his Kenyan fans living in American a good time. Thanks to a video which Ghafla managed to get, we finally got a chance to see how things went down during his show.
Fan love
Despite him being a married man, it appears that female fans could not keep their hands off him! As seen on the video below one of his fans got up on stage and things got freaky between the two.
The lady is seen dancing on Nyashinski who was lying down on the stage before breaking off the dance! Judging from how the crowd was cheering there is no doubt that they enjoyed watching the two perform on stage.
Nyashinki and wife expecting first child?
Anyway this comes just a few weeks after the singer was said to be expecting his first child with his wife.
The two have been married for a few months now and judging from the ruracio photos; Nyashinski’s wife is seen hiding what appears to be a baby bump!
However, the couple has refused to address the rumors; but since it’s impossible to hide a baby bump or a baby… we shall give the two time and see whether they will announce the arrival of their baby!
Rumor has it that Nyashinski and his wife Zia Bett are expecting their first child in just a few weeks!
This comes barely a year after the two held their traditional wedding that saw only family and friends attend!
However, his wedding also came as a big surprise since he had earlier denied being involved with Zia Bett; only to later make her his wife and the mother of his future kids!
Nyashinski’s wife pregnant?
Anyway, we cannot confirm whether the pregnancy rumors are true or not; but looking at photos from their traditional wedding it’s easy to spot Zia trying to conceal her grown bump!
Responding to the story, Nyashinski did not also deny nor confirm the story as he wrote ‘Clown’ while reposting the story!
Singer Nyashinski has left very many ladies heartbroken after announcing that he will soon be a father!
Through his twitter handle the beloved and handsome Kenyan lover shared the good news; however not very many ladies could digest this since he has always been a dream fantasy for many Kenyan ladies.
After living in the United States for years, we can confirm that indeed Nyashinski is the real definition of a real African man. Well, this is because he came back and found himself a stunning Kenyan wife!
Baby on board
Having walked down the aisle a few months ago, seems that Nyashinski’s wife was already with child!
According to the Kenyan singer his baby will be arriving in a few weeks and judging from the tweet; Nyashinski can’t wait to be a daddy soon!
Popular mix master Michael Ndung’u, better known as DJ Fully Focus, has released a song with some of East Africa’s finest acts and it’s a big tune.
The song dubbed Rush features Nyashinski (Kenya), Vanessa Mdee (Tanzania), Fik Fameica (Uganda) and as such, it is not a surprise that it has been ruling the airwaves since it came out a few days ago.
After listening to this jam, perhaps you will agree with me that i’s such a beautiful composition. The artists who have been featured in it were well thought out since each of them brings something different to the table.
For instance, well all know that Nyashinski, whose real name is Nyamari Ongegu, has a good flow. He’s an artist who will leave you scratching your head because of his unique ability to play around with words.
On the other hand, Fik Fameica spices up this song because unlike Nyashinski and Vanessa Mdee, he is singing in his native language and maybe, just maybe he is the reason why this song is so infectious.
Vanessa Mdee has a beautiful voice, the kind that most people, including yours truly, would not mind listening to for a whole day and that’s not a secret.
The decision to include her in Rush was wise because she not only has a melodious voice but also because she brings some Bongo vibe in it.
Notably, the hook by Fully Focus was also impeccable. Believe you me, you will find yourself singing along to it after listening to this jam a couple of times.
I also loved the beat on this jam. It’s so catchy and I would not be surprised if I saw people dancing to it the next time I attend a party or go to a club.
Listen to Rush below and tell us what you think. Enjoy!
I’m not a fan of Bongo music. I only listen to Tanzanian songs when I have to, for instance when I am doing a review or when they are randomly played at a club, party or in a matatu.
On the flip side, I admire so many Tanzanian artists not for any other reason but because they really work their asses off. I could list them but their names would take up all this space. So, I’ll save you the agony.
Bongo music has always been big deal not only in Tanzania but across the continent and it’s bout time we – or rather our artists – borrowed a leaf from them.
They should ask themselves questions like,”What can we learn from Tanzanian musicians?”, “What areas should we work on?” and “What are they doing differently?”
One of the Bongo artists that I really admire, just like most of you is Diamond Platnumz. Despite being accomplished and all, he has never been content with his success. He keeps pushing each and every day.
Since the year begun he has released more than 30 songs, perhaps more, including collabos. As a result, he is always at the top of people’s minds.
It always seems like he is a pacesetter for the Tanzanian music industry since most people – including his stablemates – like Rayvanny, Lava Lava, Mbosso and Queen Darleen want to keep up with him.
The local music industry lacks a someone who keeps artists on their toes as is the case with Tanzania and this means that very few musicians, if any, give a hoot about consistency.
The truth is that people get bored very fast. I doubt if any of the people who are reading this article can have a jam in their playlists for more than a week and this means that artists need to release more music. There is no other way.
Many of you will be quick to point out that new age artists such as; Sailors Gang, Boondocks Gang, Ochunglo Family, 34 GVNG, Gwaash, etc. are constantly releasing music but let’s be honest, that is not serious music.
In as much as we find the songs by these youngins catchy, they rarely transcend our borders. It’s what it is. To add to that, the quality is always wanting.
I’m talking about the likes of Nyashinski, Nadia Mukami, Octopizzo, Khaligraph, King Kaka, Redsan, Nameless, Jua Cali, Avril etc. Will they ever wake up from their deep slumber? If so, when? Enough said.
The emergence of the new crop of Kenyan musicians has resulted into people comparing them with their older peers i.e. those who have been in the game for longer, say a decade or so.
While the new-age artists are spontaneous, the older folk are more ‘calculative’ which means that they think every move through carefully and perhaps this works to their detriment.
There is also the obvious fact that the younger folk are very ratchet going by the words that they use in their songs and their videos. On the other hand, old school artists are kind of reserved.
Most of the older folk are still using the Tanzanian approach of singing about dirty things i.e stuff is hidden and coming at a time when almost everyone is being raunchy, this doesn’t serve in their best interest or does it?
If you are keen, then I’m sure that you’ve noticed that the likes of Jua Cali, Redsan, Nameless, Wyre and Nonini don’t get much as they used to back it they day.
We have reached a point where they are almost unheard of and the truth is that this has a lot to do with the new crop of Kenyan artists because they are literally hogging the spotlight.
Unlike their older peers, they don’t wait for a song to ‘marinate’ before they drop another one, they are always on toes. This way, they are always on people’s lips.
At the end of the day, when all is said and done, if you are a big fan of Kenyan music like yours truly then you have to decide where your loyalty really lies.
Are you sticking with the old school music that is more reserved but enjoyable and you wouldn’t be shy to listen to in front of your parents.
Or are you an ardent fan of new-school music with all it raunchiness and you can live with the fact that you have to cover your face in shame when it comes on and an elder person is around.
Rapper Nyashinski is said to have wedded the love of his life this past weekend at a private wedding in Naivasha.
The news shared by a certain video blogger left many ladies disappointed as she announced Nyashinski’s wedding on her blog.
Well, it turns out that the story was actually fabricated! Nyashinski went on to deny the rumor through his Instagram page in a post where he sarcastically made fun of the wedding. He wrote saying;
Damn, missed my own wedding because of the trees.
Private life
Since returning from the United States where he had disappeared to after quitting band Kleptomaniax; Nyashinski has always maintained his private.
Very few people know details about his personal life and this is why we still can’t tell who he is dating and whether the baby mama rumors are also true.
Anyway, apart from this we can all agree that he is changing the Kenyan music industry thanks to his creativity and well composed music.
The popular ¨Free¨ hitmaker desired to be a doctor as a youngster but his teenage brain got a little preoccupied with music that saw him quit school for Kleptomaniax.
Nyashinski would scribble lyrics on little pieces of paper as well as listen to as much American music as possible, even dared to grow his hair.
The rapper´s ancestry all traces way back, one that saw him and friends, Munkiri and Collo, form Kleptomaniax group.
This came at a time when they world perform during Nairobi School hype and to him:
…especially so when the girls would scream out at us after performing for Insyder.
That was good enough. The passion was everything.
Way to fame
As a teenager, he did rub shoulders with the dad who would not approve his decision to drop school for some funny music:
Dad didn’t approve, thought it was a waste of time.
But over time, he has become a great fan of my work.
So much so that he brought me a musical instrument that I will soon learn to play. Watch this space.
Nyamari Ongegu got admitted to KU to study Environmental Planning and Management where he hoped to join UNEP.
He however dropped out in the 3rd year since Kleptomaniax had already risen to fame and was the talk of the town.
We had started getting paid some good money [KSh 30,000 a gig for the singing group of three] and I was ready to see where music would take me.
US relocation
Unfortunately, just as his teenage music career had become promising, the family had to relocate to USA, though still excited:
It was probably the best thing that could have happened to me.
Growing up with that attention from my music may have stunted me somewhat.
I was happy to leave Kenya.
I had started getting tired of keeping up with the momentum of releasing good music.
Plus the allure of the US we saw in movies was enticing.
For the Kenyan rapper, he loved the anonymity there, all excited about new discoveries.
However, his parents´ move was that their last kid actually resumes studies and take them seriously but 21 year old Nyashinski felt it was a waste of resources.
I didn’t want to waste my dad’s money on school fees and student loans because I knew that it wasn’t for me.
Now in America, I just wanted to look for work and start making money.
Career journey
He kick started his career by delivering slips from institutions to banks, and get paid $900 weekly which well, didn´t let him starve.
The Kenyan artist however sought to move his money-making ways to greater heights therefore had to undertake a truck-driving course.
This move saw him get into the trucking business that earned him more and with greater benefits, although his dad wasn´t convinced yet.
Just like any other hype that cools off once you´re in, the truck business wore him off and kept his parents worried for his safety.
While on the road, Nyamari would still compose lyrics in his head, lost in his thoughts because music was Bae.
Fortunate enough, he realized his long-lost dream someday when a friend invited him over informing him of a friend who owned a studio, he would check it out.
There was no pressure on me to record anything.
It was all in good fun, and that’s why I went.
Just for fun, he did his music until the day he did some songwriting and recording.
But then he played a beat… A few weeks later, he invited me back and I went, and we went to a different studio and I sat down, wrote some lyrics and recorded a song.
Comeback
Since then, he never looked back, spending close to 10 hours at a studio in Chicago, away from work.
It gave me morale, a zest for life.
Then I recorded a song, and sent it to Collo back in Kenya.
I asked him to release it. He did. On SoundCloud.
I don’t think it did very well but he started sending me beats and I would send him voice notes.
Then other singers started reaching out to me and I would help them with the writing too.
¨Letting Go¨ jam that featured Nyashinski and Nameless was in a bid to see the Kenyan rapper, return home and build his music career.
I didn’t like how I looked in the video.
I was a tad bit overweight, and so I decided to shape up.
And the idea to come back to Kenya was gaining traction so I changed my diet and worked out
The two linked up in the US.
I thought about coming back home real hard.
I knew that music was my talent and at the end of the day, I would have to answer to God if I didn’t use it.
So again, I went back to my parents and told them that it was time I went home.
They wanted to know if I knew what I was doing. I wanted their blessings.
Blessings he did receive but his pockets did not allow therefore moved into Nairobi West in 2016, aged 31.
That is when the popular rapper made his music comeback in the Kenyan industry, producing hit after another.
Mungu Pekee, Hayawani, Malaika and Free are just but a few of his music collection since 2016 with Marathon Runner being the new jam in the market.
He however adds that his spiritual life plays the center role in his journey and career.
Popular Kenyan rapper, Nyashinski lives a private life away from the world of music and being an introvert might have also affected his openness with the opposite sex.
The ¨Now You Know¨ singer disclosed:
I am a very introverted person.
The person I am on stage is not the person I am off stage.
He depicts that there are actually two sides of him, on 2 different platforms but luckily fame found it´s way in his direction:
Some people were born for fame, I wasn´t.
Mine just found me.
However, fame too carries along it´s drawbacks:
Sometimes I just want to go somewhere and just be, but I can´t.
And some people can misinterpret that; think I am a snob.
Love life
Speaking about his life away from music, rather a family setting of his own, Nyamari Ongegu shares:
You know these guys who will have a girl laughing out loud in 2 seconds?
Well, I am not that guy.
I don´t have much game.
Unfortunately, he might find his way around the mic pretty easy but when it comes to the ladies, his tune is off beat.
It takes a while for a girl to realise I have a great personality.
Also, attracting a genuine girl is a little tough for me, and when I do, they tend to think I have a harem of girls thanks to what I do.
However, all hope is not lost for the former Kleptomaniax artist as he still aspires to build a home of his own:
So now I give it time, if it works it does, if not, too bad.
And don´t ask me if I am dating anyone now because I won´t answer that.
Let´s keep the Nyashinski mystery on.
But someday, I will want a wedding and a bunch of kids.
The Kenyan artist affirms that his personal life remains low-key.
Nyashinski, whose real name is Nyamare Ongegu is a Kenyan talented rapper. He pursed his degree in Environmental planning management, but he clearly stated in his interview with Daily Nation that he has never applied it directly. Nyashinski pursed his high school level of education at the Nairobi School, where he met his former music group members, Kleptomaniax. He has always kept his social life from social media. He is said to be dating a lady from Daystar University by the name Zia Jepkemei Bett.
One of the groups hit song was Tuendelee, released in 2004 as a diss song. The group disbanded in 2007 each one of the members embarking on solo projects.

Nyashinski is and will always be my favourite artist. His prowess in rap music is something that Kenyan artists should watch. His song Hayawani is my favourite. It was so creative of him and to talk of how human beings have turned cold on their fellow human beings. Also the video to the song was so creative.
Watch Hayawani video.
Also, Nyashinski has also done well on the song KEBS. His creativity is evident in this video. Artwork at its best.
For those who were born in early 2000s, Nyashinski and fellow rappers Collo and Roba were one time the most sought-after hip hop group in Kenya.
The trio, who were known by their stage name ‘Kleptomaniax’, ruled the airwaves with hits such as ‘Haree’, ‘Swing Swing’, ‘Tuendelee’ among other songs.
Kleptomaniax split and Nyashinski relocated to the US while Collo pushed on solo. Collo got saved in 2016 and starting dropping gospel songs.
Reunion
Nyashinski spoke on a possible reunion with former colleagues Collo and Roba during an interview with Mzazi Willy M Tuva on Mseto East Africa.
The rapper said that Kleptomaniax could be revived since they were still friends. He further revealed that the defunct hip hop group had already recorded songs together which are yet to be released.
“Tunaweza fanya song kwa sababu bado sisi ni marafiki, hio si issue at all. Tumerecord, tuko na kazi Lakini hatujafika point tunafeel hii project tumefanya ni worth sisi kurelease, bado ni process. Personally sipendi kutoa tu song kwa sababu nimeirecord lazima nifike standard ile nafeel nimefanya my best,” said Nyashinski.
Nyashinski launched completely unprovoked attack on Mseto East Africa host Mzazi Willy M Tuva on Friday January 4th 2019.
The rapper threw shade at Mzazi following his interview with Taita Taveta governor Granton Samboja. Mzazi shared part of the interview with Samboja on Instagram, what irked Nyashinski is that Mzazi didn’t share the part where the governor mentioned his favorite Kenyan musicians.
Nyashinski went on to accuse Mzazi of favoring foreign artistes over Kenyan artistes, this because in the IG clip Samboja mentions that ‘Kwangwaru’ is his favorite song.
“@mzaziwillytuva mbona hiyo video inaishia hapo? Hakuwa anajua msanii wa Kenya hata mmoja? ? kuna utiaji flani hapa. Bado home ni Kenya ?? boss. Utarudi tu. Shout out to @thenaiboi @sautisol @khaligraph_jones @thekingkaka @octopizzo @otilebrown and all other Kenyan artists who made major moves in 2018. The fans see y’all working. #love ??,” Nyashinski protested.

Mzazi responds
The Citizen Radio presenter rubbished Nyashinski’s claims that he favors foreign artistes and doesn’t promote local talent. Mzazi listed a number of popular Kenyan musicians that he helped nurture their talent.
Below is Mzazi’s response to Nyashinski;
Kaka @realshinski kwanza Happy New Year, secondly nadhani hujaelewa kitu kwa hii clip. Umesikia vizuri swali langu mara mbili nimemuulizaje Governor ? Msanii gani wa Kenya anamkubali. I can’t choose for him what to like but I pushed him to tell me his favorite Kenyan artistes. This was an Instagram post to lead people to the link on YouTube for the full interview and to know which Kenyan artiste the Governor likes. He mentioned several Kenyan artistes and for you to find out who ingia kwa YouTube ya @msetoeastafrica ukacheki. Another thing Mseto is an East African show that plays more Kenyan but seeks to unite East Africa by including songs from the other countries. Do you know that we introduce at least two Kenyan Upcoming artistes everyday ? Do you know that we tour the whole country in search of talent that we support ? Even on this day I interviewed the Taita Taveta Governor, HE Granton Samboja , I had gone to his County in search of talent. For your information all those artistes you have mentioned above know the role I have played in their music. Ask @thenaiboi how I helped him as a brother into the industry. I will share a post on that. Ask @octopizzo whom I have worked with to nurture talent in Kakuma. Ask @khaligraph_jones whom I have featured many times including @sautisol and @otilebrown. I went all the way to Samburu and discovered @dufladiligon whom I brought in to the industry. Ni mimi ndio nimemlea Dufla na wengine wengi kimuziki na bado 2019 natambulisha more new stars. My brother @realshinski you are always on Mseto both on Radio and TV. Mseto nurtures talent and seeks to unite East Africa through music. Ninachokifanya mafans wa Mseto wanajua. Tafadhali tuache kulalamika na tuungane kuujenga muziki wa Kenya na kuiunganisha Afrika Mashariki kimuziki.

Rapper Nyashinski has launched unprovoked attack on gospel singer Willy Paul who is still enjoying quality time in United States of America.
The whole drama started when Willy Paul took to social media and shared a photo he posed with Batman’s lookalike in New York City.
“Are you ready for a new one tonight?? If I get just 500+ comments, I will unlish it in afew minutes… type YES,” Willy Paul captioned the photo.
Mockery
Nyashinski took to Instagram to mock Willy Paul for claiming that he would release a new song if he gets over 500 comments on his post (the one he posed with Batman lookalike).
“My reaction when ‘artists’ be like, “If I get 500 comments, I’ll release my next video.” ??♂️?,” wrote Nyashinski.
Willy Paul has been named the highest earning solo musician in the Kenya by Music Publishers Associations of Kenya (MPAKE).
MPAKE’s 2017 royalty distribution between November 1 and December 31 last year shows that Willy Paul had the highest earning with Kes 11,685.39.
The total collections realised in that period was Kes 4,677,130.76, 70% of the revenue collected is distributed to musicians while 30% is committed to administration expenses.
Nyashinski comes second
Rapper Nyashinski was ranked second in MPAKE’S royalty earning for the same period – November 1 and December 31 2017. He received Kes 11,482.52
The royalty distribution is with respect to collections realised through joint collection with Kamp and Prisk.
Nyashinski has a celebrity admirer, rapper Kush Tracey has had a thing for Nyashinski since she was only a student in high school.
Remember the defunct Kleptomaniax? The group which comprised of Roba, Collo and Nyashinski was the most sought-after music group in Kenya back then 2003.
Kleptomaniax ruled the airwaves with hits like ‘Swing Swing’, ‘Haree’, ‘Tuendelee’ among other songs. The trio went their separate ways and Nyanshinki relocated to US for a decade before coming back.
Kush Tracey developed a serious crush for Nyashinski while he was still a member of Kleptomaniax. Tracey was a student in high school back then.
Yearns to work with him
Kush Tracey expressed her desire to work with Nyashinski during an interview with Tuko. She revealed that she has only met the ‘Now You Know’ hit maker once.
“Nyashinski has been my MCM since the times of Tuendelee ama Tusiendelee. I think I had a crush on him since then. I only met him once and I saw him from a distance. Definitely i would want to work with him, he is full of energy, positive vibes. His kind of thing is just on a whole different level,” said Kush Tracey.
Nyashinski isn’t sparing anyone in a new controversial song ‘KEBS’. The singer addresses everything that has been said about him.
A while back, it was revealed that Nyashinski was rouged up by a guy who found him in bed with his woman in Nyayo Estate Embakasi.
The rapper addresses the incident in his new song. He calls out people who are concerned about who he sleeps with;
“For 10 years hamkuwa mnajali mahali nalala, hii screw driver yangu ni shimo gani inascrew. Mtu mahali ameamua hatalala salama kabla ahakikishe ameambia watu Nyash anajiduu,” Nyashinski raps.
1 million for an interview
Nyashinski also addresses claims that he requested Kes 1 million to be interviewed at NTV at a time when he had only released three songs.
“You can’t believe all this bullshit you’re reading, you can’t be really considering singing, a big fat cheque for Nyashinski though, ata kaa ‘Mungu Pekee’ haikuwa na video, ana ngoma tatu pekee tumwitie nini show. Naskia kwenda mainterview anaitisha millioni,”.
Nyashinski and bae are still together contrary to rumors that were going round on social media. The singer’s girlfriend Zia Jepkemei Bett dismissed the rumor on Wednesday June 27th.
A while back, Nyashinski set tongues wagging when he publicly declared that he was single during an interview with a local radio station.
His revelation gave room for people to speculate that his relationship with Zia had hit rock bottom. But now it seems Nyashinski was only bluffing.
Never been happier
On Wednesday June 27th, Zia dismissed the breakup rumor when she shared a photo of Nyashinski and her then captioned it ‘Never been happier’.
Award Winning Hip Hop Star Rick Ross will be performing in Kenya this Saturday April 28th courtesy of Kenya’s Newest Radio Station NRG RADIO.
The American rapper will be performing alongside Kenyan Top Acts Khaligraph Jones, and Nyashinski as confirmed by NRG Radio. This will be Rick Ross first tour in East Africa, despite collaborating with Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz for his hit song “Waka Waka”.
NRG Radio has been setting the pace in the entertainment industry with its state of the art studios providing a fused radio, digital and social experience that fuels #NRG.
#NRGWave Nairobi Edition promises to be an unforgettable experience with Rick Ross taking center stage this Saturday April 28th at the Carnivore.
Meanwhile NRG Radio have partnered with A1 Entertainment on setting up the event. A1 Entertainment is a new entertainment and events company that is setting the bar and redefining Kenyan showbiz on another level. In celebrating their one month anniversary in the game, NRG partnered with A1 in bringing Rick Ross this Saturday at Carnivore grounds. A1 are providing NRG with the cars and chopper to be used in preparation for the big concert.
In barely over a month, A1 has shown Nairobi, no expense will be spared for quality and control. Fact File Rick Ross
William Leonard Roberts II (conceived January 28, 1976), known professionally by his stage name Rick Ross, is an American rapper and business visionary.
In 2009, Ross established the record name Maybach Music Group, on which he discharged his studio collections Deeper than Rap (2009), Teflon Don (2010), God Forgives, I Don’t (2012), Mastermind, Hood Billionaire (2014), Black Market (2015), and Rather You Than Me (2017). Ross was likewise the primary craftsman marked to Diddy’s administration organization Ciroc Entertainment. In mid-2012, MTV named Ross as the Hottest MC in the Game.
Though he’s not really a guy who shows off, Singer Nyashinski is one brother who has it and maybe once in a while reminds people that he can floss.
The singer was recently on social media to flaunt a pair of sneakers worth a cool $325 (Sh32,500), a figure that left many social media users impressed. The shoe, which is called Silio canvas low-top is a very simple shoe that matches with his simple dress code. Unlike many other artists, Nyash goes for a simple dress code hence the Silio canvas shoes make sense.
Nyanshinski has offered explanation to viral tweet belittling Diamond Platnumz. The Kenyan hip hop star declared that he was not behind the tweet.
A tweet from Twitter account @OfficialShinki caught the attention of tweeps. The tweet which was thought to be from Nyashinski disparages Diamond Platnumz.
“Soon Diamond Platnumz will learn to make hits, but not from outside Africa. He should know!” The tweet read.
I respect Diamond
Tweeps were couldn’t understand why Nyashinski all over sudden decided to diss Diamond. The Tanzanian crooner was among East African artists who threw their weight behind Nyashinski when he was nominated for MTV EMA awards 2017.
Nyashinski responded quickly to dismiss the viral tweet. The ‘Now You Know’ hit maker confirms that the twitter account purporting to be his is a parody account.
“I have nothing but RESPECT for @diamondplatnumz and his team and everything they have done for East African music. I am NOT associated with the account in this tweet. My official twitter account is @RealShinski. East Africans we should unite and push our music forward instead of focusing on distractions like these. Build, don’t destroy. •
Peace and love. ✌??” Nyashinski clarified.
Nyashinski first collaboration when he returned to Kenya was with Nameless. Apparently Nyashinski and Nameless’ friendships goes back a long way.
Nyashinski teamed up with his longtime friend Nameless to drop ‘Letigo’ as he made a musical comeback after a long hiatus.
The rapper stayed in America for close to a decade where his whereabouts were not known. Nyashinski moved to US after the split of Kleptomaniax.
Lessons from uncle Monski
Nyashinki says Nameless thought him several life lessons. The most important thing he learnt from Nameless was money, time and energy.
“@namelesskenya taught me the concept of money, time and energy. When you’re a child you have a lot of time and energy, no money. When you get a bit older, you have money and a little bit of energy, but no time because you’re working so hard. When you’re very old, you have all the time and some money, but no energy. May you have money, time and energy in abundance, at the same time,” Nyashinki shared a lesson he learnt from Nameless.
Sauti Sol are currently the undisputed kings of Kenyan music judging from their success. Most people agree Nyashinki comes second after the quartet.
Nyashinski and Sauti Sol are the only musicians from Kenya to who have been nominated for internationally recognized awards in recent years.
Sauti Sol boasts of winning MTV Europe Music Award – Best African Act. Nyashinski was nominated for the same award in 2017.
The rapper reinvented himself when he returned to Kenya after a long stay in US. Nyashinki came back and dominated the airwaves with hits like ‘Letigo’, ‘Now You Know’, ‘Mungu Pekee’ among others.
What did he do differently?
Nyashinski opened up about the things that propelled him to great success during an interview with myNetwork. The rapper was asked to share tips for success and below is what he stated:
1.Study the African music landscape.
2. Ask yourself what successful African artistes are doing that is different from everyone else.
3. Go to concerts or watch concerts online – try and figure out why some of these events have a bigger attendance than others.
4. Be keen on the reaction of fans and what the high and low moments are.
5. Most importantly, be yourself and write from the heart. Also, if you can’t write, don’t hesitate to look for someone to whom you can open up, and who can deliver the same in the form of a song.
Rapper cum singer Nyashinski has lately been making headlines in the country. Most of the time it’s about his good music and other times…well just a lot of controversial stories.
A few weeks ago the Nyashinski was rumored to be the artist who demanded for Ksh 1 million to appear on an interview. The story shared on a popular news outlet left many questioning how the artist would pull such a stunt especially after he had received so much support from the media.
He however maintained his silence until just recently when he opened up about the story. Speaking exclusively to popular news outlet Nyashinski denied the story saying;
“Its not true, going for interviews helps my brand and my music, i can’t shoot myself on the leg, it doesn’t make sense, someone was given the wrong information. I’ve never asked for even a shilling. I’ve never asked for money to do interviews, those are just stories,”
Nyashinski’s attitude
So is someone trying to ruin Nyashinski’s image? Well…we can’t be too sure but in the past we have seen fans complain about his ‘superstar’ attitude.
Kenyans on Twitter have come out to share their opinion on an article claiming Nyanshinski demanded money for an interview. The article published on a popular local News paper did not give the name of the rapper. However, from how the article was written, Kenyans concluded it was Nyashinski.
From the comments seems that most people claim Nyashinski has a big ego which should be trimmed. This comes after it was revealed that he does not follow anyone on his Instagram page. His die hard fans however concluded that the story had been fabricated to tarnish his image.
Nyashinski’s progress in music
As for now, we are not quite sure whether this is true or not. But since returning back to Kenya the singer has released at least 3 songs that have seen raise to the top of the charts.
