“Wakavinye was my sponsor back then” Njugush reveals

Comedian Njugush has always been open about his humble background. Back in the day before the money and fame; he was just an ordinary man facing the usual struggles faced by many!

He says that his wife was his only hope of surviving back in college as she helped him with money whenever he had nothing to use. Speaking to Dr Kingori on the Weekend edition; Njugush opened up revealing why he allows his wife to handle money matters unlike other men. He went on to say;

Njugush with his wife and Dr Kingori

When it comes to money, I’m so lucky to have broken that ice, cz most of the time when you work together or differently mnaandikiananga nani anapaswa kununua kiti ama kuleta chakula ya kuku. But in this case how it all started, yeye ndio alikua sponso, yeye ndio alikua ananisort akiwa first year. Somehiow mimi sikuwa na kakitu because in college kuna ile pesa nilikua napatiwa na ikipita hapo siezi zidisha, so siezi itisha doo

The comedian went on to add that money has never been an issue in his home because he trusts his wife. He went on to add;

Wild guesses as fans speculate Njugush and wife, Celestine are expecting baby number 2

When I started making few coins yeye hakua anamake as much, however it was not hard for me, actually yeye ndio alikua incharge of my ATM, yeye ndio alikua anaoperate doo from hiyo time

The couple went on to add that they have learnt to combine their finances since they are married and share one vision.

This helps them save enough for the future and at the same time accomplish certain goals.

Challenges in marriage

Just like any other couple, Njugush and Wakavinye also happens to go throw ups and downs like most couples.

Wakavinye went to talk about this saying;

when you are married and umetulia, and you know a hundred percent ni huyu nikona yeye nataka kupata mtoi nayeye na umeoa theres no going back. If you truly love that person, you have differences even major ones but at the end of the day you’ll have a way to work around them.

Dating days

Well, he started somewhere and that we have to acknowledge. The father of one narrates his dating experience with wife, Celestine Ndinda, days when money was pretty scarce.

The two started their bond while still in campus. They went on a couple of dates but it got to a point, Njugush ran nil and could not afford to take one Celestine out.

2014….. it was my first time kupeleka huyu mrembo Celestine Ndinda date akasema ameshiba….all other dates, mostly zilikua Pale Uhuru Park, alikua anadai haskii njaa…..lol she was just being diplomatic anadanganya because tukirudi shule alikua anabomoa ugali.

City life

But things changed:

Now when we came here in 2014, I was hoping ile 500 nilikua nayo ingetosha..well I was in for a surprise. When for the 1st time aliona I took her to a date somewhere with walls [open air dates were the thing…well cause of how our pockets were setup…] CBD akajua kajamaa kana pesa – we have been paid 1k for a set book show nilikua nimechapa. So nikalipa deni ya 500 I had ..then the rest nikaamua nichafue mrembo.

Unfortunately, the biggest mistake Njugush made, was when his inner being told him to ask Celestine to have what she wants. And these were the repercussions:

Now there’s a dish known as arosto… I think ni mbuzi mtoto…meat so soft…I always keep ondering if it would be appropriate to say you are kidding ukikula…lol bad joke I know. Wue ilikua 650 sinia moja…150 more than I had…sema kusweat…mrembo was so happy lakini chini ya maji I was nervous… well luckily I had a friend…and what are friends for??? especially when date iko karibu kugonga ukuta… ( I thought tungeenda tu hizo open air dates haingegonga ukuta, get it?) Well my friend Gerald would send me Kshs 500…big mistake. Hapa nilijua huyu mrembo nitamtorture na fod design she would never forget…I asked for juice in a big glass…and not any other juice, mango juice. Okay every weekend angesema turudi hapa lakini sababu Gerald hangenikopesha, inabidi I devise maugonjwa…”babe naskia kichwa funny” ooh “babe nikama niko na malaria”. We still come here since and today we had a third wheeler. Well I’m now getting used to half half kisses juu mtoto ataamka ooh babe kidogo nimfunike ooh babe shhhhh.
