Kenyan singer and entrepreneur Esther Akoth, known as Akothee, has addressed her ongoing breakups with her partner Nelly Oaks. In a statement on Sunday, she emphasized that she has never wronged Nelly, who is also her manager, during their nearly ten-year relationship.
Akothee clarified that, contrary to public perception, it is Nelly who has consistently initiated their conflicts and separations over the years. She stated, “No woman will leave a good relationship. Many people think I’m the one who picks him up and drops him, but let me start the year with the truth. He is the one who has always started our fights and breakups,” in an Instagram post.

She further explained her approach to their disputes: “As a woman, when I reach my limit, I choose to walk away and live my life because I have a life outside of our relationship. We go our separate ways but still share a strong bond.”
Akothee described the cycle of their breakups, saying, “Each time we break up, I block him and delete his number, but when we cross paths again, we pick up where we left off. Don’t get it twisted: I am a faithful, genuine, and loving partner.”
At 43, she reaffirmed that she only maintains one relationship at a time and stressed that both partners must put in effort to make a relationship work. “I love him with all my loyalty. I am a woman who dates one man at a time,” she asserted.
