Legendary Kenyan musician Nazizi Hirji has shared a poignant experience that has recurred since the passing of her son, Jazeel Adam, last year.
Expressing her deep grief, Nazizi revealed that a specific butterfly has been visiting her whenever she feels overwhelmed by sorrow. She perceives this as more than just a coincidence, believing it reflects a supernatural connection.

Nazizi reflected on the timing of these visitations, noting that the butterfly appears around 2 a.m., the hour when her son would usually wake up. She observed that the butterfly is always the same color and size.
“Guess who came last night… it’s always this particular butterfly. Every time the pain is unbearable, I’m visited by this exact color and size of butterfly, always around 2 a.m. when my baby would wake up,” Nazizi shared in an Instagram post on September 27, 2024.
Jazeel passed away at a hotel in Tanzania where the family was staying, and he was laid to rest in Nairobi on December 27, in accordance with Muslim traditions.

“The loss of Jazeel is a heart-wrenching tragedy for our family. He was a bright light extinguished too soon,” the family stated in an announcement following his death.
“In these difficult times, we ask for understanding and compassion as we navigate through the pain of losing our beloved Jazeel. The support and empathy from our friends, fans, and the public mean the world to us during this challenging period,” they added.
To honor her son’s memory, Nazizi held a memorial service on February 4, 2024, marking 40 days since his untimely passing. This solemn event allowed her and her loved ones to reflect on the cherished moments they shared with Jazeel.
The rapper shared a video clip featuring Jazeel’s modeling work for a local clothing brand, celebrating his vibrant spirit and the love they had for each other. “40 days since you left Mama @jazeeladam,” Nazizi wrote.
