Kenyan musicians David Mathenge, better known by his stage name Nameless, and Rosemary Wahu Kagwi celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary on Saturday, September 10, 2023.
The couple took to social media to reflect on their journey together, which has been full of ups and downs.
“Today we celebrate 18 years of marriage, marriage yetu imekuwa adult buana!! We can’t help but reflect with Gratitude on a journey of incredible highs and lows, memorable joys, and unfortunate pains that we have shared,” Nameless wrote on Instagram. “We have fought and made up; we’ve had misunderstandings but always strived to understand each other over the years. But what’s for sure, we are better individuals and partners because of this union.”
Wahu and Nameless first met when they were students at the University of Nairobi, where Wahu pursued a course in Mathematics and Nameless studied Architecture. They started dating in their early 20s and have been together ever since.
“We are best friends. We have been through a lot together because we met in our early 20s,” Nameless said in a previous interview. “Having walked this journey together, we have a deeper understanding of each other.”
The couple is now parents to three daughters. They are considered one of Kenya’s power couples and are known for their love of music.
“Congratulations to Nameless and Wahu on their 18th wedding anniversary,” said Kenyan musician Eric Wainaina. “They are an inspiration to us all.”
The couple’s anniversary was celebrated by their fans and friends on social media. Many people wished them a happy anniversary and praised their love and commitment to each other.
“You are an inspiration to us all,” said one fan. “Thank you for showing us what true love is.”
“Congratulations to you both,” said another fan. “May your love continue to grow stronger with each passing year.”
Nameless and Wahu are an example of a couple who has overcome challenges and come out stronger. They are a testament to the power of love and commitment.
Nameless has been having it abit rough from fans who dont seem to understand that times have changed. You see, back in the day having daughters was something many didnt appreciate; this is because they’d assume girls are only dowry and after marriage theyd then carry their husbands name and start a family of their own.
Sons on the other hand get to carry their fathers legacy and get to grow his family…which is why they were considered a favorite. Well, surprisingly looks like these old teachings remain in a few of us, and i say this after coming across a comment left by of Nameless’ fans urging him to get a son.
Well, barely a week afyer his 3rd born daughter was born, a fan identified as Dalphine Memba wrote to Nameless telling him;
Tafuta Kijana boss…your legacy. We Africans.
Nameless’ priceless response
Okay, I really don’t know what was going on in Dalphine Memba’s head when she posted the comment; but truth is – thanks to her, those with the same behavior have learnt what happens when you let your loose fingers do the talking.
Responding to this particular fan, Nameless through his Facebook wrote back saying;
Dalphine Memba actually I really want my legacy to be a father of three beautiful gals filled with wisdom, humility and compassion. Who will live a responsible life that creates peace and joy for them and for others around them. For them, that is the vision I am working towards.
He went on to address others with similar thoughts on him and his family – and after years of maintaining his silence on this “tafuta kijana” issue…Nameless now says its time we all evolved.
Comedian Terence Creative has expressed disappointment in how singer Nameless rushed to unveil his day old daughter’s face on social media. To him, this was not well planned nor well executed especially with how fans were excited to see his 3rd born – a baby conceived in their (Wahu and Nameless) early 40’s.
Well as we already know the power couple welcomed their 3rd baby just a few days ago and having taken about 9 years before adding another baby; believe me the Mathenges couldnt hold back from expressing their excitement amd fear since they’d been out of the game for a while.
Anyway unlike our favorite celebrities who hide their baby’s faces for a couple of months, the Mathenges unveiled it in just hours. Which is why Terence feels they wasted a good opportunity to exploit their daughter’s birth by creating content from it. He revealed this on a post shared on Facebook where he wrote;
Due to public demand, I will be impregnating my wife next week
Adding;
Nameless sitawaste episodes kama wewe.Hii ingekuwa content creator wa kawaida kama mimi ingetoa episodes kadhaa
How Terence wpuld have done it
Well being a content creator – Terence Creative still couldnt believe how Nameless missed out on the best opportunity to make YT views.
So, explaining how he would have done it – Terence wrote;
1. Babyface reveal 2. gender reveal episode 3. Delivery episode 4. First time breastfeeding 5. Leaving hospital episode 6. Baby meeting her siblings at home 7. First night at home with baby 8. Guess baby name episode 9. baby name episode 10. First immunization episode 11. Mum recovery- postnatal experience 12. Baby meeting grandparents for the first time after hospital.”
Despite expressing his regrets, he however congratulated Wahu and Nameless saying;
Yaani hizi episodes zote zimeenda hivyo anyway congratulations.
Legendary musicians Wahu Kagwi and her heartthrob hubby Nameless have welcomed their bundle of joy: and the two sweethearts have shared their happiness with fans.
Taking to their social media, they introduced their newly born daughter, sharing her photo for the first time:
They wrote:
”This is 5 mins after she was born…. My first early connection with my third born daughter, Shiru, named after my eldest sister @rosemarymutunkei according to Kikuyu tradition. We’ll also give her an African name soon. Thank you for your prayers and well wishes. Shiru is healthy, beautiful and very alert. And @wahukagwi, Mama Shiru did a splendid job at bringing her into this world. Mum is fine and excited to start this journey together. “
Together, the two lovebirds already have 2 daughters, whom they sired during their early days of marriage.
nameless and Wahu have been married for almost 17 years now and their first born daughter, Tumi just turned 16 years the other day meaning…the happy couple didnt waste time in starting a family of their own.
Well, as you already know the two have maintained a clean profile in the media industry for years; and unlike the new age celebrities who prefer entertaining fans with their family issues – Nameless and Wahu have never found themselves in that position.

Away from that, we understand couple is currently expecting their 3rd baby 9 years since they had their second born daughter, Nyakio. Speaking during a recent Facebook live with his Wahu, Nameless revealed although he is jetting back home from his successful US tour, he will not be joining his wife in the delivery room.
According to him, he has done almaot everything to support his wife during the pregnancy journey – but the only thing he wont do is walk into the labor room with her.
I have added some weight and I will go down with you in everything. In labor is where I will not go with you since you like pulling my hair. Second pregnancy, I made sure I was at safe distance.
Wahu explains situation
While Nameless claims his wife pulled his hair back when they were having Tumiso, his wife on the other hand says this was a reflex move from all the pain she was experiencing while her husband was busy on phone.
I am in labor and you are on phone. Do you remember? how does that even happen?
Wahu went on to add that if roles were switched- she’s sure most men woukdnt handle the birthing process; giving an example of her husband Nameless who gets flu and acts like he got hit by a serious illness.
I think most men can’t handle labor if roles can be changed. The number of times I get sick and nobody knows are countless yet on the other side, when Nameless gets the flu, everyone has to know about it.
The much anticipated collaboration between Nameless and his wife Wahu was finally released a month ago. The two lovebirds have been in the music industry for a very long time; but had not done a collabo together. Just like Nyashinski, the two announced their comeback into music with their separate songs dubbed ‘This Love ya Nameless’ and ‘This Love ya Wahu’. The songs have gathered 695K views and 1Million views on YouTube respectively.
The MZ Back In The Game!
Apart from that, their first collabo song is dubbed ”Te-amo”. Their fans all over were excited to hear the legendary voices; and they gave thanks by watching it over 1 Million times on YouTube.
Jubilant Nameless took to social media to appreciate the support, and praised his song writer.
”As we celebrate Te Amo 1million views on YouTube ????????????????????????. Nameless and Wahu are one of the most sought after celebrity couple. The sweethearts met long ago while still in campus. Their love for music brought them together at a concert; Nameless made his move. They celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary in a private ceremony recently. They have two daughters together and they have defied the meaning of ageing.
Wahu celebrated her 41st Birthday days ago and her hubby couldn’t keep calm about it. Nameless has shared a rare throwback video of the two bonding while they were still young. He captioned the video;

The two sweethearts have professional jobs but their love for music is still undetachable. They recently had separate songs with the same name ‘This Love’. However, they are yet to do a collabo but they recently hinted at doing one. We can’t wait to see how this will unfold. Check out their video;
One of the most sought after couples in the country, Wahu and Nameless, are still holding on to their over-a-decade long marriage. The two sweethearts met in 1998 at a campus event at Grand Regency. They were then introduced by a mutual friend called Neto.
They both have two girls together, and Wahu doesn’t seem ready to have another kid. The singer has shared a photo of her and Nameless when they were still young. This was in 2006 when they had their first born girl, by the name Tumiso Mathenge.
”Issa tbt!!! 2006 right after giving birth to @tumi.mathenge.”
Don’t they just look stunning! They got married in 2005 and later on got Tumiso.
The two lovebirds however revealed that their marriage has not been a bed of roses. They have had their challenges. At one time, Nameless left his matrimonial home to ‘take a break’ from Wahu.
While the two are proud of their achievements in their music and professional careers, what they are most proud of is being parents.
They advise young couples to manage their expectations, learn to listen to each other, give space for individuality in their unions, respect and understand each other’s points of view. They also advocate for marriage counseling because it helps put things in perspective especially in the early years.
Over the past few years, we’ve heard little about Singer Nameless, whose real name David Mathenge, and his beautiful wife Wahu Kagwi. However, it seems like the two lovebirds are re-igniting their musical passion. Recently, they separately released a song named ‘This Love’. The song saw Bien of Sauti Sol and Nameless exchange their lovers.
Nameless and his wife have been married for over 15 years. However, their marriage doesn’t seem to be ‘perfect’. Nameless posted a stunning photo of lover Wahu as his WCW and wrote,
” #ThisLoveYaNameless #kituSafi#WCW….lakini saa zingine hard-Headed Kama coconut.”
Nameless and Wahu are among the most respected couple in the country. They have been able to hold on to their marriage for long. Nameless is regarded as one of the modern music pioneers in Kenya alongside his wife Wahu Kagwi.
Additionally, they are also among the most educated celebrities in the country.
Nameless is a University of Nairobi graduate and pursued a degree in architecture. Before getting his stage name, he says that he got different nicknames, including ‘The Mechanic’.
Nameless says that he is able to balance between being an architect and a musician. His wife Wahu is a business woman. She has a degree in Mathematics and a master’s degree in communication.
The two are a true definition of couple goals. Their love is truly something to emulate.
Singer Nameless at one point used to get sleepless nights thinking about what people are saying on social media.
According to the singer, people can break your heart online and need a tough skin to get by. Nameless had to find away to block the negativity.
“There are people on social media who will go out of their way to hurt you. I used to get so affected by hurtful comments because as an artist you get so attached to your work. Sometimes you release something you’ve worked so hard on and there are many positive comments and then one negative comment and you’ll spend time thinking about the negative one,” he said.
Warned
Nameless added that his mother had warned him at the beginning of his career that not everyone will love his work.
“When I started out my mother told me some people will like what I do, some won’t and that’s fine. I always try to remember that. I admire people who don’t get affected by the negative comments. That’s what I’m working towards.” he said.
Your favorite Kenyan artist, Nameless is a star in the lucrative music industry that sees many tip off just shortly after they step in.
However, Music star, Nameless, has defied the odds and remains relevant to date, a whooping 20 years down the road.
Nameless takes us down memory lane of what his teenage life was like, a stage that has made him who he is today.
Both exciting, scaring but he dared it all.
That Call
I was just a campus student, young kid, I remember that day I was having a night shift job.
So me and my girlfriend, Wahu, she used to walk me half way on my way to work, , and then I´d head back to college.
So that day, I think I was a bit down, I was feeling really down.
Wifey, girlfriend at that time was trying to uplift my spirits but I was like, it will be alright.
Then I went to work.
When I reached jobbo, ofcos, my friend was there, we used to work just the 2 of us night shift.
Newton and me.
We started working as per kawaida and then, something interesting happened.
On the radio, at the time, Muthoni Bwika announced that the biggest producer, Tejo Signs in studio was looking for artists; rap or sing, give a call:
Yeeeah, Are you gifted? Are you talented? Can you drop a rhyme? Can you sing?
Well am waiting for you because he is looking out for talent and the person who wins, will cut a record with him aka, ´a single´ so just don´t sit around and give me a call on 24….
Nameless could not help but listen keenly.
I knew I had an interest in rapping, but I wasn´t sure that was my talent.
He thought about giving his friend, Newton a hint about his desire to give the producer a call and all, but he decided to keep it to himself.
Nameless stands up and goes to the office next door, to make that call.
To his surprise, Muthoni picks and she´s like:
Yoh, you wanna try it?
Yah, I wanna try.
Let´s go.
Breakthrough
So Nameless is given beats to rap to and here he goes:
Asubuhi na mapema, naamka, ninaoga, nauliza, mirror mirror on the ukuta, what do I need….?
Muthoni gave Nameless some positive vibes and went ahead:
Woh, that´s pretty cool…What´s your name?
Nameless was not sure what answer to give because he hadn´t decided on an artistic name so it became a challenge.
And bang! He picked on ´Nameless´ because chances are that his boss was listening on radio and all.
So Muthoni went with it but once they had made a decision, they would sure call back.
Nameless then heads back to office and Newton can´t just believe his friend missed a guy called ´Nameless´ rap on the radio.
And in my head I´m thinking, should I tell him it´s me?
So I ask him, what did you think about it, and stuff like that.
Next day, announcement is, ´Nameless´ actually won, he is now in the finals.
Same thing, he walks out of the room, leaves Newton in the office and goes into the next office, makes the call and returns.
So Newton is like, dude you keep missing.
Every time you go to the toilet, this guy comes on air.
Newton likes the rap and all and Nameless feels encouraged.
Good thing about it, is funny enough, guys liked the vibe and they voted me in and I won the gig with Tedd.
And…two days later, I was recording Megarider.
I can say that call I made, changed my life because at that point, on Monday, the next week, they launched my Megarider.
People loved it, it became my hit, and now I had to be Nameless.
People were anxious to know his kind of profile.
And that´s when my journey started, literally 20 years ago.
Nameless and his then girlfriend, Wahu were the key voices in the song.
Wahu is the voice behind the ´Nameless´ music bed as Nameless takes down the rap.
Fellow secular-cum-gospel artist, Wahu Kagwi is the mother of Nameless´ 2 adorable daughters.
Tedd Josiah produced Nameless debut dingle, ´Megarider´.
Megarider was recorded and released back in 1999 as Nameless first single, which opened paths to his unexpected musical journey.
Singers Nameless and Wahu were recently on IG to reveal their financial quagmires as fans followed closely.
According to Wahu, her hubby usually spends so much on shoes. In fact, he spends way more than her.
“Well, this guy here spends a lot of money on shoes. He buys his shoes so expensive. For me I window shop first and bargain before buying anything. I also look at it first before spending a coin on it. For my husband, window shopping is a not a thing for him.” said Wahu.
Adding:
“He buys shoes that are of the same colors and I am like, you cant spend that amount of money on a shoe and why have ten pairs same colors?”
Men also need to look good
Nameless on the hand defended himself saying that a man needs to stay smart.
“Mwanaume ni viatu. You better spend on your shoes than even on the clothes you wear adding that men shoes are more expensive than ladies.” he said.
“We want the situation when our kids do not fear us so much but at the same time respect us. My wife is usually the tough one in bringing up the kids. She is the chief-whip of the family.”
Wahu has released her second gospel song called “My Everything” and Kenyans are trying to figure out whether the veteran singer is talking about her husband Nameless.
In the song, Wahu shares her religious side and most importantly, her cry to God ‘after her husband fell sick’. The song has been inspired by a true story and the singer posted a long explanation on YouTube saying that it talks about a woman who realized her hubby was her balance when he got sick.
“My Everything talks of a woman who sought Gods intervention when her husband and father of her children suddenly fell ill, on an ordinary morning as the family went about their normal morning routines. At her point of desperation, and realizing that her husbands life was on the balance, she called on Jehovah Rapha, God our healer to reveal Himself …. and He did,” she captioned the song.
Talking about Nameless?
Fans have been quick to point out that Wahu is talking about Nameless, who, last year was hospitalized for a long period. Wahu hasn’t shared her side yet on who she’s talking about in her second gospel song that comes months after releasing “Sifa”.
Songbird Wahu Kagwia and her hubby Nameless this past weekend 10th September marked their 12th wedding anniversary through their social media pages where they wrote beautiful messages to show how blessed they feel to have each other.
Nameless and Wahu got married in a white wedding back in 2005 joining the list of celebrity couples from then. They have however been blessed with two lovely girls, Tumiso and Nyakio who have definitely brought joy to the couple.
These two remain as the perfect example of celebrity marriages since they have never been involved in any scandals and if I am not wrong, a testimony that celebrities can also stick to one partner.
Nameless through his gram shared the photo below where he wrote saying;
https://instagram.com/p/BY2pB48nL8w/
His wife Wahu Kagwi was also not left behind as she reposted the photo and wrote to say;
https://instagram.com/p/BY2v2zvl-VQ/
However what caught my attention, is that most celebrities including Maina Kageni also joined in to leave special messages to the couple. Read their comments in the posts above.
Singer Nameless is grateful to have his wife and two daughters but he also wants a son. He revealed this during an interview where he mentioned that he has been talking to his wife about another baby but he hopes she will bare him a baby boy this time around.
Nameless and Wahu got married in a flashy wedding back in 2005 and will be celebrating their 12th anniversary this September. So far they have been blessed with two girls, Tumiso (11) and Nyakio (4) but now Nameless feels that it is time to add a new family member.
“Hiyo ndio topic ya discussion kwa nyumba, juu tunadiscuss, ‘do you want another one’ Me I’m like ‘yeah I want another one’, but nataka boy, because I love my girls.”
Speaking to Word Is, Nameless happened to reveal how much he is craving for a son since he is already blessed with girls in his family. So to balance the equation the singer hopes he will get a son. He said,
“I need a boy in that house, unajua, unakuwa overpowered! So I’m like, ‘I want another one as long as long as kuna guarantee, ubaya hakuna guarantee. Ama kuna guarantee na sijui. Me natafuta all guarantees in formular, hapo naweza jaribu. I would love to have one. To be honest, I would really love to have a son.”
There are women who have not mastered ways of keeping their relationship and marriages spicy but singer Wahu might have just shared one of the reasons she keeps her man in check and coming back to her.
The singer and mother of two beautiful girls was recently spotted grinding and bumping on her husband in their washroom back at home after Nameless shared the video on his Instagram page.
Wahu who has always been supportive of her husband could not help but show love to his latest song dubbed Inspire leaving the likes of DJ Mo and Sauti Sol’s Bien commenting on the hot video.
The two are a true definition of what love looks like, even though we know all relationships have their ups and downs. Below is the video causing a stir on social media:
