Unfortunately for them, Muthoni already has a man making her happy; and if anything, this relationship is here to stay. Introducing him via her social media pages, the popular singer based in Europe went on to praise her in her caption as she wrote;

#MCM for life ❤️ Forever and one day my love.

For years now, Muthoni has not only made a name for herself in the entertainment industry; but has build a brand through her music and gigs.

Back in the 2014 to 2017 the singer created a platform ‘Wine and Blankets’ where local and international acts got to meet and blend with their fans.

It started like a joke for her, until it struck her one morning that ‘Blankets & Wine’ could actually be more than just her small circle of friends. Just like that Blankets & Wine was born in 2008.

Her aim being one; to give local talent a platform to showcase what they’ve got. “Kenya first!” was her driving motto.

6 years later, her vision had blown up to receive massive recognition outside Kenya – something that wasn’t her intended goal.

She decided it was time to re-evaluate.

The collision

Blankets & Wine faced massive backlash after the turn over and that is how Muthoni and Sauti Sol clashed. Turns out Sauti Sol had been invited for a night gig in early 2014, where they would perform with South Africa-based trio, Mi Casa.

“We felt like Sauti Sol had come to a point in their career where they were bonafide headliners. So Saturday night would be Mi Casa and Sauti Sol who would close the night, ” Muthoni Drummer Queen said.

Intentions Sauti Sol misinterpreted instead, getting the impression they were being undermined.

“What Sauti Sol understood is that we’ve put them sort of like the DJ who plays after the main act. What we meant with a lot of love and admiration, they took it like we were trying to sabotage them. They came through on Saturday and they gave us a lot of sh!t,” the Blankets&Wine CEO continued.

This hurt her badly;

That night was a very hurtful experience, you guys [Sauti Sol] actually genuinely owe me an apology even as we’re friends.

The apology

The news got to Sauti Sol soon enough, responding;

A dear Muthoni acknowledged the apology affirming that the Blankets&Wine team had duly received it as well.

Muthoni DQ is doing Kenya proud but we can’t see it

About a fortnight ago, I came across a video of Muthoni Ndonga, alias Muthoni Drummer Queen, performing at France’s biggest music festival dubbed Les Vieilles Charrues and I was really enthralled.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B00oXpjHT3f/

As expected, she went on stage with some mad energy and the crowd seemed to be enjoying every second of her performance never mind that some of the lyrics were in Swahili and Sheng. To say the least, she really represented Kenya well.

The clip got me thinking about Muthoni DQ and how many of us (here at home) have even forgotten that she even exists. She has released a couple of songs here and there in the last few years but only a handful cared enough to listen to them.

One of the verses in the New Testament says that a prophet is never welcome in their  hometown and the Suzie Noma hit maker is proof that it’s really the case because apart from performing before 25,000 people she also shared the stage with David Guetta, Black Eyed Peas and the likes. How do you explain that?

You see, the truth is that Muthoni DQ is very talented. She is one of the few Kenyan artists who put so much thought into their work and gives us amazing output every single time but we choose to celebrate mediocre content so all her efforts go down the drain, at least locally.

In my opinion she has done so much to raise the Kenyan flag high but because we are so ungrateful, she seems to be following the following the footsteps of STL who decided a carve a loyal fan base out of the country. Maybe, just maybe we’ll one day learn to appreciate good music.

Blinky Bill has teamed up with Mayonde and MDQ on Feeling It and it’s a banger (Audio)

Kenyan singer-cum-producer popularly known as Bill Selanga, popularly known as Blinky Bill and formerly of Just A Band, has dropped a new jam alongside Mayonde and Muthoni Drummer Queen and we really love it.

The song titled Feeling It, from the album Everyone’s Just Winging It And Other Fly Tales, is all about having a good time and celebrating memorable moments.

As you would expect, Mayonde’s delivery was really on point in this jam. As such, it doesn’t really come as a surprise that she was given the first verse and hook. Her voice is just golden.

Muthoni Drummer Queen also did well. Her wordplay and rhymes in this jam were really on point. You just want to keep listening to her as she flows.

Blinky Bill also nailed it. There’s just something about his voice that makes you hooked to a song from the moment you hit the play button.

The beat for this jam is also dope. It has this Afro-beat vibe that I could not get enough of. Props to the producer, he is the baddest.

“Willy Paul is not the b*llsh!t here” Muthoni Drummer Queen advises singer to ditch the Church crowd

Singer Muthoni Drummer Queen has come out to advise Willy Paul to focus on the type of music that he feels is good for his career.

This comes after the singer was bashed for hiding behind the gospel industry yet his own actions speak otherwise.

According to Muthoni Drummer Queen, she feels that he has potential to conquer the ‘secular’ industry and should ditch the gospel industry and develop himself as an artist who is not afraid of being himself.

KE gospel is not about Jesus

The outspoken singer goes on to critic the KE gospel industry saying it’s not about Jesus but is about moving masses of bodies.

For this reason her message to Willy Paul is to do what is right for himself not caring the fans he will lose because at the end of the day he will gain others.

Singer Muthoni Drummer Queen might not be a huge topic back at home but abroad she’s making a statement.

Stars

Taking to social media, Muthoni shared several photos with the Black Eyed Peas members saying it was a dream come true to meet them.

“No exaggerating, #BEP are literally the mark on the wall for me. I’ve been a fan for so long, and as an artist, they’re the guiding light for how far we can take our Kenya/Swiss combo. Thank you for everything you have done for music, for creators and for the culture” she said.

Adding:

“Best part of meeting them is finding that they are super cool, real, funny and accessible humans in real life. They’ve lived through real things. They know the blessing that is their life. They’re stars for sure, but they’re such dope human beings. That’s the thing that will stay with me the longest.”

Muthoni DQ’s ‘ugly’ dress code leaves fans agreeing she’s Kenya’s Lady Gaga

Singer Muthoni Drummer Queen has always surprised Kenyans with her dress code. The singer, who has a new album called “She” which is all about ladies, recently left many looking for answers after stepping out in a dress code not familiar with many.

While many are figuring out where they can get Fila and Champion cloths, the rich CEO is from Mars, and her style is definitely out of this world. According to experts, her style is inspired by the Bohemian culture which first started around the 1950s/19060s by hippie travelers.

Not familiar

The style conforms to their free spirit ones with a don’t care attitude about things like attires. Well, perhaps that’s why it sound so alien and Lady Gaga-ish to Kenyans so much, who are used to seeing Ofweneke only in suits and Papa Shirandula in his watchman gear.

Muthoni Drummer Queen goes ballistic on Ezekiel Mutua

Muthoni Drummer Queen picked a fight with moral police Ezekiel Mutua following recent moved by Kenya Film and Classification Board (KFCB) to ban films and censor the creative industry.

Drummer Queen held a talk with industry stakeholders on  Saturday the 26th of May at Ukweli Café to discuss KFCB’s mandate.

“This is not the time to hide behind your apathy talking about ‘its Kenya’ ‘nothing changes’ ‘Ezekiel is a government guy with top level support so we can’t win.’ STOP THAT NONSENSE! That lazy defeatist attitude must go! This battle is for the ones who are doing it for real. Those whose livelihood comes from their creativity. It is not just film that is under siege, it’s all our creative outputs,” Muthoni tweeted.

Controversial cap 222

The rapper argues that Film and stage plays law – Cap 222 has not been updated over years. She claims that cap 222 is what Ezekiel Mutua exploits to crush the industry whenever he feels.

Muthoni Drama Queen openly shares her frustration as Kenyan media rejects her while promoting album

Singer Muthoni Drama Queen is one frustrated lady after two media houses gave her a bunch of lame excuses on why her interviews to promote her new album “She” were canceled.

Muthoni has just released her album and she’s been on a promotion spree trying to get her merchandise to all corners by spreading the word on all platforms. She made a series of rants on Instagram after the interviews were canceled saying Kenyan media has always despised local artists.

Not forgetting to schedule international artists

The singer also went on to add that local media can never forget or blunder with international artists but easily do it with local guys.

“To be Kenyan and to deal with the media is extreme sports. This morning both our interviews are cancelled.

The 1st one the presenter dint bother to book us in. The second one the producers says me plus my assistant, publicist are too many people

Such ‘madharau’ for us. I bet they won’t ‘forget’ to schedule in Mr Eazi or Rick Ross or complain that they would move in with their respective teams. Such disregard for our time. Just people out here being mediocre and making this our problem.

Imagine they have cancelled when we are literally on the way. Like 5 minutes ago. Nonsense!”

Muthoni Drummer Queen (MDQ) releases lit video ‘Criminal’ based on the real life of Matheri’s widow

Muthoni Drummer Queen is excited to release her single ‘Criminal’ from her latest album SHE

Criminal is basically inspired by the real life story of the widow of one of Kenya’s most wanted criminals Simon Matheri.

As his dramatic capture by the police played out on TV, it became apparent that his young widow was only finding out in that moment that her husband was Kenya’s most wanted criminal. As a young teen, Muthoni watched this story unfold on the news on TV and in her words

“I never forgot how shocked and lost Materi’s widow looked. What a cruel way to find out your whole life has been a lie. To have your husband literally shot dead by the police at the doorstep of your home must have been too much to bear. And what happens to her after that? How does she carry on? How does she live in that community anymore? I carry her in my thoughts and send her healing vibe as often as I can.”

MDQ’s event

Anyway, Muthoni will be holding an album release concert on the 6th of April at the Alchemist at wetlands.
