Mr. Nice praises Diamond for continuing his heritage

Bongo Flava veteran Mr Nice has commended Diamond Platnumz, asserting that Diamond serves as the torchbearer of his musical legacy from the past.

Mr Nice shared his thoughts during an interview on the Jana na Leo TV show, reflecting on the current state of the music industry.

The Fagilia hitmaker expressed confidence that even in death, his fans would not miss him, as they could witness his essence through Diamond’s musical journey.

Mr Nice explained that Diamond’s current endeavors, including fashion choices, private jet travels, and global impact, resonate with experiences from Mr Nice’s own past.

“In my time, chartering a private jet for a show was normal. Boarding a plane alone and going to the United States was like going to the market and coming back for me. The things Diamond is doing now, even if I die, Mr Nice will continue to exist through Diamond,” he stated.

Defending Diamond’s choice to showcase his life on social media, Mr Nice asserted that when an artist reaches a certain stature, they must take specific actions to establish their greatness.

“People say, oh, Diamond is bragging, but he’s not bragging! This is his time, and these things are possible, not because he’s faking it, but because this is his moment. Whether you like it or not, Diamond is the one in the spotlight now. What can you do? Maybe hang yourself,” he remarked.

Mr Nice fondly recalled a time when he had substantial wealth, even casually carrying money in the trunk of his car. However, he acknowledged that times and circumstances have changed, and what was once normal may not be feasible now.

Expressing his aspirations for collaborations with emerging artists, Mr Nice specifically mentioned his desire to collaborate with Diamond Platnumz, recognizing him as a key figure in the current music landscape.

Diamond Platnumz should be very afraid of Harmonize

Diamond Platnumz has been the face of Tanzanian music for a long time and I feel that is about to change thanks to one Rajab Abdul Kahali, known to you and I as Harmonize.

The two artists are cut from the same cloth and perhaps this explains why Diamond Platnumz devised all manner of tactics to frustrate Uno hitmaker’s efforts to exit WCB Records.

Harmonize

They appeal to the same audience and it would have been much easier for Diamond Platnumz to have him under his nose where he can sort of control and monitor what he is putting out.

But now that Harmonize is a free man having paid a Tsh 600 million – approximately Ksh 26.2 million – fine that was imposed on him for exiting WCB Records, Diamond Platnumz should be very afraid.

The truth is that Harmonize is a hard worker just like Diamond Platnumz and the fact that he had been working with the latter for so many years even before we got to know about him means that he has learned the ropes.

Diamond Platnumz

He knows what it takes to be at the top and he’s going for it. This is evidenced by his recently released 18-track album titled Afro East which features the likes of; Morgan Heritage, Khaligraph Jones, Phyno, Yemi Alade, Burna Boy etc.

The album is doing very well and it’s what everyone is talking about, including Diamond Platnumz himself as he took to Instagram to congratulate Harmonize for the huge milestone.

If you ask me, this album would not have been delayed if Harmonize was still at WCB Records because you are sort of not allowed to outshine the boss.

There was a time when the likes of Mr Nice, Matonya and Ali Kiba were the faces of Tanzanian music and I feel that a similar coup is happening at the moment and before you know it, Diamond Platnumz will be long forgotten.

The ban is good

Mr Nice has stepped forth to thank authorities for blacklisting songs that don’t adhere to accepted moral standards in Tanzania.

The veteran singer congratulated BASATA for their move in an interview with East Africa Radio’s Planet Bongo.
He says BASATA acted wisely to ban the songs.

Mr Nice argues that a few ‘rotten’ musicians would have tainted the reputation of other good artists if their ratchet songs hadn’t been banned.

“Unajua vijana, watoto wadogo ndio wanapenda sana muziki kwa sasa, mimi kama msanii nikiimba kitu ambacho hakina maana, mantiki, adabu ni vibaya. Serikali inaona ni ajira yako lakini isifike mahali ukachafua watu wengine, ni afadhali wewe samaki mmoja uliyeoza ukatupwa wengine wakaendelea kuchanua sio wote waonekane wameoza,” said Mr Nice.

Mr Nice robbed during Governor Mike Sonko’s inauguration ceremony

Mr Nice is said to have been robbed off his expensive jewelry and other personal stuff at Uhuru Park during the Mike Sonko inauguration ceremony that attracted thousands of people a few days ago.

The robbery apparently took place after the Tanzanian Star Mr Nice decided to mingle with fans as he performed for the crowd.

From the photos one can see the singer shaking hands with a few people in the crowd – however after pulling this move, he ended up losing his flashy accessories.

According to reports this left the Tanzanian singer shaken up and was escorted backstage by the Sonko rescue team to help him calm down.

However, one County official addressed this issue by assuring the singer that they would look into the matter as a few people believed to have robbed the singer were arrested on site. He said,

“It is expected that gangs would take advantage of this event to rob innocent citizens. As the county government, part of our agenda is to tighten security and make Nairobi secure from these criminals. We are working with the county police and a number of those who were harassing citizens have been apprehended and awaiting trial,”

Before Diamond and Ali Kiba, there was a music king called Lucas Mkenda popularly known as Mr. Nice. He gave us hits like ‘Kikulacho’, ‘Fagilia’, ‘Kidali Po’ among others.

Mr. Nice’s downfall was almost as fast as his rise to stardom, women and unending thirst for alcohol were the root cause of his annihilation.

During his time as the most revered singer in East Africa, Mr. Nice was also the most arrogant musician you could ever meet. Ali Kiba talked about this in his song ‘Mac Muga’.

But it’s Harmonize who has put Mr. Nice’s story into perspective, the Wasafi star used Mr. Nice as a video vixen to tell his own story in a new song dubbed ‘Sina’.
