Rapper Mr Blue: “Friends Got Me Into Drugs, but Left When I Went Broke”

Veteran Bongo Flava artist Mr. Blue has opened up about how the pressures of fame led him into drug addiction. Known for his distinct voice and hit songs like “Mapoz,” Mr. Blue revealed the personal struggles that often come with celebrity life.

In a recent interview with the BBC, Mr. Blue shared that he had never used drugs before gaining fame. However, everything changed when he entered the music industry. “When I started in music, I was just a kid without any friends. But after I became famous, everyone wanted to be close to me, pretending to care. I have a good heart, so I welcomed people into my life without hesitation. When someone smoked (cigarettes or bhang) near me, it became easy for me to join in. Soon, alcohol became a regular part of my routine, and I started neglecting my studio sessions, getting lost in drug abuse,” Mr. Blue admitted.

The rapper, who recently remixed his hit “Mapoz” with Diamond Platnumz and Jay Melody, said that as his finances dwindled, the friends who once surrounded him began to disappear. “I was a calm, focused young man when I started my music career, but I was misled by the people I trusted. When I finally realized what was happening, I was broke, and one by one, the people who claimed to love me vanished. But I thank God for guiding me through it. Losing my mother at a young age, finding a wife, and becoming a father brought me back to my senses because I now had new responsibilities,” he explained.

The jam titled Pombe Na Mziki has been ruling the airwaves since it came out a few days ago and to be honest, we’re also feeling it.

Steve RnB

Pombe Na Mziki is a party song. It’s the kind of music that would not miss on the playlist of a club because it kind of inspires revelers to keep drinking.

It’s so infectious. If you have been a fan of Mr Blue as long as I have then this will definitely be a treat for you because he really brought his A-game on this one.

His flow and wordplay skills are impeccable and you just want to keep listening to him as he does his thing. Notably, he also has great punchlines and the best part is that Swahili rap slaps so hard.

Mr Blue

Steve RnB also came through on this track. He spiced it up with his amazing voice which blends really well with that of Mr. Blue. The two artists really complement one another and they should just become a group. Okay, I’m joking.

The beat on this song is dope because it slaps hard and blends well with the vocals of the two musicians. I really love the video because of its crisp quality and flawless scene transitioning.

The jam titled Inanimaliza, which is a Swahili word that means it’s finishing me is off Harmonize’s album Afro East and it has been ruling the airwaves since it came out a few days ago.

Mr Blue

Maybe you can already tell, maybe you can’t for one reason or another but Inanimaliza is a love ballad. It talks about a couple that is going through tough times and hurting because of waht they feel for each other.

In the track, Harmonize narrates how he felt the first time he saw this lady and how they fell out. It is his wishes that things could go back to the way they were but it seems impossible at this point.

Although I am not a huge fan of Bongo music, I really love this jam. I don’t know about you but I think it’s infectious, it is the kind of song that will make you text your ex and tell her that you miss her or slide into your crush’s DM.

Harmonize

Harmonize has an amazing voice and as you listen to the jam, you can tell that he is really sincere about the way that he feels about the lady in question. Notably, he also knows how to control his voice.

Mr Blue really spiced up this jam with his rap. Otherwise it would be just another love song. This guy has an amazing flow and you just want to keep listening to him as he does his thing.

Of course, I absolutely love the instrumentation in this jam though I have a feeling that some of you will say it’s slow. However, I feel it works.

The jam titled Niko Sawa, which is are Swahili words that mean I’m okay, has been ruling the airwaves since it came out a few hours ago and to be honest, we also love it.

Mr Blue

As you would expect, this track is really infectious. If you love both Kelechi Africana and Mr Blue then I’ll tell you for free that this is the treat of a lifetime.

Kelechi Africana did a good job on Niko Sawa. This lad can really sing and the way I see it, the one thing that makes him a cut above the rest is his unique voice.

To add to that, he knows how to control his voice and as he sings you can tell that he means what he’s saying and it’s like he the listener in mind and that makes it easier for his fans to connect with him.

Kelechi Africana

Mr Blue also killed it. You see, although the Tanzanian star has a similar style with Kelechi Africana, as you listen to Niko Sawa you can tell that there is such a big difference between the two artists.

And I guess that is the reason why this song is very catchy. Despite the fact that they have different styles, they really blend well on one song so much so that your hand will be stuck on the replay button.

The beat and instrumentation on this jam is also impeccable. It is those kind of songs that you can’t resist the urge to bust a move to as you listen to them.

TID & Mr Blue have linked up with KJ Tripple on ‘Carolina’ and it’s a hit (Video)

Award-winning musicians TID and Mr Blue have featured in KJ Tripple’s latest jam and we are feeling it ladies and gentlemen.

The song titled Carolina is about this lass whose beauty is driving many men crazy so much so that they are willing to do just anything to have her.

TID and KJ Tripple
TID and KJ Tripple

I really love this jam. It’s so catchy and well arranged. To add to that, KJ Tripple made a good decision to do the song with TID and Mr. Blue. The three of them really blend well.

The hook by TID is on point. I don’t know about you but his singing took me back to the days of Siamini and Zeze. It’s very likely that you will find yourself singing along.

KJ Tripple is not that bad either. Actually, I’m ashamed of myself because I discovered him after this jam was released but as they say better late than  never. I totally loved his flow.

As expected, Mr Blue’s flow was out of this world. I loved his wordplay and witty rhymes. I had to rewind his verse a couple of times.

The beat on this joint is also sick. I was literally dancing on the seat as I was writing this review. Props to the producer who goes by the name Kitonzo.

Mr. Blue has featured Aslay in his new jam titled ‘Nitabadilika’ and it’s a big tune (Audio)

Tanzanian musician Khery Sameer Rajab, popularly known as Mr Blue, has featured the equally talented Dogo Aslay in his latest release and  we love it.

The song dubbed Nitabadilika, which is a Swahili word that means ‘I’ll change’, is about a man who is promising his significant other that he will reform.

Aslay
Aslay

Mr Blue says that he willing drop habits such as coming to the house late and excessive drinking because he loves the lady.  He also promises her that he will listen to every word that she says.

This jam is so dope, apart from the cliche message in it, you must admit that the delivery by Mr Blue and Dogo Aslay was out of this world.

I don’t know if this jam is dope because of  their voices but the way it flows is so mice. I kept hitting the replay button and didn’t want the song to end. Now that is what defines beautiful music.

The beat on this jam is also awesome. You could say that it sounds pretty much the same like most of the Bongo jams out there but you have to agree that it really blends well with the vocals.

Mr Blue has linked up with Mejja Kunta on ‘Mamu Remix’ and it’s too dope (Video)

Tanzanian singer Khery Sameer Rajab, better known as Mr Blue, has linked up with Mejja Kunta on the remix of the latter’s popular hit Mamu.

The song dubbed Mamu Remix has received a lot of airplay on both TV and radio stations since it was released a few weeks ago.

To say that I love this jam would be an understatement because it’s so great, I know that you will agree with me after listening to it.

As expected, Mr Blue really came through. His bars in this jam are dope and you just want to keep listening to him as he flows.

Mejja Kunta
Mejja Kunta

Of course, the other thing that stood out me is the Kwasa Kwasa (or is Lingala) beat and instrumentals. It makes this jam funky and chances are you’ll have it on replay because of the two.

To be honest, I was not really impressed by the visuals for this. I felt it was too simple and dull. If you are the kind of person who is into music videos, I feel that you will be disappointed by this one but then again maybe it’s just me.

Generally speaking, this song is dope. It’s worth your time and if you have good taste, like yours truly, then I am sure you’ll spend the rest of this day jamming to this song.
