Sarah Cheruiyot, the mother of President William Ruto, showed wonderful maternal concern by reaching out to writer Zipporah Achieng.
Achieng was handling a camera while wearing a short, bodycon dress at the time of the incident, which happened at an event held at the Uasin Gishu county administrative building.
Mama Sarah acted right away out of concern for Achieng’s convenience and comfort. She approached the young journalist and covered her with a Maasai shuka, saying she was concerned Achieng could have trouble stooping to pick up any fallen items.
Mama Sarah quietly sat back down after carefully putting the shuka around Achieng’s waist, leaving the bystanders amazed and intrigued.
Achieng quickly left the gathering while still donning the shuka in response to the circumstance. To everyone’s surprise, she then emerged a short while later dressed in a blue trouser suit. It soon became clear that her leaving wasn’t a protest but an attempt to address the issue and express her gratitude.

Achieng moved to the dais where Mama Sarah was seated as she was overcome with regret and gratitude. The two women gave each other a warm embrace as she drew near, their smiles beaming with appreciation and love.
“I was wondering, with that short dress, how would she be able to pick up that camera in case it fell down. I chose to bless her,” she said.
The guests found it to be a moving moment that served as a reminder of the power of empathy and understanding.
Mama Sarah explained the motivations behind the act, stating that she wanted the young journalist to be able to perform her tasks in comfort.
Jonathan Bii, the governor of Uasin Gishu, received a visit from Mama Sarah, during which he also gave title deeds to locals.
