UDA letter surfaces online planning demonstration outside Raila’s house

Politics is a dirty game so when a letter surfaced online allegedly from within UDA claiming that the party members were seeking permission to hold their own demonstration outside Azimio principal’s houses, I meet it with a lot of skepticism.

Will The ‘Maandamano’ Monday Protests Change Anything?

Maandamano Mondays had a huge impact on the nation as areas seen as Azimio strongholds held protests against the rising cost of living. UDA party members came out strongly to condemn the mass action calling on Raila to call his supporters to heel claiming the nation had lost 2 billion shillings due to the protests announced by Honourable Raila Odinga, the leader of the opposition.

The letter would have you believe that party members are seeking permission from within their own internal organs to hold counter-protests in a move that would be incendiary at best! And so one has to wonder whether or not this is a false flag by the opposition.

In a letter dated March 17th, the members of the UDA said the following:

#Maandamano: Maseno Student shot dead by police

“Wk appreciate the role and mandate of The National Police Service. in maintaining
law and order. preserving peace. and protecting ife and property. I i in this regard.
wwe write to request security personnel in view of hustlers that will be demonstrating
against dwisive politics, destruction of property, and probable loss of ves. This is in light
of Azimio’s Countrywide demonstrations scheduled for Monday 20% 2023.

We are expecting at least 20,000 people in tomorrows piketing on Karen, Kisury, and
Lower Kabete roads leading to the following homesteads;

1. Raila Odinga

2. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka

3. Martha Karu

4. Eugene Wamalwa

Your consideration of our request wil be highly appreciated.

Kindly expedite.”

Time will tell whether or not this was an empty threat or propaganda by their opposing party to sully their reputation.

Huddah says Kenyans complaining about cost of living just need to earn more

Huddah Monroe is back to her vapid ways but this time, we can’t say she’s wrong… I mean, her statement is dumb and distasteful but she’s not wrong!

For some reason she decided to bless us with her 2 cents regarding the cost of living protests that were held on Monday, 21st March 2023 and according to her, they are of no avail.

‘I Once Dated A Makanga’- Huddah Monroe

Huddah feels like the Kenyans complaining about what is happening needs to be addressed as a challenge to raise one’s income rather than complain about existing taxes. And I know that sounded smart to your girlfriend because she too is a bimbo.

The problem with this solution is that it doesn’t address the underlying source of the socio-economic pressure: government spending. You see, we are being taxed because of loans our “leaders” took.

Huddah’s pregnancy was not real ????

A result of one particular loan we went to beg for was to be told that the government had to pull back any subsidies they had extended to Kenyans to cushion us from tough times. Huddah would know that this means that regardless of how much you earn, you cannot tax a country into prosperity.

And so she would know that while her advise is solid; find ways to increase your income, governance can cut what you own and make it worth less by piling on taxes as it has been doing to the common mwananchi.

Only foolish women would listen to Huddah’s relationship advice

And this is why I regret asking where the celebrities were while Kenyans were demonstrating. If Huddah is opening her mouth to role-play Marie Antionnette then I’d rather she remained silent.

Will The ‘Maandamano’ Monday Protests Change Anything?

Yesterday, Kenya witnessed the influence of Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga on netizens after the demos in some parts of the country went haywire.

The protests spread to other cities, with a university student reportedly shot dead in Kisumu.

Mr Odinga accuses the government of being “illegitimate”, and of failing to tackle the high cost of living. President Ruto rejected the claims.

Kenya’s highest court upheld his victory in last year’s election, but Mr Odinga insists that the election was “stolen”. He has been employing all means to make sure that his cry has been heard.

Kenya braces for protests against rising cost of living

He has been driving through Nairobi’s residential suburbs to rally his supporters and has vowed to organize weekly protests against the government.

But the big question is, will the protests really change Kenya for the better? Will the prices of products reduce? Will we get more subsidies from the Government?

From my perspective, it’s not really about going to protest on Mondays; but rather meeting the President and trying to solve things amicably. Soon, the protests will wreck havoc if they continue.

Why your favourite celebrities are silent over Maandamano Monday

Maandamano Monday is currently the trending topic of the day as the country’s official opposition has decided this would be the day when Kenyans would express their frustrations at the rising cost of living and the perceived failure of the sitting government.

‘Dawa Ya Homa Ni Teargas’-Protestors Tease Police To Throw Teargas At Them

What is, however, very interesting, is the silence from all the celebrities who style themselves as thought-shapers and provocateurs. The often mouthy bunch of Instagram influencers and other celebrities have chosen to exercise their silence.

There is alot to be said about the current economic situation and the prevalent political discourse shows a hunger for such conversation but Maandamano Monday seems to have scared our celebrities.

#Maandamano: Police in Kisumu overwhelmed by protesters

Perhaps its due to their lack of information so they have nothing intelligent to share. Or perhaps they are afraid of being victimized and sidelined by the sitting government which has shown an interest in cozying up to influencers.

It is especially interesting when you recall just how many Kenyan celebrities had attempted to make a play for elective seats ranging from MCAs to members of parliament.

Man Shot During The Ongoing Maandamano Protests

That means we would have the most informed conversations but we are faced with silence. Maandamano Monday would have meant most of these political aspirants have a platform to speak on issues affecting Kenya. Guys like Frasha, DNG (who actually won his elective seat as an MCA), Gabu etc.

Let us watch their silence and tomorrow we’ll be back to stupid fights about baby showers and gender reveals.

The anticipated #maandamano protests have seen numerous people get tear-gased in the outskirts of Nairobi and Kisumu.

In effort to disperse demonstrators, police have reportedly shot a man. Witnesses on the scene claim that he was not a protester but rather, he was a mechanic at work.

For the better part of Monday morning, police officers pitched camp at different areas in Nairobi ahead of the expected protests

In Nairobi, security was beefed up in areas where protestors were expected to hit, alongside the CBD, State House, Supreme Court, Kibra, among other places.
