Lulu Hassan and Rashid Abdalla are widely regarded as one of the most esteemed celebrity couples in Kenya, primarily due to their remarkable ability to navigate away from controversies and scandals that have plagued other high-profile marriages. For the past five years, starting from July 22, 2018, Rashid and Lulu have been the esteemed news anchors, showcasing their exceptional professionalism and compatibility. During an event held on Tuesday night, October 24, 2023, to launch a new TV series called ‘Zari’, Lulu, who is a mother of three, candidly shared her insights on the secret to a blissful marriage while conversing with vloggers. She emphasized the significance of friendship between couples as the cornerstone of a happy and fulfilling marital union.

“Munapaswa kuwa marafiki kwanza. I think tulicreate ile friendship kabla tuowane. Mimi kwangu Rashid ndio ni mume wangu but mume haiji kwanza, kwanza ni rafiki. I think namchukulia kama rafiki then mume ni baadaye,” she said.

The Swahili news anchor additionally underscored the importance of problem-solving in marriage.

“Kukosana kuko, binadamu mgani hawakosani? Kila mtu wanakosana but mukikosana si lazima muonyeshe kila mtu mumekosana. And there is a way you can solve your problem as well bila dunia nzima kujua,” Lulu Hassan said.

Well-known Kenyan television personality Lulu Hassan has revealed some details regarding the happy ending to her 15-year marriage to Rashid Abdalla.

In a recent candid interview at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), Lulu provided an unusual recipe for marital bliss, arguing that the key to their happiness lies in keeping their arguments in the privacy of their bedroom. This is in stark contrast to the corny stories of love and harmony.

This open discussion exposed an unexpectedly different aspect to their relationship—one that is very different from the flawless public persona they present.

The fascinating tale of how Lulu and Rashid met was revealed by the mother of three children. She clarified that having recently lost her mother, Rashid had first been a friend to her at a difficult moment when she needed someone to lean on.

After growing from a helpful friend to a significant role in her life and eventually becoming a devoted husband, Rashid and she are currently commemorating 15 years of marriage. She said, “Rashid alikuja kama rafiki kwanza,” which means that their bond was formed via companionship and assistance to one another.

“Unajua ile time mumefiliwa you need a shoulder to lean on and stuff hivyo ndio niliona rashid niliona huyu ni kama baba mwenye nilikuwa sina kwa familia. Hivyo ndio kidogo kidogo tu mapenzi ilikuja na sai tukona watoto watatu na 15 years in marriage.

Their handling of disagreement is what makes their marriage so contentious. Lulu disclosed that they never argue in public; when they do, they keep their arguments to themselves in their bedroom and don’t carry them over into the following day.

“Sisi ni marafiki hatukorofishani na kama tutakorofishana tutakorofishana tutafanya ndani ya room na hataiendelea hadi the next day. Hatujai beba makasiriko to the next day.

Their unusual habit of “fighting in bed” is how they manage to have a nice and calm relationship. It’s undoubtedly a contentious strategy that goes against conventional relationship counsel that promotes candid communication during arguments.

Lulu also praised Rashid’s character and his commitment to his career. He was a wonderful friend and a nice husband, according to her. She even spoke positively about a “bad” argument they had once, suggesting that these kinds of arguments weren’t often and didn’t stay with her. She expressed her enthusiasm for Rashid’s attributes by highlighting his workaholic tendencies, wisdom, and affection.

Singer Jovial has not been having it easy for the past few weeks. Well, she’s been dealing with an obsessive fan stalking her every move, and before this could even settle – she’s back to dealing with trolls from Netizens.

The said trolls were a result of a viral video of her performing for birthday boy, Rashid Abdalla, who appeared captivated by her vocals and dancing moves – before wifey, Lulu Hassan stepped in to dance with her man.

Unfortunately this stunt resulted to mixed feelings. There are fans who feel Lulu Hassan may have felt ‘jealous’ watching her man get entertained by another woman, while others feel that they were all having fun. Really nothing serious.

Lulu started off her career as an English radio presenter. When she was still a presenter at Radio Salaam in 2008, a KTN cameraman informed her there was a crisis at KTN. Two of KTN’s Swahili anchors were going for maternity leave, and they needed someone to step in. The cameraman asked her to try her luck. Being a risk-taker, she went for a screen test, and she was hired.She later moved to Royal Media Services, where she is and anchors till now.

Citizen Tv’s news anchor Lulu Hassan is one with good taste when it comes to fashion. For her, this is just a walk in the park andfor a long time she has proven that Islam does not stand in her way when it comes to slaying.

The photos taken back in 2013 finally made it to social media courtesy of Lulu Hassan who shared them to mark ‘Throwback Thursday.’ As seen on the photos, Lulu was still a very young lady; and the smile on her face confirms that this was indeed the happiest day of her life.

Contrary to this, turns out that Lulu Hassan actually enjoys working with her husband. She revealed this while responding back to her fan. According to Lulu Hassan, working with her husband/children’s father is amazing and if I am not wrong, the lass would never trade this feeling for any other!

Don’t get me wrong but judging from how handsome their sons look; we can’t help but admire them once in a while! And now that the Citizen TV couple has a daughter, fans can’t help but show their excitement everytime a new photo surfaced online.

Well, just the other day Lulu unveiled a new photo shared on her Instagram page. Apart from the many comments left by fan’s gashing over the little princess, we also couldn’t help notice the striking resemblance between the baby and Rashid Abdalla!

As seen on the photo shared by Rashid Abdalla, there is no doubt that his sons are growing up quite fast; and if anything, they also seem to be taking after daddy.

This is in reference to the unfortunate incident that went down at the Likoni ferry channel more than a week ago.

As mother and daughter lay helpless as their Toyota ISIS car gradually sank with very little hope left, one man did the most noble thing so far.

Individuals watched the car sinking and Mariam crying out for help. But one man bravely came out and without much ceremony, took immediate action to try and rescue the two.

I want to mention him, not once, not twice, I want to mention him so many times though I don’t know his name. I don’t know his name but I know of his bravery and his golden heart. The man I don’t know his name is the only brave man in the coastal region. This brave man, when everyone else was doing nothing he jumped to the ocean. When Mariam and her baby Amanda were shouting for help he had jumped with a rope, though the bystanders heard the cry for help. The man I don’t know his name was the only one who heeded the cry of Mariam and Baby Amanda.

Without any life-saving gear, without any oxygen tank. Basically lacking any protection from the imminent dangers in the deep ocean waters. The man was determined to save at least a life.

A man, who has captured the hearts of many including the mother of 3, Lulu Hassan. A guy who might not have received as much recognition as the ‘divers’ have, but it does take courage.

The media personality has come out with one humble plea to the public, to help her identify the man with a big heart.

Because despite fact that he might not have been accorded the deserving recognition, Lulu believes the man is brave and worth celebrating.

Gone too soon

Adding that Mariam probably did want to thank the man for his efforts. But the tides did not allow her to thank him for his big heart and bravery.

Mariam may have seen him before it was dark. She may have seen him and said bye and thanks before the salty waters filed up her lungs. Mariam may have seen this great man before her tears were carried away by the powerful waves and said thanks anyway. She and her baby died a painful death, she died when those concerned of her safety were in deep slumber only to wake up and shed crocodile tears.

Though he did not succeed, the man I don’t know his name, had tried, he had no oxygen cylinder. He had no swimsuits, no speed boat, nothing but a big heart. Almost sacrificing his life to save another. He had tried. I think Mariam never knew his name too, she had seen him try, but said bye and thank you before it was all dark. Marriage works! Lulu Hassan and Rashid Abdalla celebrate 10th wedding anniversary

Popular media personalities Lulu Hassan and her husband Rashid Abdalla yesterday 30th July marked 10 years since they walked down the aisle.

The couple which has been an inspiration to the youth went on to share a few photos through their gram celebrating the far they have come.

Citizen TV Swahili news anchor Lulu Hassan, it seems, is not a queen of Swahili language only. The popular news anchor recently surprised a section of Kenyans after speaking fluent Kikuyu. Yes, Kikuyu.

The mother of three held a conversation with a colleague while speaking the vernacular language yesterday leaving her fans awed. She had a light talk with fellow news anchor Muthoni Wamukiri who anchors at Inooro TV.

The video amazed fans who begged her to post the longer version of it so that they can clearly hear her speaking. Lulu also had another surprise for them though. She replied to fans’ comments in Kikuyu. Not only can she speak the language, she can also write. What a Kikuyu day she was having.

Lulu Hassan reveals how she has managed to steer clear of controversies unlike other popular TV girls

Lulu Hassan is among a few media personalities who have managed to keep away from controversy when most TV girls are making headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Lulu has been in the media industry for 13 long years, she worked at KTN as Swahili anchor before moving to Citizen TV where she currently anchors news alongside her husband Rashid Abdalla.

Speaking during an interview with Word Is, The Citizen TV anchor opened up on why she had managed to avoid controversy for the years she has been working in the media industry.

She explained that some people end up doing stupid things because they joined the media industry for fame and not because of passion.

“Most young people who are joining media are doing it for fame and not passion, so they end up doing stupid things because of the influence they are getting on social media,” said Lulu Hassan.

Advice

Lulu also said that not putting out her personal life on social media had helped her steer clear of controversies and had also given her peace of mind.

She further advised media personalities who court controversies every now and then, she said;

“My advice to them is to set goals on what they want from it. Without goals, you will end up doing weird things that will make you famous but for bad reasons.”

Lulu Hassan has been working with her husband Rashid Abdalla for five months now. Rashid quit NTV to join Citizen TV and he was paired with his own wife to anchor news together.

Lulu and Rashid have managed to keep a low profile on their personal lives, they rarely post anything about their family on social media.

For starters, Lulu and Rashid exchanged vows in a colorful wedding in 2013. The two had known each other for six good years prior to their wedding.

Fears

Rashid and Lulu have been blessed with three children in their five year marriage – two older boys and a girl who was born in early September 2018.

Lulu however fears that her onscreen chemistry with her husband could be disrupted by their last born daughter. The Citizen TV anchor explains that in case of an emergency one of them (Rashid and herself) would be forced to respond while the other one goes on with work.

“We have not had a major challenge but what our fear is that now because we have a baby, there might be a time she will not be feeling well, God forbid, and we will have to choose who will be responsible for the baby and who will be working,” said Lulu Hassan.

Citizen TV presenter Lulu Hassan recently took to the gram to share a sweet message after her first born, Jibran Hassan, turned 7.

The popular news anchor, who now works with her husband Rashid Abdalla in airing Nipashe Wikendi news segment, couldn’t hide her excitement after he turned a year older.

“Before you were born we could never imagine our lives as parents. Now we can never imagine living our lives without being parents to a son as adorable as you. Happy 7th birthday Jibby Jibby..we luv you,” she wrote.

Lulu Hassan and her BFF Kanze Dena were the dynamic duo on television. The two anchors worked together for five long years before Kanze Dena left after landing a government job.

Kanze Dena left Citizen TV to join State House communication team. She was appointed deputy head of the Presidential Strategic Communications Unit (PSCU) on June 5th.

Lulu Hassan found herself shedding tears on Sunday June 10th when she anchored news with Kanze Dena for the last time before she left Citizen TV.
