Citizen TV Swahili news anchor Lulu Hassan, it seems, is not a queen of Swahili language only. The popular news anchor recently surprised a section of Kenyans after speaking fluent Kikuyu. Yes, Kikuyu.
The mother of three held a conversation with a colleague while speaking the vernacular language yesterday leaving her fans awed. She had a light talk with fellow news anchor Muthoni Wamukiri who anchors at Inooro TV.

The video amazed fans who begged her to post the longer version of it so that they can clearly hear her speaking. Lulu also had another surprise for them though. She replied to fans’ comments in Kikuyu. Not only can she speak the language, she can also write. What a Kikuyu day she was having.

Citizen TV news anchor Lulu Hassan is back to work after a three-month paternity leave. The Swahili news anchor, who works alongside husband Rashid Abdalla, was blessed with her third child who they recently revealed it’s face.
Lulu, who managed to keep her pregnancy under wraps in the first and part of the second trimester, made the revelation on Instagram alongside her hubby last week.
She has now reported back to work and was welcomed by Kenyans who openly confessed they had missed her.
She penned a sweet message on Instagram thanking her viewers and followers for keeping it locked during her first day back from a three-month hiatus.
“Ahsante kwa makaribisho kabambe…..she said on Instagram adding, ” Hakuna zaidi ya Ahsante ….hadi Wikendi ijaayo ????? MUA .”
Lulu and Rashid have been blessed with three children in their five year marriage – two older boys and a girl who was born in early September 2018.
Citizen TV presenter Lulu Hassan recently took to the gram to share a sweet message after her first born, Jibran Hassan, turned 7.
The popular news anchor, who now works with her husband Rashid Abdalla in airing Nipashe Wikendi news segment, couldn’t hide her excitement after he turned a year older.
“Before you were born we could never imagine our lives as parents. Now we can never imagine living our lives without being parents to a son as adorable as you. Happy 7th birthday Jibby Jibby..we luv you,” she wrote.
Rashid Abdalla, who has been married to Lulu since 2007 and have been blessed with two kids; Jibran and Irfan, also took time to wish his son a happy birthday saying:
“#sisemikitu Maisha yangu uliyapa thamani siku ya kwanza ulizaliwa na baadae ukayapa maisha yangu maana siku ya kwanza uliniita ‘BABA’. Nakuombea Mungu akujalie nuru ya kuishi na watu vizuri bila kujali kabila, dini au tabaka. Heri njema ya siku yako ya kuzaliwa @Jibran_r” he posted.
Citizen TV Swahili news anchor Lulu Hassan recently lost her work mate, Kanze Dena, to the government after Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday afternoon appointed her as Deputy State House Spokesperson and Deputy Head, PSCU.
On Twitter, Hassan, who has worked with her for years, took to social media to share the new announcement. The two have had a solid friendship that has spanned over a decade on and off the screen.

“Alhamdullilah !!!!!Mungu unajuwa mahali umetutoa !!!!!! RESIDENT Kenyatta appoints TV anchor Kanze Dena deputy State House Spokesperson; Munira to head Presidential Library,” posted Lulu immediately after the news broke.
She added later: MUNGU UNAJUWA MAHALI UMETUTOA !!!!!… PRESIDENT Kenyatta appoints Kanze Dena as deputy State House Spokesperson.
According to the government, Kanze is to spearhead and “take leadership of the core communications teams, including digital, messaging, research, branding and press.”
She posted this emotional goodbye:
“I remember us sitting and giggling nervously when the news was broken to us, that we were the top anchors in the country, 4 years in a row. 4 years of holding our breath, perusing through news of the day before going on air, holding frantic conversations and arguing on random things,“ wrote Lulu.
There is something about our profession that I cannot quite define, but I think it has to do with the fact that your real boss is the audience. And they have the final say on whether you stay. To meet their standards is hard work. But with you, the journey has been gratifying.”
“We kept this news all under wraps for some time because our WHAT NEXT was haunting us as days passed by and yesterday it just dawned on me that woooahh this thing is real …after working together for about 5 years and a few months …I say thank you God for you know what we have been through and how our past looked like…”

NTV presenter Rashid Abdall and his wife Lulu Hassan are just the opposite. The two shared a photo of their home located in Kwale County leaving many impressed with their simplicity.
The sitting room has a Swahili setting which is very simple and most of all humble.
Lulu Hassan is grateful to the almighty after undergoing a surgery to remove a plate that was put on her left femur to support her posture following a road accident that happened back in 2010.
The news anchor revealed this through her Instagram page where she narrated her untold story or the first time. In a lengthy text, Lulu Hassan wrote;
April 19th 2010..I remember this day like it was yesterday…I was going for an assignment in Kisumu but on reaching kapkatet it all happened so fast…i found myself at the siloam hospital in Kericho first aid was being administered.. Next thing I knew I was in the ambulance on my way to Nairobi for an emergency theatre at the Agakhan Hospital .
She went on to reveal the effects she underwent and why she even thought that she was never going to walk again. Lulu went on to add,
The next few months would be tough. If you would have asked me then if I thought I would be able to walk or be on my feet again, I wouldn’t have imagine that was possible. But; Alhamdullilah !!! It’s been 7 years walking with a plate on my left femur…On the 30th October,2017 i finally gathered the courage to walk into theatre for a surgery to remove it …i had been relying on this Aluminium plate for the last 7 years after the accident in 2010…. 7 years that saw my walking style and body posture change completely thus affecting my back and work not forgetting the excruciating pain i woud have to endure whenever i wanted to lie down…Alhamdullilah after the Monday surgery; the plate is out…i would like to donate the plate to any elderly patient who may need it and cannot afford it ..hit my inbox.
However now that the plate has been removed, the mother of two will not be on air for a while since she will need some bed rest. She concluded by adding;
I will be in bed for some time to recuperate. I would like to thank my family , friends, my boss who constantly reminded me that i needed to do something…Dr Thuranira i dont know how to thank you but you made me have faith with our medical practitioners and introduced me to one Doctor Mogire (He is God sent)…… ..To anyone going through a tough time now… Be encouraged. It shall pass. ..
