Confusion as black cat walks into Kenyan parliament and MPs start begging for a religious leader (video)

We all know some of the superstitious things black cats are attached to in Kenya.

Many people are always quick to associate the animal with witchcraft and genies. So when one was spotted recently during a parliament proceeding, MPs couldn’t keep calm and just ignore the poor animal.

Millie Odhiambo and Aden Duale had to disrupt the proceeding after spotting the cat saying that religious leaders should be called in to cleans the house.

“Honourable chair, I am worried that there is a stranger in the House,” said Millie.

“Which stranger, can you point out?” wondered Jessica Mbalu.

“That is actually what is worrying me Chair,” responded Millie, adding, “Chair we are just hearing sounds of a cat and we cannot see it. That is more worrisome than when you see the cat because that could be a spirit. Which means that the House should be evacuated with immediate effect.”

Represents Kenyans

Duale had a very surprising view about the cat saying that it’s behaving like a section of Kenyans.

“This cat is representing a section of the people of Kenya and I think we should continue and I am sure if somebody says the house didn’t sit when the cameras are done no need to chase, they need to feed. This cat was here yesterday also, so we need to feed it and don’t play around with a black cat. I am sure the guys from the coast will tell us more,” said Duale.

Parliament denies there’s a bill seeking to legalize prostitution in Kenya

The National Assembly has shot down a bill currently doing rounds on social media called “Sexual Enterprises Act 2018” calling it fake.

Parliament said the purported bill by Leader of Majority Aden Duale is a fake and is not being discussed in Parliament has the reports have started.

“A purported bill named Sexual Enterprise bill by Leader of Majority circulating in social media is fake,” they said in a tweet.

Tax

The fake bill has misled a section of Kenyans online claiming that the government wants to legalize commercial sex in Kenya and then collect tax from prostitutes to fund the economy.

“Majority Leader Aden Duale has no such bill either published or having tabled in the House. Please be advised accordingly,” tweeted the National Assembly.

Kenyans, however, went on to ask the parliament and government to consider some of the objectives of the purported bill because they can save the economy and create more jobs.

Na nisiambiwe kitu! Controversial MP Millie Odhiambo wants to give birth at age 53

Mbita Member of Parliament Millie Odhiambo doesn’t have a child at the age of 53 years, but that doesn’t mean that she’ll stop trying to get one.

“Sara did it at 100 anyway, ” she said on a Facebook post while revealing some of the pressures she encounters for not having a kid.

“Some women got in touch with me on being childless ( because am one, they thought i would be empathetic). Up until then I was not going to bring a law on Assisted Reproduction. I was touched by how women are very affected. My childlessness does not affect me that much. God gave me a special ability to love children who are not mine. So I brought the law courtesy of their intervention. ( I am however toying with the idea of having a child when am 53 or 55.”

Ask real issues not personal stuff

Millie Odhiambo

She also asked people to focus on things that will bring change to Mbita and not always personal issues adding that internet has made it easy to talk to leaders a thing that never happened in the past.

“When I was younger, reaching a policy maker was not easy. If I got an opportunity to reach one, which was rare, I would have a littany of real policy issues to raise with them. Now getting a policy maker is only a face book post or twitter away. Jothurwa- Sample how young people engage us inbox. Young man: I love you. I dream about you. Can we meet? Can you be my girfiend – and suchaalikie things.” she wrote.

She added:

“Back to my issue. Young women and men such are the issues I want to hear. Get it off your mind that having sexual liaison with leaders will make you wealthy. Work hard and be a leader in any field you chose instead. If I wanted to engage in illicit s..x, i can assure you it will not be with some random youth writing to me on facebook. Dont ask who it will be with. I carry no property of yours.”

This is the heinous act MP’s committed while Kenyans were dead asleep last night that you need to know about

While Kenyans were busy sleeping awaiting another day to continue propagating tribal politics on social media, Kenyan lawmakers who are second most highly paid lawmakers came together to award themselves a whopping 2.5 billion shillings for 8 months of no work.

That’s the length of time by which their five-year terms will be cut short by the General Election on August 8 and thus they have awarded themselves a sendoff package worth Sh12.9 million for each of the 349 members of the National Assembly and the 62 members of the Senate.

MPs have been piling pressure on Treasury to allocate money to compensate them for their shorter term and treasury finally gave in last night allowing the money to be drawn from Parliament’s Sh36 billion allocations for 2017-18.

This whole process started late last year when MPs raided public coffers and added Sh5 billion to their send-off package. This raised the budget ceiling from Sh31 billion proposed by Treasury to Sh36 billion.

The powerful Budget and Appropriations Committee had argued the money was to cater for parliamentary staff at the constituency offices, who have a five-year contract with the Parliamentary Service Commission.

The staff are entitled to a gratuity at the end of the five-year term

However, the Treasury and the budget committee struck a deal on February 6 — the gratuity for staff will not come from the PSC but from National Budget estimates to be presented tomorrow.

Treasury’s decision by the Treasury to budget for the gratuity for the hundreds of contracted staff was seen as a ‘scheme’ to indirectly validate the MPs’ budget surge.

“National Treasury reassured the chairman there was a line budget for them,” read minutes of the meeting attended by Finance CS Henry Rotich and PS Kamau Thugge.

Even with all this counter reactions and even a court barring the same, the legislature has still had its way.

It’s truly a sad day to be Kenyan!
