Comedian Jasper Murume has revealed details about his past relationship with the late content creator Tabitha Gatwiri, a love affair that remained largely private despite being in the public eye. Speaking at a memorial service on Tuesday, Murume, who gained fame on Churchill’s show, shared how he and Gatwiri had been romantically involved between 2018 and 2019, though they eventually broke up. Despite the end of their relationship, they maintained a professional connection and collaborated on various projects.

Murume explained that their relationship was kept so private that many people were unaware of it. “I don’t know if people knew, but Gatwiri was once my girlfriend. But that was a long time ago. I’m married now with children,” he revealed. Even after parting ways, they remained good friends and continued to work together in the entertainment industry, always ensuring they stayed on good terms.
Content creator Carol Sonnie also paid a heartfelt tribute to Gatwiri, recalling her kindness and generosity. Sonnie shared a memorable experience of when she visited Gatwiri at her home, where Gatwiri went out of her way to make her feel comfortable, even offering her a costume from her own wardrobe. Sonnie described Gatwiri as selfless, with a heart of gold, and noted how she left a lasting impact on those who knew her.

Gatwiri, a social media influencer and content creator, will be laid to rest in Nyeri on Friday, November 15. An autopsy revealed that her death was caused by suffocation due to positional asphyxia, which led to brain edema. This condition occurs when a person’s posture obstructs their breathing, leading to oxygen deprivation and, in severe cases, death.
