What Jalang’o’s graduation means for every Kenyan with a dream that seems far-fetched

By now, I’m sure you are aware that popular media personality Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o graduated from Daystar University with a degree in Community Development.

I have been thinking about the funny man and how far he has come from his Kiss FM days and what I can say is that he is a huge inspiration to every Kenyan with a dream, he really is.

There is that famous picture of Jalang’o selling fish on the shores of Homabay and to image that that same man is the biggest media personality in Kenya at the moment is something that is beyond me.

He has shown Kenyans from all walks of life that if you put your mind to something you can definitely achieve it by pursing it with all your might.

There was a time when Jalang’o was asked what makes him work so hard and he said that having been poor he is trying to run away from it as far as he can.

As someone who looks up to the popular media personality, I can say that I really admire him and his journey. He just makes me want to work hard and get to the levels where he is today.

There have been whispers that he is eyeing a certain political seat in Nairobi and I don’t know whether the rumors are true or not, I would advice him not to get mixed up with the political class.

The likes of Jicho Pevu and Mohammed Ali who were adored by Kenyans for the roles that they played in the society are now a shadow of their former selves and have lost public trust.

Terence Creative and Milly Chebby is one couple that has been through thick and thin together and despite it all, proved they were a pair meant to be.

Milly has seen her hubby grow into a responsible man, father-figure, husband and head of his family and for his wife, Terence has seen her grow strong as a wife, nursing mother and content creator breaking records online.

A couple that is nothing short of two creatives under one roof, I kid you not, they sit in one forum and you’d think you’ve been robbed of your time. You just can’t get enough.

Despite the trolls they have faced overtime, what many are not privy to, is where Milly got Terence from.

Losing his parents at the tender age of 9 years, the creative resorted to street life; robbery, gambling and drug abuse was the order of the day, he told Jalango TV.

Even after crossing paths with Milly, his street life never changed. He would gamble day and night, forcing her to get him from clubs and casinos, having been ripped off millions of shillings.

Terence used to be a smoker, a gambler. He dealt with shylocks and would gamble all his money away. I kept telling him your kids need a better version of you, a present you. He used to work at Tribeka as an MC where he goes in at 5am and I used to get him out in the middle of the night, 1 am. Bouncers and waiters had already known me.

Terence lost bets, millions of shillings, tearfully confessing:

I became so miserable, I lost alot!

Milly eventually succeeded in getting him out of that but with the age of the Internet, he took to his phone to continue with online gambling.

His wife tried everything she could, but Terence kept losing millions, nothing to bring home at the end of the day, nothing to show for a day’s work.

When he stopped going into casinos, he started Sportpesa and the likes. I would delete the apps daily but he would re-download. I was forced to go on my knees to get him out of gambling.

However, through words of affirmation, Milly was able to get her hubby out of the ditch and today, they live to tell a story.

Radio presenter cum comedian Jalang’o recently left many fine ladies thrusting over his latest young man hired to host shows on Jalang’o TV!

Well, Daniel Weke who is not only an eye candy but a talented young man is the new face added to Jalang’o team.

The radio host went on to introduce him to his fans; but little did he know that with Weke would turn out to be a chick magnet as many young ladies cant seem to get enough of him.

Theough his Instagram page, Jalang’os introduced the young man saying;

Guys let me introduce you to @danielweke, JALANGO TV first host !! So happy you joined the team! Watch him today at 1pm hosting JalangoTv on the street’s!! Welcome @danielweke”

Who is Daniel Weke

For those who still have no idea who Daniel Weke is then allow me to reintroduce the fine young man whose career started when he was still quite young!

Daniel Weke is not only a TV host but a talented actor who has featured on several Mnet movies before his big break with TV series, Mali!

Among some of the shows he has hosted is The Edge’ before he moved to hosting ‘The Hangout!’ What makes him special is the fact that he learned how to hustle while still young – and this is because of his single mum.

During one of the big interviews he did back in past, Mr Weke opened up on how his father walked out leaving his mother to take care of their family. This motivated him to working towards being a better man in future; and judging from his achievements and hustles…I guess we can say that he is headed the right direction!

Jalang’o reveals his major plan when he retires from his radio job!

Jalang’o has had a quite successful radio journey that will soon be coming to an end! On Monday, 13 July the comedian cum radio presenter officially started his radio job at Kiss FM; however it turns out that this will be his final radio show to host.

The presenter revealed during his latest interview on Billy O’clock, Where he was asked if he would join Radio Maisha if an opened up; to which he responded by revealing that Kiss FM was his last radio job.

Although he did not reveal how long his contract with Kiss FM will last; he however mentioned his future plans which will see him run the media industry through his own media house!

Speaking during the interview Jalang’o opened up saying;

Sahii ndio safari yangu ya mwisho redioni maanake nimeanza shughuli zangu; na sasa ni mipango zangu pia kuwa na kitu yangu ya media nikaanza Jalang’o TV ndani ya YouTube. Kenya’s number one online show (This is my final journey on radio because I have started my own things. I plan to have my own media and I started Jalang’o TV on YouTube.)

Thanks to the current lock down, Jalang’os fans pushed Heavy J Baba to activating his YouTube channel which has since grown into an online media house.

So far Jalang’o has been doing well by proving reliable content for his fans which is aired on his YouTube channel. Seeing how fans embraced the Channel real quick; the journalist has since been working towards creating a bigger platform that will open job opportunities for his fans.

In one of the episodes aired on his channel, Jalango promised more job opportunities as he hopes to now compete with the likes of Royal media, Nation and Mediamax now that Jalang’o is about to run an entire media house.

After quitting radio job at Milele FM, comedian cum radio host Jalang’o has been focusing on his YouTube channel that continues to grow each day.

With this new move, Jalang’o has come out to reveal that he will soon be changing the Bonga na Jalas channel; to an actual YouTube TV channel that will be airing news, sports, music and all sorts of entertainment!

This also means new job opportunities for the Youths who are willing to work with the media personality; and due to the high enough jobs many have applauded Jalang’o as seen on the comment section. Speaking about his plans, Jalang’o opened up revealing;

With how the YouTube channel is growing so fast, the Bonga na Jalas YouTube channel. What if we made it bigger and better. Now this is what i mean, Bonga na Jalas and the interviews I do just became a segment in the YouTube channel. For you guys who watch and think have a talent, I can have somebody do news, sports. I can have the comedian of the day, reviews…so that we can create opportunities for so many people to have themselves on Bonga na Jalas.

According to Jalang’o, this will open an opportunity for jobless Youths stuck at home with certificates but no employment.

His idea is definitely what we call ‘thinking out of the box’ and even though he has proven to have his shortcomings; Jalang’o has given fans yet another reason for him to celebrate him for being thoughtful.

In the video, he went on to add;

But then now we don’t call it Bonga na Jalas we call it Jalang’o TV. So on Jalango TV, so we have interviews, sports, music, DJ’s sending their mixtapes. Just like TV!
